“For my whole life I have strived to find a balance between staying slim and healthy and enjoying the fattening foods I love. People think that because I am The Bikini Chef being thin comes easy for me. It doesn’t,” says Chef Susan. “A few years ago I was stress eating and not exercising. I gained more weight than I ever have. So I made the commitment to get back on track. It wasn’t easy and it didn’t come quickly but I stayed with it and learned I could still eat my favorite foods but just make them ‘skinny.’”

Low-calorie and fat-free ingredients are easier than ever to find, come in a variety of brands, and are high in quality and flavor, making it easy and delicious to create low calorie and low fat meals. Susan gives home cooks the “skinny” on ingredient substitutions in the chapter, The Skinny on Substitutions. “We all have our favorite ‘comfort’ foods that we routinely turn to when stressed or unhappy. For all the quick satisfaction we may feel when we eat those foods, what is not satisfying is how full and heavy we feel afterwards. I developed my recipes in an easy-to-follow manner so that anyone can achieve diet freedom and enjoy favorite foods without guilt.”

The Bikini Chef has taken the guess-work out of substituting healthy, lower-calorie ingredients and has turned some of our favorite high-calorie recipes into healthy meals we can enjoy every day for any occasion.

About Chef Susan Irby, The Bikini Chef

Born in Marietta, Georgia, Chef Susan Irby may as well be from Alabama as that is where her fondest memories are from. “My family had an amazing lake cabin in Alabama. It was small and simple, yet we had the best times there. It was there we ended our day of playing on the lake by cooking in our bikinis and having dinner. That’s really where ‘Bikini Cooking’ and ‘The Bikini Chef’ truly began.” Growing up cooking with her mother, Susan’s culinary passion took hold and soon she began working in premiere restaurants in Italy and France. Returning to the United States, Susan cooked with several Master Chefs including Todd English, Ming Tsai, Rocco Dispirito, Sherry Yard, and George McNeill. She then began teaching cooking classes for gourmet markets and culinary schools such as Whole Foods, Chef’s Inc, and Sur La Table, as well as preparing dishes for the World President’s Organization, Bloomingdales, and the Los Angeles Unified School District’s “Nutrition in the Schools” program among others. Susan is the author of several cookbooks including: The $7 a Meal Quick & Easy Cookbook, The $7 a Meal Healthy Cookbook, and Cooking with Susan: Southern Family Favorites. A favorite guest on radio and television, Susan is host of The Bikini Lifestyle with Susan Irby the Bikini Chef on KFWB News Talk Radio 980 in Los Angeles where she discusses all things food and nutrition with guests such as Wolfgang Puck, Giuliano Hazan, Divya Gugnani, Dr. Murad, Ben Ford, and Joachim Splichal. As a caterer and chef, Susan has cooked for celebrities including Billy Bush, David Spade, Kate Sagal, James Garner, and Patrick Swayze. She lives in Orange County, CA with her husband and daughter.

Lots o’ Flavor Chicken Salad on Papaya Boat
Serves 4

Substituting nonfat vanilla yogurt for high-fat mayonnaise not only reduces the calories and fat, but also adds a delicious element of flavor to this salad favorite. Omitting cooking oil and poaching the chicken in water is healthy and nearly fat-free.

Nonstick cooking spray
2 papayas, halved and seeded
1 boneless, skinless chicken breast, chopped into 2-inch cubes
¼ cup water, or as needed
½ cup nonfat vanilla or plain yogurt
½ tablespoon honey
¼ teaspoon sea salt
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon fresh finely grated lemon zest
½ cup green seedless grapes, halved
¼ cup chopped celery

1. Spray a medium skillet with nonstick spray and heat on medium. Add the chicken and 2 tablespoons water. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes, adding water as needed to prevent burning. Cook the chicken until done, about 2 minutes longer. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.

2.  In medium mixing bowl, combine the yogurt, honey, salt, pepper, and lemon zest, and whisk until well combined. Toss with the grapes, celery, and chicken until well coated. Spoon equally into the papaya halves.

