Skincare Fact or Fiction: Firming Facial Skin Care Exercises

Skincare Fact or Fiction: Firming Facial Skin Care Exercises

Skincare-News. com finds out whether or not facial exercises can actually help firm and tone facial skin. Is this a new trend or an elaborate hoax? Experts find out.

Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) January 28, 2008

Stretch, flex, one, two and three. Hold it. Feel the burn. While these are words typically associated with a workout session at the gym, many women are now stretching and flexing their faces in hopes of firming and toning their skin. Skincare-News. com's latest article, "Firming Facial Exercises: Fact or Fiction?" examines first of all why the skin sags and loses firmness, and second, whether facial exercises can prevent this. http://www. skincare-news. com/articles. php? ArtID=496 (http://www. skincare-news. com/articles. php? ArtID=496)

Reasons for loss of firmness
Multiple factors contribute to our loss of firmness, including sun exposure, collagen loss and facial expressions.

First, sun exposure can cause damage because of harmful UVA and UVB rays. Sun damage causes skin to become thinner and drier, prompting a breakdown in structure and saggy skin.

Skin also loses firmness because of collagen loss. Collagen is key in keeping skin firm and taut. It affects skin's overall feel and texture. With age, however, collagen production slows down -- and so the skin starts to lose its firm and plump feel.

Third, facial expressions can lead to sagging skin, lines and wrinkles. All those years of smiling, frowning, glaring and squinting add up, taking a toll on your skin.

Debunking the claims of facial exercise
Can facial exercise actually help firm our skin? No, say dermatologists. Regardless of how many squints, squeezes or puckers people do, facial exercises won't counteract sagging skin. They can't undo sun damage. Also, unlike building muscle tone in other areas, collagen can't be created with exercise. Put quite simply, loss of collagen leads to loss of firmness, and because facial exercises won't produce more collagen, they won't work to firm the skin.

Even worse, facial exercises can actually do the opposite: As mentioned earlier, repeated facial expressions cause lines and wrinkles. So, the squinting and puckering movements involved in facial exercises will actually give unwanted lines and wrinkles.

Instead of trying to contort the face into twisted expressions, try to hold relaxed poses with the face at ease, eyes and mouth gently closed. These relaxed poses can help release facial tension, particularly along the jaw, which in turn, can keep skin firm and reduce lines and wrinkles.

Second, gentle massaging of the face using just the fingertips can have a beneficial firming effect. Estheticians, technicians and nurses frequently perform massages before a facial treatment or chemical procedure. It improves circulation and draws bacteria and toxins to your skin's surface for easier removal.

Enamel, the hard outer-coating on each tooth, is the strongest substance in the body and helps the teeth withstand the constant pressure and abuse put on them daily through chewing and talking. Coffee, tea, red wine and tobacco are possibly the most well known stain culprits, however many other common substances can cause discoloration. But why does enamel stain and what can be done about it?

Think Before You Buy, Part I: Natural and Organic Skin Care

Recently, studies have shown that companies are legally allowed to put things into their skincare products that would never be allowed in foods. This is where natural and organic skincare come in. Organic and natural products have been hailed as the solution to dangerous ingredients in beauty products. But what's the truth behind these harder to find and more expensive natural and organic products?

Growing Pains: Acne

As magical as it may seem, growing up sometimes isn't all it's cracked up to be -- especially if growing up leaves the skin marked with acne and blemishes. Like everything else in adolescence, hormones may be blamed for a lot of these changes. And even though they may seem heart-wrenching or embarrassing, don't despair! It may not seem so, but clear skin can be achieved and maintained during adolescence.

So much goes into the care and feeding of great skin, but in our haste to get the newest cream, or check out the latest wrinkle serum, we forget some of the whole-body skincare techniques we can call on to keep our skin clear, glowing and healthy. And while the health benefits of exercise is not new information, the beneficial impact exercise has on skin is a side-effect that often gets overlooked.

GreenHouse Energy, Governor Schwarzenegger Join in Driving the Future of Fueling in California

GreenHouse Energy, Governor Schwarzenegger Join in Driving the Future of Fueling in California

San Diego-based GreenHouse to distribute feedstock for E-Fuel MicroFueler™

Sacramento (Vocus) June 5, 2009

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger joined San Diego-based GreenHouse on the steps of the State Capitol this morning as E-Fuel Corp. unveiled the final production model of the revolutionary E-Fuel MicroFueler, a portable micro-refinery fuel system for consumer use. The State of California’s Department of General Services is also exploring a pilot program to test the MicroFueler with its flex-fuel vehicles. To see video from today’s press conference go to www. GreenHouseEnergy. com.

