Tampa, FL (PRWEB) June 16, 2010
Senior citizens wanting to learn more about “Long Term Care” should circle June 29 on their calendar. That’s the day Sweet Water at Largo will host an Open House featuring two speakers from Amerigroup, a company that works exclusively through publicly funded programs such as Medicaid and Medicare.
The topic is the “Long Term Care Diversion Waiver,” a program designed to help seniors get the services they need to continue living at home or in an assisted living facility. The event will take place Tuesday, June 29, from 2-4 p. m., in the Activities Room of the assisted living facility at 1290 Walsingham Rd., Largo, FL 33778.
There is no charge to attend, organizers said. RSVP is preferred, but not required. RSVP to Kory at (813) 389-1045 or to Lory or Heather at (727) 397-9597. An interactive map showing the location of the facility is available at www. SweetWaterAssistedLiving. com. Finger food and drinks will be served, a spokesperson said.
The featured speakers are Kristina Di Ilio, Provider Relations Representative for Amerigroup Community Care, Long Term Care Diversion; and Laura Withrow, Case Manager Supervisor.
“Kristina Di Ilio has been in the healthcare industry since 1996 on every side of the spectrum and has been with Amerigroup for four years,” said Sweet Water owner and Administrator Kory Stoeckle. “Laura Withrow has worked in the long-term care industry since 1992 as a nursing home Social Worker and Admissions Director and has been with Amerigroup for four years.”
Stoeckle and her husband Michael became involved in senior assisted living nearly a dozen years ago. They were looking for a special niche in terms of senior housing, something more personal than large corporate assisted living facilities but, at the same time, more refined than the converted homes offered by some "Mom and Pop" operations.
The Stoeckles decided to develop their own special formula and created what they call "Excellence in Senior Care" for their residents. The Open House program for senior citizens on June 29 is representative of that personalized approach, as well as being an example of their goal to be a resource to the community.
Sweet Water at Largo is at 11290 Walsingham Rd., Largo, FL, 33778. It is licensed by the state of Florida Agency for Health Care Administration as an Assisted Living Facility. License # AL8175.