Skinny Secret
Part of feeling satisfied when eating includes tantalizing your taste buds with a variety of textures and flavors. In this recipe, the creaminess of the yogurt mixture soothes the palate while your other taste buds enjoy the crunch of fresh celery and the heartiness of the chicken.

Rock ’n’ Roll Shrimp Risotto
Serves 4

Risotto sometimes gets a bad rap, but it’s usually because of all the cheese. Skip the cheese but maximize the flavor with fresh asparagus and lemon.

1 tablespoon olive oil
½ white or yellow onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, chopped
Fine zest of 1 lemon
½ cup white wine such as sauvignon blanc
½ cup chopped asparagus tips
1½ cups arborio rice
5 cups low-sodium chicken broth, brought to a boil and simmering
½ pound cooked medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
Sea salt to taste
Black pepper to taste

1. In a large-quart boiler, heat the olive oil on medium. Add the onion, garlic, and lemon zest. Sauté until the onion is tender, about 4 minutes. Add the wine and asparagus tips. Cook about 1 minute. Add the rice and stir to brown, about 2 minutes. Add ½ cup of the hot chicken broth to the rice mixture. Cook, stirring frequently, until the moisture has been absorbed.
2. Continue adding the broth ½ cup at a time until all the broth has been added. Once all the broth has been added, cook until the rice is soft but still slightly al dente. Add the shrimp, season with salt and pepper, and serve in ¾ - cup portions.

Coffee has a strong flavor that most people love, even in baked goods. Using it in this recipe is a perfect way to keep flavor high without adding any fat or calories. In addition, applesauce is naturally sweet and can be used to substitute for some or all of the sugar in recipes. Then, the egg whites help balance out the density of the
Applesauce, keeping your recipes lighter in texture.

Nonstick cooking spray
? cup unsweetened cocoa
? cup plain flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon sea salt
? cup granulated sugar
? cup water
1 teaspoon instant coffee
? cup applesauce
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 egg whites

2.  In a small-quart boiler, bring the water to a boil. Remove from heat and add the coffee; stir to dissolve. In a small bowl, combine the applesauce, vanilla, and egg whites. Mix well. Add the coffee mixture and mix well. Pour the liquid mixture into the dry mixture and mix well.

2. Pour the mixture into the prepared dish. Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes, then run a knife around the edges to loosen. When cooled completely, slice into 2-inch squares and serve.

Rural Health Information Exchange Goes Live with Orion Health™

Rural Health Information Exchange Goes Live with Orion Health™

Western Washington Rural Health Care Collaborative (WWRHCC), is now live with a web-based health information exchange (HIE) to facilitate electronic information sharing between three previously disparate, critical access hospitals and the Level I Trauma Center for Washington.

Santa Monica, CA (PRWEB) July 7, 2009

Western Washington Rural Health Care Collaborative (http://wwrhcc. org/) (WWRHCC), a non-profit rural health network, is now live with a web-based health information exchange (HIE) to facilitate electronic information sharing between three, expanding to nine, previously disparate, critical access hospitals and the Level I Trauma Center for Washington. The collaborative HIE, funded through a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and the Washington State Department of Health (http://www. doh. wa. gov/hsqa/ocrh/), Office of Community and Rural Health grant award, is supported by standards-based technology from Orion Health.

WWRHCC Executive Director Elizabeth Floersheim says the Collaborative wanted to take charge of health care quality and delivery in their own communities. Selecting Orion Health was the obvious choice, after reviewing several other products. Orion Health was able to provide technology to implement a world class, complete HIE infrastructure solution including messaging, clinical data repository, master patient index, and tele-pharmacy capabilities at the most competitive price.

"Without Orion Health's technology, this HIE would not be in existence today. The solution's low cost of ownership and specialized training options meant our own IT staff would be able to support and manage the project after the initial implementation. Rural organizations need solutions that meet constrained budget and personnel restraints and are easy to customize and implement," says Ms. Floersheim.