“We are making our state a cleaner, greener and healthier place for everyone, but our goals require revolutionary technologies and low-carbon fuels,” said Governor Schwarzenegger. “That’s why I get so excited about the entrepreneurial spirit of creative and innovative companies who have been inspired by our groundbreaking environmental policies and are putting people to work right here in California. It’s great news for our economy, our environment and our energy future.”

GreenHouse Energy, a division of GreenHouse, will be the exclusive distributor of the E-Fuel MicroFueler in California and Arizona.

“GreenHouse is fully committed to making private use of alternative fuel an affordable reality by the end of 2009,” said Chris Ursitti, GreenHouse CEO. “As a result of the Governor’s forward-leaning environmental policies, we will make home delivery of clean and affordable ethanol something every Californian can count on.”

The E-Fuel distribution system is a model for sustainability. The organic fuel is produced using carbohydrate waste products found abundantly in brewery waste, algae and cellulose (no corn or food-based products). Using state-of-the-art semiconductor technology, the appliance-sized units are pump-stations and ethanol distillers that can be installed at residences by the GreenHouse distribution team.

Each MicroFueler requires three kilowatts of electricity to produce a gallon of Efuel100, in turn one gallon of Efuel100 will generate up to 23 kilowatts of power. The ethanol generated will play an affordable and integral part in reducing California greenhouse gas emissions.

GreenHouse has partnered with notable companies including Karl Strauss, Gordon Biersch and Sunny Delight, to convert 29,000 tons of liquid waste using the Efuel 100 Microfueler process.

JobZen Announces Launch of New Staffing Model for Independent Recruiters

JobZen Announces Launch of New Staffing Model for Independent Recruiters

JobZen offers senior Staffing Professionals the opportunity to be successful on their own and retain a dramatically larger percentage of their billings. JobZen provides the tools and support needed to extend market reach, leverage time, build brand value and remove the major administrative burdens associated with running a staffing enterprise. JobZen enables top performers to focus on what’s important -- growing their business and surpassing client expectations while working with a team that is dedicated to their success.

Toronto, Ontario (PRWEB) November 21, 2005

Today JobZen (www. jobzen. ca) announced the launch of a new business model for the Canadian staffing industry.

JobZen’s Associate Programs provide a platform for Staffing Professionals to operate independently under their own brand. Designed for recruiters who are working for an agency, corporate HR department or independently, JobZen’s bundled services equip individuals to build their own enterprise with the support of qualified professionals. JobZen Associates retain up to 90% of fees and still enjoy the benefits of working in a larger organization.

JobZen services include: brand development, marketing, mentoring, technology, training, administration, accounting, employer of record (EOR) services, contractor financing, and access to a network of independent recruiters.

The founder and President of JobZen, Brian Kennedy, explains, “It is increasingly apparent that there is a mind-set in the staffing industry that is limiting the growth of top performers. Over the last decade market corrections and new technologies, such as the internet, have added layers of complexity to the recruiter’s world and changed the way they do business.

The net result has been an industry of high-performers who are saddled with antiquated business models that don’t promote personal growth and drastically limit earning potential. Recruiters are expected to find better jobs for other people yet in many cases the recruiters themselves are undervalued and poorly managed by their employers.

The JobZen model has been designed to meet the unmet needs of today’s staffing professionals. Senior recruiters have developed networks of relationships based on trust and have spent many years building their personal “brands”. JobZen supports those brands and provides the infrastructure and services that allow those performers to focus their time and energy on business development and service delivery, without the distraction and time consumption of managing administration.

We believe senior recruiters have earned the right to work at their own pace, work when they need to, work where they want to and earn what they’re worth.”

Mr. Kennedy added, “We're extremely pleased to announce that “Science of Staffing” (www. scienceofstaffing. com), a leader in recruitment of clinical and health care professionals has joined JobZen. We are very excited to have this highly regarded organization join the JobZen family.”

