Doctor-led Health Care Organization Welcomes Pharmaceutical Companies

Doctor-led Health Care Organization Welcomes Pharmaceutical Companies

IADMD. org believes there’s opportunity for pharmaceutical companies to join their broad base of doctors to fight for preferred treatment of choice.

East Hampstead, NH (Vocus) October 15, 2007

A doctor-led health care association (http://www. iadmd. org/) today reached out to pharmaceutical companies for their backing in the fight to get patients the prescription drugs they need even when higher co-pays deter them from their doctors’ preferred treatments.

Insurance companies cover prescription drugs based on their classification, amount of time in development and cost. Patients generally substitute doctors’ preferred drug of choice with less expensive drugs that are not as effective because patients can’t afford the added out-of-pocket costs.

“Today’s system has insurers dictating treatment of choice and insurance companies are not clinicians,” says Dr. John J. Ryan, DMD, the founder and CEO of IADMD. org. “Captivating people with a less-effective alternate drug that carries significantly lower co-pay is never in the best interest of patients.”

The Int’l Assoc. of Dental and Medical Disciplines (IADMD), which just last week unveiled its own comprehensive health care reform (http://www. iadmd. org/) plan that puts control of medicine back into the hands of licensed doctors, is now extending an invitation to the pharmaceutical community to join IADMD in its efforts that revolutionizes health care.

“Pharmaceutical companies are in the same boat as doctors when it comes to fighting insurance companies,” says Dr. Ryan. “Insurers cut doctors and new drugs out of the equation — that can otherwise eradicate disease, and prevent chronic illness and even loss of life.”

Regulators and lawmakers tend to scrutinize interactions between the drug industry and doctors (http://www. iadmd. org/). Their concern is that pharmaceutical companies may offer financial incentives to doctors to drive drug sales. But Ryan says he doesn’t see this as a problem. And believes this might be an opportunity for the pharmaceutical community to forge an alliance with their broad base of physicians and dentists.

IADMD is connecting doctors from the various disciplines through specially linked doctor Web sites. Each offers a portal for doctors to securely consult with each other. It also connects doctors with their patients. The Web sites enable patients to make doctor’s appointments and order prescription refills online. The doctor Web sites come FREE with each membership to the organization.

US Interventional Cardiology Market Expands in Q1 2007 over Q4 2006

US Interventional Cardiology Market Expands in Q1 2007 over Q4 2006

Rebounding coronary procedure volumes augmented growth in the total interventional cardiology market in Q1 2007, after severe decline in December 2006.

Waltham, Massachusetts (PRWEB) April 20, 2007

Millennium Research Group's (MRG) Marketrack service reveals that the interventional cardiology market value increased 1.5% in Q1 2007 over Q4 2006.

Coronary stents, percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) balloons, intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) catheters, thrombectomy devices and atheterectomy devices all grew in market value after a slow December in 2006.

"In December we saw percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) procedures and revenues on the decline, but it seems that this past quarter has shown an increase," say Bina Mistry, analyst at MRG. "Risks associating drug coated stents with late stent thrombosis slowed down procedure volumes in December. In Q1 2007, however, PCI procedures increased with less hesitation by physicians to perform this treatment option. Moreover, an increase in PTCA balloon, thrombectomy, and atherectomy procedures was also noticed - such procedures can replace stent procedures in patients suffering from coronary artery disease (CAD).

Furthermore, increased screening initiatives through diagnostic angiographies which diagnose CAD in patients has increased in Q1 2007 over Q1 2006. As a result, diagnostic catheters, which facilitate the diagnosis of CAD during this procedure, experienced increased unit sales translating into a market increase of 47% in Q1 2007 compared to Q1 2006.