WWRHCC is comprised of nine federally designated critical access hospitals serving all or portions of nine Western Washington counties. Allowing these disparate hospitals to exchange patient information was critical in achieving their goal of reducing costs and improving quality of care through a sharing of resources across the region i. e. tele-Pharmacy. Additionally, the ability to provide real-time information when transferring a trauma patient to Seattle will decrease wait time and improve the continuity of care for rural patients.

In looking to implement an HIE, the collaborative faced challenges similar to many rural community healthcare organizations - restrictions on funding, IT personnel and opposing requirements. The HRSA-WA DOH grant award provided a conservative fixed budget, but required additional functionality for WWRHCC to adhere to. Orion Health was able to help WWRHCC meet functional, budgetary and resource challenges by providing a low-cost HIE solution that was capable of being managed by minimal internal resources.

Orion Health President of North America and EMEA Operations Paul Viskovich, says WWRHCC showcases Orion Heath's ability to provide solutions that fit the needs of small rural HIEs.

"Rural communities face many challenges, especially when it comes to access of quality and comprehensive health care services. Yet for many around the U. S. and the world, these rural healthcare facilities are their only source of healthcare. We were able to offer WWRHCC a health information infrastructure as good or better as any HIE in the country," Mr. Viskovich continued.

Orion Health solutions use standards-based technology to integrate data within a facility and external partners without incurring costly rip and replace approaches. Currently the company helps facilities and healthcare communities that connect 35 million patients with tens of thousands of active users.

Formed in 2003, the Western Washington Rural Health Care Collaborative (WWRHCC) is an incorporated non-profit Rural Health Network. The Collaborative is comprised of nine federally designated rural Critical Access Hospitals serving all or portions of nine Western Washington counties, with a combined network area population of over 154,000. We are managed by an Executive Director, and guided by an exceptionally "hands-on" Board of Directors.

Cities Get Smart with Wireless Sensor Networking

Cities Get Smart with Wireless Sensor Networking

Municipalities worldwide are adopting Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) technology to make their cities safer, healthier, greener, and more productive, according to a recent research study by ON World.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) July 10, 2007

Municipalities worldwide are adopting Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) technology to make their cities safer, healthier, greener, and more productive, according to a recent research study by ON World.

"WSN solutions for Smart Cities are being driven by increased spending on wireless broadband infrastructure, standards such as IEEE802.15.4 and ZigBee, increasing Green regulations, and the ongoing need for improved public safety," says Mareca Hatler, Director of Research.

Commercial WSN solutions for transportation, public safety, and municipal services are currently deployed in cities such as San Francisco, Oakland, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Songo, South Korea. From several recent surveys with 220 North American municipalities and public safety organizations, ON World found that cities are highly motivated to adopt WSN over the next 18-24 months for transportation, public safety, utility networks, and energy management.

A few of ON World's research findings are the following:

Public safety
Nearly two thirds (62%) of municipalities indicate that public safety is the major driver for adopting new technologies such as wireless broadband or WSN. With no suitable competing alternatives, personnel safety and locating is the most in-demand public safety WSN solution today.

Thirty-five (35) percent of municipalities are highly interested in adopting a wireless traffic management system. Forty-on (41) percent are highly interested in wireless parking management Two-thirds of interviewees with >500,000 residents are highly interested in adopting wireless technologies for parking management.

Utility Networks

Nearly half of the surveyed municipalities indicate that they are planning to adopt an advanced automated meter reading within the next 18 months. Of those with AMR plans, 35 percent plan to adopt Wireless Sensor Network solutions that will enable them to implement load management, outage management, and other advanced services that are not possible with existing AMR systems.