Ventilation Ductwork Contract Gets Underway at Sellafield

Senior Hargreaves has been involved in ventilation works at Sellafield for over 30 years. The company are commencing work on a major contract, the Separation Area Ventilation (SAV) project. This involves the replacement of legacy ventilation systems, the re-routing of exhaust ductwork and the creation of new filters and discharge stack.

(PRWeb UK) February 28, 2010

Senior Hargreaves has been involved in ventilation works at Sellafield for over 30 years. The company are commencing work on a major contract, the Separation Area Ventilation (SAV) project. This involves the replacement of legacy ventilation systems, the re-routing of exhaust ductwork and the creation of new filters and discharge stack.

“There are probably very few significant building on site built during the last three decades to which we have not supplied ductwork. The nuclear industry has very exacting demands and we are pleased to meet these standards, deliver projects to schedule and have an exemplary health and safety record,” explained managing director Kevin White.

To permit the decommissioning of the stack associated with the primary separation and head end facility, a major landmark on the site dating from the 1940’s, a new stack, filters and fan house and a major rerouting of ventilation from the SAV building is required. This will involve the fabrication of a network of 3000 metres of ductwork and its installation onto existing and new high level pipe bridges around the site. The scope of the Hargreaves work includes all ductwork, flues, filter banks and fan housings. To meet technical needs and minimise long-term maintenance approximately 500 tonnes of stainless steel will be required.

Within an overall scheme valued at £80 million, the Hargreaves component will be £16 million. Main contractors for the project are Doosan Babcock. Kier Construction, Balfour Beatty Engineering Services, Jacobs Engineering, Bierrum International and Shepley Engineers are also contributing specialist construction and engineering skills.

Central Park Pushcarts Offer Creature Comforts Featuring Latka's Delicious Doggie Treats

Central Park Pushcarts Offer Creature Comforts Featuring Latka's Delicious Doggie Treats

(PRWEB) May 12, 2004

Latka's Delicious Doggie Treats, a premium brand of wholesome, all natural dog biscuits, is pleased to announce their dog treats are now being sold via pushcarts throughout New York City's world famous Central Park.

"Every dog has its day, and now Central Park hounds will have theirs!" said Beth Goldberg, owner of Latka's Treats LLC. "No bones about it, park pushcarts are no longer just for delicious hot dogs now they re for 'real dogs,' too!"

Since public parks serve as city dogs' backyards, having healthy dog snacks available for purchase is sure to get tails wagging. And hot dog concessionaires are leading the pack selling Latka's Delicious Doggie Treats via their Central Park carts.

Pushcarts offer Latka's Treats for dogs of all sizes, including: snack packs filled with mini bite - sized treats, and 7-inch big bite bone-shaped biscuits, ideal for dogs with larger appetites. Made from human grade ingredients, the treats are individually wrapped and make convenient snacks for dogs on the go.

"We are delighted to make our biscuits available to Central Park dogs," said Goldberg. "Latka's Treats are truly a breed apart! And with thousands of dogs visiting the park every week, all natural biscuits are an ideal product to offer our four-footed friends."

New Yorkers are known for pampering their pets, and they are in good company. According to 2003 American Pet Products Manufacturers Association's (APPMA) statistics: United States pet owners will spend an estimated $31 billion on their animals this year. And with APPMA figures stating one in four U. S. households have a dog, New York City can count an estimated 1.5 million canine citizens.

Selling Latka's Delicious Doggie Treats in Central Park presents an exciting opportunity for everyone involved. Tapping the "park pooch" niche gives park pushcarts an opportunity to expand their customer base. Offering biscuits in dog-friendly Central Park makes canines and their human companions feel welcome and wanted. And distribution throughout park pushcarts gives Latka's Treats a unique way to introduce their fast growing brand to the millions of residents and tourists who visit Central Park each year.

Latka's Delicious Doggie Treats is committed to doing well by doing good. Though the brand is just over a year old, Latka's Treats regularly makes in-kind and cash donations to help raise funds and awareness for numerous animal organizations. Latka's Treats regularly supports canine park groups such as Central Park PAWS and FLORAL (Friends & Lovers of Riverside Area Life), as well as animal welfare organizations such as Dogswalk Against Cancer, Animal Haven, Stray from the Heart, Broadway Barks and the Humane Society of New York.
