TrekDesk Launches Cooperative Program Aimed at Improving Health of Native Americans

Payton Bordley, Director of Native American Programs for TrekDesk Treadmill Desks announces the firm’s first cooperative program aimed at re-introducing movement and improving the health of Native Americans.

Phoenix, AZ (Vocus) November 13, 2010

TrekDesk Treadmill Desks’ director of Native American Programs, Payton Bordley, announced today a cooperative program with the Skokomish Tribal Health Clinic in Washington State aimed at raising awareness of the dangers of sedentary lifestyles in Native American communities.

“TrekDesk has raised awareness regarding the health risks associated with sedentary lifestyles on a national basis but it has always been my goal to reach the Native American community where the impact of 58 obesity - related diseases is most dire,” stated Bordley. “I am very excited at the opportunity of introducing the health benefits of the TrekDesk on my reservation with the assistance of the Skokomish Health Clinic.”

“I will be working with employees of the Skokomish Health Clinic who normally are desk bound throughout the day and will track their improvement in a number of key areas including weight, blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol levels. Native populations in America face a 230% higher risk of developing Type 2 diabetes than the general population and I believe that movement and the realization of its benefits is the solution to this nationwide challenge.”

“Ultimately, my goal is to spread awareness nationally to the Native communities that we are especially impacted by lack of movement due to the modern work environment. Hunter gatherers were not meant to be confined to a desk and I believe this is the largest contributor to our health challenges today,” concluded Bordley.

Designed to fit any existing treadmill, TrekDesk is an affordable, full sized workstation that allows individuals the opportunity to gain the necessary amount of exercise daily to maintain health, boost mood and mental abilities, and prevent disease without taking any extra time out of the day.

TrekDesk is currently available for sale online at TrekDesk. com for $479.00 including free shipping. Native communities interested in participating in a movement campaign can contact Payton Bordley at info@trekdesk. com.