Evidence that the Wireless Smart City trend is underway includes the following:

A number of WSN startups such as ACME Innovations, Sensys Systems, Streetline Networks, Spark Parking, and VehicleSense are providing mesh wireless sensor network systems and services for traffic monitoring and parking management. Moteiv, in partnership with UC Berkeley, Harvard, CITRIS, and the Chicago Fire Department, has developed a mobile WSN system for firefighter safety. In April, the Ministry of Information and Communication of Korea announced that it had selected the Incheon Free Economic Zone as a test-bed for the introduction of a city of ubiquity, or 'u-City.' The u-City will be an advanced digital city that will showcase the benefits of a modern networked city using technologies such as RFID and WSN. South Korea plans to spend $25 billion on the u-City over the next seven years. Wireless broadband adoption has picked up momentum with hundreds of cities worldwide planning or deploying wireless high speed IP based networks. These high bandwidth, low cost broadband networks give municipal workers and residents mobile access to data services such as WSN.

ON World's research study, "WSN for Smart Cities," includes the survey results from phone interviews with 220 North American municipal IT directors, CIOs, and Chiefs of Police and Fire Departments; market size forecasts; value system charts of 39 companies that are providing municipal wireless networking equipment, WSN systems, and services; and profiles on the top municipal WSN innovators.

The completed study is priced at $499 and includes a PowerPoint presentation. It can be downloaded immediately from: http://www. onworld. com/smartcities (http://www. onworld. com/smartcities)

PS Communications Optimizes Your Montreal, Quebec Website with the Best Possible Ranking, Placement and Positioning in the Search Engines

There’s a newcomer in the world of search engine optimization called PS Communications (http://www. pscommunications. org). They are located in Montreal and serve the entire province of Quebec. (PRWEB) May 16, 2010

There’s a newcomer in the world of search engine optimization called PS Communications (http://www. pscommunications. org (http://www. pscommunications. org)). They are located in Montreal and serve the entire province of Quebec. They offer their services for either French or English related websites that have at least one product or service to offer.

Pascal Simard is the owner of PS Communications (http://www. pscommunications. org (http://www. pscommunications. org)) and he has actively been around the internet marketing community since April of 2006. He first tried to develop various affiliate programs while utilizing a wide range of tools available on the web. He claims that the internet world is constantly evolving and it’s quite hard for a novice or a simple casual internet marketer to keep up with the new trends popping up left and right.

Here’s what Pascal had to say in regards to the current internet marketing world: "There are many products and services out there to help promote websites and traffic but the fact remains that only a handful are truly useful. Everyone knows that the foundation to optimize a website is to have good content and top notch key words related to a specific market. The tricky part is to find the correct tools in order to then increase the number of back links or opt-in subscribers that will radically increase a website’s incoming traffic."

Mr. Simard started out like most internet marketers do. He spent quite a bit of money trying out different products and services. He says there’s no magic solution, as hard work and dedication are the keys to understand and then correctly implement what truly works. I asked Pascal what distinguishes PS Communications (http://www. pscommunications. org (http://www. pscommunications. org)) from any other competitor within his field of work in his specific market. This is what he had to say : "There are two main things that makes us stand out. The first is how affordable our services are compared to 95% of the other internet marketers out there. The second is the way we go about increasing a website’s traffic. We never change the content of our customers’ websites, instead we create a specific webpage on our own website that we optimize, using their images, colors and links which will always redirect customers to the right area on the main website. That way, we always keep a better control of the optimized webpage and also take advantage of our own site’s current status on the web."

PS Communications guarantees top ten rankings in the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo & Bing. They offer the best possible ranking, placement and positioning for any specific products or services and they actively assist businesses eager to develop specific affiliate programs on the web. They have already successfully helped companies such as IcePro (synthetic ice rinks) and Organo Gold (healthy ganoderma coffee) reach top rankings in the main search engines.

PS Communications has been officially online since September of 2009. You can contact them for a free estimate by phone at 514-400-1653, by email at montreal(dot)pscommunications(at)yahoo(dot)ca or directly from their website at http://www. pscommunications. org (http://www. pscommunications. org).

