The students will attend 5 workshops during the day. Workshops will be run by: NHS Trust Dietician, Foods for Life (Harley Street nutritionists), a working mother and homebuilder, Public Health for Nutrition and the Centre

For Sport. A varied and exciting lunch menu will introduce students to tastes which they may have never come across before.

The 14-19 Learning Partnership is funding the event with Flexible Curriculum Programme funding which aims to provide students with opportunities to experience high quality vocational, occupational, enterprise and employability activities.

Yvonne a vegetarian and co-author of vegan (Hamlyn £12.99)denies she will be trying to convert students to veganism.

Changes in Urine Color or Flow Can Signal a Problem; Noted Urogynecologist/Author Explains

One of the best ways to gauge what's going on inside your bladder may be to take a look at what's coming out…literally. According to a leading expert in cystitis, changes in urine (http://www. cystex. com/Pages/Urine%20Changes), such as in the color, concentration and clarity, as well as the actual urinary flow or "stream," can be the first indicator of possible medical issues.

Larrian Gillespie, retired urologist/urogynecologist and author of the best-selling book, You Don't Have to Live with Cystitis (HarperCollins), says it's very important to pay attention to the physical changes in one's urine, which when healthy, is a straw-yellow color.

"Pigments that affect the color of urine are often the result of certain medications, diet or disease," says Gillespie. "These changes are often temporary, but if they become chronic, it is very important to investigate the problem further by consulting with your healthcare provider."

Here, Gillespie offers her thoughts on urinary changes and what steps to take:

What You See When You Pee: -- Clear Urine
 Most Likely Means: You've been drinking more liquids, such as increased water intake.  What to Do: Typically, clear urine signals good hydration and health. However, if you do not consume many beverages or much water and your urine remains consistently clear, contact a physician because it could be a sign of a kidney or liver disorder.

What You See When You Pee:-- Dark Yellow Urine
 Most Likely Means: You have not been drinking enough liquids and are likely dehydrated.  What to Do: Drink more liquids. Gillespie recommends drinking as much as one feels comfortable, given your level of activity, the climate and your diet. On average, we need at least 32 ounces of fluids per day.

What You See When You Pee-- Fluorescent Yellow/Orange Urine
 Most Likely Means: You've been consuming a lot of darker colored foods, such as beets, carrots, too much vitamin C, etc. However, this could also be an early sign of liver dysfunction if urine is consistently a dark yellow/orange or brownish color.  What to Do: It is very important to make sure that you are drinking enough liquids. However, if this condition persists, it highly recommended that you consult with your primary care physician for an accurate diagnosis.

What You See When You Pee-- Blood-Tinged or Rust - Colored Urine
 Most Likely Means: If accompanied by pain, burning and frequent urination, it is most likely a urinary tract infection (UTI). In some cases, the urine is also cloudy and/or has an odor.  What to do: Contact your healthcare provider for a urine culture to these if you have a bacterial infection, for which you'll need a prescription antibiotic. However, a culture can take a few days, so in the meantime, Gillespie recommends taking Cystex® Urinary Pain Relief Tablets (http://www. cystex. com/Pages/Urine%20Changes), available over-the-counter at drug stores. "Not only will it help alleviate any painful symptoms that you experience with a UTI, but it will also help stop the progression of the bacterial infection until you can start the antibiotic."

What You See When You Pee-- Brown Urine
 Most Likely Means: Brown urine can be an indication of a serious condition. This may be caused by either liver or kidney diseases. There are other symptoms related to these ailments that should also be considered as indicators.  What to Do: See your physician as soon as possible for an accurate diagnosis.

What You See When You Pee-- Green or Blue Urine
 Most Likely Means: Artificial coloring in food or drugs (i. e. dyes) can cause urine to turn green or blue. Urine in the brighter green color can also be an indication of an excess of B vitamins.  What to Do: Scale back on the supplements and artificial foods that might be changing your urine color. If nothing changes, then consult with your physician.

What You See When You Pee-- Murky, Cloudy Urine
 Most Likely Means: It could be related to either bacterial vaginosis or a yeast infection, a bad case of a UTI, kidney stones or other urinary tract diseases. Some urinary complaints might accompany the change in urine color, including painful urination, reduced urine outflow and increased urinary frequency.  What to do: It is important that you see your physician at once for an accurate diagnosis. Be sure to also alert your doctor to any changes in the way that you urinate (i. e. flow, pain, and urgency).

"Urine color changes can appear temporarily sometimes, so it is important to note if they continue to return and what you may have eaten, including medications, vitamins, etc., that could have triggered a color change," explains Gillespie. "Anything that doesn't go away within a few days should be addressed by your healthcare provider."

Gillespie also notes that the strength of the urine stream is important to pay attention to, as well. "Inflammation in the bladder can cause a weaker stream, so if this occurs, make an effort to get a urine culture to rule out a UTI. If the results are negative, see a urologist and ask for a uroflow exam to assess whether or not you are voiding - urinating - efficiently, no matter what the color."