Cincinnati Hypnotist Helps Launch World Hypnotism Day

Cincinnati Hypnotist Helps Launch World Hypnotism Day

With health and change on everyoneÂ’s mind this time of year more and more people are beginning to recognize the benefits of complimentary protocols such as hypnosis. Certified Hypnotist William Molitor is leading the charge to bring Hypnosis education to Cincinnati through free seminars at the Tri-State Hypnosis Center and other areas surrounding Greater Cincinnati, January 4 thru 8, 2005.

(PRWEB) December 9, 2004

January 4th, 2005, marks the first day of its kind when professionals in the field of hypnotism from various organizations around the world will be sharing their expertise while promoting the truths and benefits of hypnotism.

The intention is to remove the many myths and misconceptions surrounding hypnosis that make it seem like mind control. Empowered with this new information William hopes that individuals will be able to make informed decisions about whether or not they wish to use hypnosis to achieve their goals. One such myth is that hypnosis is sleep. “Hypnosis is in fact a heightened state of awareness” says William, “you are more aware in hypnosis than you are in your normal state. It is important to note that no one can be hypnotized against their will and no one can be forced to do things while in hypnosis which they do not want to do.”

Hypnotism is a safe and powerful intervention for a variety of motivational, self-improvement and goal achieving situations. It is natural and free of side effects the results are long lasting and often permanent. The American Medical Association approved hypnosis as a viable medical practice in 1958

Ethical guidelines

The National Guild of Hypnotists has ethical guidelines, which all members must adhere to. NGH Hypnotists are not practicing medical or mental health arts (unless additional credentials are held by the member) Hypnotists do not diagnose disease, but can help in an adjunct to conventional medical or mental health interventions. We have our own unique non-diagnostic language, which we use with clients in order to help them to achieve.

William Molitor a certified master hypnotist, educational and transformational speaker, an area expert on hypnosis, seen on Cincinnati’s FOX19 morning show, recognized by many in his field as “The Source” for expert opinion on 5-PATH hypnotherapy and director of the Tri-State Hypnosis Center

National Media Informs Consumers the Value of Probiotics 750 Trillion Bacteria Reside in Your Stomach at Any One Time -- Make Sure They're the 'Good Guys'

National Media Informs Consumers the Value of Probiotics 750 Trillion Bacteria Reside in Your Stomach at Any One Time -- Make Sure They're the 'Good Guys'

Over 178,000 people are affected by "bad bacteria" after antibiotic therapy. Replacing beneficial bacteria through supplementation, especially after antibiotic use, can reestablish the good bacteria and help boost the immune system.

Lake Arrowhead, CA (PRWEB) February 28, 2006

In a recent interview with Dr. Jonathan La Pook from Columbia University Medical Center on The Today Show with Katie Couric, Dr. La Pook revealed the dangers of killing off friendly bacteria in the gut with overuse of antibiotics. He went on to say, "When you upset the apple cart, you disturb the balance... It's important for any individuals that have taken antibiotics to reintroduce good, friendly bacteria in the form of probiotics to maintain GI health."

Additionally, Mary Carmichael of Newsweek International also wrote about the antibiotic/probiotic relationship. "Lately, docs have been taking an interest in probiotic supplements, which may help control infections. In a recent German study, subjects taking three probiotics found that their colds were shorter and less severe. Probiotics may even help ward off some of the most dangerous germs, like Clostridium difficile, a nasty bug that sometimes infects the colon after hospital patients are given strong antibiotics. To avert off Clostridium, some docs are experimentally dosing their patients with gut flora. Probiotic supplements are becoming more common in health-food stores, too.”