Fifteen year employees included Leonard Monroe of Claremont, Bob Desrosier of Claremont, and Jeff Humber of East Sandwich, MA. There were also 5 employees who have been with Customized Structures since the first home came off the line in 1985. They received a special thank you from Joe Landers, President, for their service and commitment to the company. Each 20 year employee was presented with a certificate for a cruise for two to a tropical destination. They included Sandy Hussey of Claremont, Jon LeClair of Charlestown, Jim Lovering of Franklin, Bud VonAhnen of Charlestown, and Ray Boucher of Claremont. It was a very pleasant surprise for the many years of dedication they showed.

After the festivities, all of the employees departed for the holiday with a turkey for Christmas dinner. The approximately 20 leftover turkeys were donated by Customized Structures, Inc. to West Central Behavioral Health in Claremont and Newport, NH.

We have not, yet, determined if we shall retain him as an artist on our label, particularly, due to his current health condition, obvious negative mental state of being and, most importantly, possible label embarrassment, but we are *definitely* continuing his medical treatment and supervision with the noted and renowned Dr. Russ Hamlisch, who believes that Love's condition is, primarily, a combined result of stress, overly high cholesterol, and having consumed far too many enchiladas while watching last Sunday's Super Bowl game (please don't ask!).

The students at Pima Medical Institute, 1627 Eastlake Avenue East in Seattle recently captured 1st place in the Dental Assisting School category of the national 2005 Dental Assistants Recognition Week Campaign sponsored by the American Dental Assistants Association and the American Dental Association.

PMI's prize-winning activities were three fold. First, Karen Rebiger, CDA, Dental Assistant instructor for PMI and her students procured a Proclamation from Gov. Christine Gregoire recognizing Dental Assistant Recognition Week. Next, the class set up a Table Clinic in the student lounge area and gave PMI faculty, staff and students advice on dental hygiene. Delicious tooth-shaped cookies helped lure in more reluctant participants. The third major activity was a presentation at a preschool where the students distributed dental hygiene kits that included toothbrushes and floss, as well as hand-made tooth fairy pillows.

“The efforts put forth by you and those who worked with you will go a long way toward educating our professional peers about the contribution made by dental assistants everywhere,” wrote Kristy S. Borquez, President of the American Dental Assistants Association in a letter informing PMI of their first-place recognition.

“We are so proud of our DA program and Ms. Rebiger's dedication to her students,” said George Borchers, campus director for the Seattle campus. “Their dedication, enthusiasm and desire to have a positive impact in the community has all of us smiling.”

The training period for PMI's Dental Assistant program is 30 weeks for day classes for day classes, or 33 weeks for evening classes. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for Dental Assistants is expected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations through 2012.

Social Housing Seminars in Oxford

The global humanitarian organization Save the Children, in partnership with the World Food Program (WFP), successfully distributed critically needed food supplies over the past two days in Marissant and Tabarre to about 30,000 people.

Port-Au-Prince, Haiti (Vocus) February 3, 2010 -- The global humanitarian organization Save the Children, in partnership with the World Food Program (WFP), successfully distributed critically needed food supplies over the past two days in Marissant and Tabarre to about 30,000 people. The agency will continue to distribute rice at both sites for the next two weeks, reaching an estimated 285,000 children and adults.

“Our partnership with community leaders at these displaced camps was key in helping us get food aid out over the past two days. We couldn’t have done it without their support,” said Halane Hussein, Save the Children’s Emergency Advisor in Haiti.

He cautioned, “So many children and families have gone now 3 weeks with barely any steady food supply. We’ve met a pregnant mother who has told us that since the earthquake, her children had only been eating a meal a day, without vegetables or meat.”

Assessing Damaged Schools, Teachers and Students Remaining in Earthquake-affected Communities
Glimmers of hope were felt Monday when some schools in the non-affected quake areas opened. And in the most affected areas, Save the Children and partner organizations, including the Ministry of Education, will soon begin a needs assessment in an effort to get exact figures of the number of schools that have been destroyed or partially damaged, and to determine the number of teachers and children remaining in the communities.

The total number of teachers and children killed in the quake is unknown, and still others have migrated to rural areas outside of Port au Prince. Some of the least damaged schools in the earthquake-affected zones could restart as early as March 2010, according to the government of Haiti.

“It is so important for schools to get up and running as quickly as possible,” said Hussein. “Before the earthquake, there were already more than 700,000 children out of school. This number is set to increase as many schools have been damaged, and teachers killed or injured.”

Added Hussein, “We have the opportunity now to try to get all of these children back to school, including the most vulnerable children, and address the long-term educational needs of Haitian children.”

Providing for Children’s Critical Health Needs
To address urgent medical issues, Save the Children is responsible for providing health services in 36 camps and locations. About 6,000 patients were treated through Save the Children supported health facilities and by 12 mobile medical teams.

The organization has also established two mobile clinics in Leogane – one of the hardest hit towns – and is expected to set up an additional four mobile health teams in Jacmel, where Save the Children continues with their work to feed malnourished children.

The aid agency is also distributing hygiene and household supplies such as soap, towels, Jerry cans to hold water, and plastic sheeting for shelter.

Save the Children has worked in Haiti since 1978 and currently has more than 200 staff in the country.