Researchers in Sweden compared workers who took the probiotic bacteria Lactobacillus reuteri every day with those who didn't. The workers who took the probiotic had less than half the sick leave of workers who didn't. The newly published study from Sweden included 181 factory workers who consumed a drink containing L. reuteri or a drink without the probiotic for 80 days. Twenty-three of the 87 workers in the placebo group reported taking sick days during the study, compared with only 10 of the 94 workers who took the L. reuteri. The difference was most dramatic among 53 shift workers: none of the 26 shift workers in the L. reuteri group reported taking any sick leave, compared with nine out of 27 shift workers in the placebo group.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, doctors are writing 50 million unnecessary prescriptions for ailments that cannot be treated with antibiotics, such as the common cold and other viral infections. It is estimated that 80% of ear infections do not require antibiotic therapy, and that over 178,000 people are affected by "bad bacteria" after antibiotic therapy. Replacing beneficial bacteria through supplementation, especially after antibiotic use, can reestablish the good bacteria and help boost the immune system. Probiotics and proper nutrition is a terrific one-two punch against the cold and flu and overall body health.

Nebraska Cultures, leading the probiotic industry for the past 25 years, is reinforcing their commitment to consumer education when it comes to probiotics and their use during antibiotic therapy.

The recently released book by Dr. Khem Shahani, Cultivate Health from Within: Dr. Shahani’s Guide to Probiotics, states, "It has been known for nearly a century that eating fermented foods containing ‘friendly bacteria’ has important nutritional and therapeutic benefits in proper friendly bacteria balance… proper balance of friendly bacteria is not an easy feat to accomplish. Diets rich in sugar, cortisone and cortisone-like drugs, birth control pills, immuno-suppressive drugs and antibiotics have been major culprits in affecting a naturally healthy digestive system and overall body health."

That’s precisely the reason Dr. Shahani wrote Cultivate Health From Within. He sensibly describes which probiotics are instrumental in achieving and maintaining the body’s health. Dr. Shahani’s® DDS-1 strain of L. acidophilus and other probiotics greatly help the body in healing and maintaining good health now and always.

Westfield Eye Center Selects Galvanon's eClipboard

Westfield Eye Center Selects Galvanon's eClipboard

Use of eClipboard will allow clinic to streamline the patient registration process, leading to increased efficiency and improved patient satisfaction.

Maitland, FL (PRWEB) June 14, 2005

Galvanon, the patient experience company, today announced that Westfield Eye Center, the largest eye care provider in the metropolitan Las Vegas area, has selected its wireless eClipboard™ solution to streamline the patient registration process at its two locations. Westfield Eye Center will use the patient self-service device to identify patients at check-in, gather necessary forms and signatures, and collect co-payments and outstanding balances.

Westfield Eye Center offers comprehensive eye care services to patients in the southern Nevada area, including general ophthalmology, oculoplastic surgery, laser vision correction and the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, neuro-ophthalmology, corneal and cataract. Since its opening in 1980, Westfield Eye Center has demonstrated a commitment to providing the most effective procedures for the treatment of all eye conditions.

"Implementing Galvanon's eClipboard technology is a win-win for our organization because it benefits both patients and staff members alike," said Kenneth Westfield, M. D., founder and chief executive officer of Westfield Eye Center. "Patients will appreciate the convenience of the self-service option, which will help to reduce redundant paperwork and minimize wait times. At the same time, our staff members will have more time to focus on care-related issues and concerns."

Upon arrival at the facility, patients will swipe a driver's license, credit card or membership card directly on the eClipboard to begin checking in. All of the information the patient enters or verifies using the touch screen interface will be made automatically available in the clinic's practice management and electronic medical records (EMR) system. This capability brings added value to staff by eliminating duplicate data entry and minimizing the risk of errors that result from patient misidentification and clerical errors.

"Our self-service approach to patient registration is truly revolutionizing the check-in process, and we applaud Westfield Eye Center for taking this important step," said Raj Toleti, chairman and chief executive officer of Galvanon. "By using our eClipboard solution, we are confident they will be able to increase patient satisfaction while also improving day-to-day workflow."

Galvanon's eClipboard is part of a comprehensive suite of products that allows hospitals and clinics to provide patient self-service capabilities. These products include MediKiosk™, a free-standing check-in kiosk, on-line BillPay and pre-registration via the Web.