Social Security Disability Insurance Recipients To Get Extra $250 By Summer

Social Security Disability Insurance Recipients To Get Extra $250 By Summer

Allsup explains one-time $250 bonus coming from $787 billion national stimulus package

Belleville, IL (Vocus) February 26, 2009

Belleville, Ill – Social Security Disability Insurance recipients can look forward to receiving a one-time $250 bonus payment by early summer, according to Allsup, which represents tens of thousands of people in the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) process each year. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, recently signed by President Obama, launches a $787 billion national economic stimulus package that includes the one-time $250 payments to those eligible for SSDI, Social Security retirement, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), railroad retirement benefits and U. S. veterans disability compensation or pension benefits.

“This additional income, though minimal, can help offset the rising costs for people with disabilities,” said Paul Gada, personal financial planning director at Allsup. “Recipients may want to consider using it toward healthcare costs, especially if they are still in the 24-month waiting period to become eligible for Medicare benefits.”

The good news is even better for couples who receive Social Security benefits—because each recipient will receive a one-time $250 payment. “That means you’ll have an additional $500 in income available, which could be an important cushion,” said Mr. Gada. “For example, this amount could be put toward an emergency fund.”

SSDI is a federally mandated insurance program overseen by the Social Security Administration (SSA) that operates separately from the retirement and SSI programs. SSDI provides monthly benefits to individuals who are under full retirement age (age 65 or older) and who can no longer work because of a disability (injury, illness or condition) that is expected to last for at least 12 months or is terminal. Individuals must have paid FICA taxes to be eligible. More details are provided in the “SSDI Overview” on Allsup. com.

More Details On The $250 Bonus Payments
To help clarify details about the $250 bonuses to SSDI recipients, Allsup has outlined answers to common questions about the one-time payment.

Who is eligible for the $250?
Anyone who was receiving SSDI benefits anytime during the three-month time period of Nov. 1, 2008, through Jan. 31, 2009 will receive a bonus check. In addition, beneficiaries in the Social Security retirement, SSI, railroad retirement and veterans benefits programs are eligible.

What if I got my SSDI in February 2009?
Unfortunately, you will not receive the one-time $250 payment because your entitlement date was after Jan. 31, 2009.

When does the payment go out?
The Social Security Administration expects everyone who is entitled to receive their payment by late May 2009.

If I’m eligible, how do I get the payment?
You do not need to do anything. There is no paperwork required. You will receive the additional payment automatically using the same method that you receive your regular benefits (i. e. direct deposit, mailed check).

Will I get more than one $250 payment?
Recipients are only entitled to one $250 bonus. It does not matter if you are on both SSDI, SSI or other benefit programs.

My children get dependent benefits, so will they also get a $250 bonus?
No, children under age 18 (19 if still in high school) who receive Social Security benefits will not receive a bonus. However, disabled adult children will receive a payment.

If my spouse and I are both on Social Security, do we only get one $250 payment?
No, each adult receiving Social Security benefits will receive a $250 payment. This means both you and your spouse will receive payments.

Will this payment affect my taxes?
No, the one-time $250 payment will not be counted toward gross income for your federal income tax.

What if I don’t get the payment?
If you don’t receive a payment by June 4, 2009, the SSA recommends contacting your local Social Security office or calling (800) 772-1213 to report that your payment did not arrive.

Allsup, Belleville, Ill., is a leading nationwide provider of financial and healthcare related services to people with disabilities. Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2009, Allsup has helped more than 110,000 people receive their entitled Social Security Disability Insurance and Medicare benefits. Allsup employs more than 550 professionals who deliver services directly to consumers and their families, or through their employers and long-term disability insurance carriers. Experts Bank on Community Institutions for Small to Mid-Sized Businesses

Big commercial banking institutions are a must for big business. According to most veterans of the banking industry, when a corporation has multiple out-of-state funds, asset-based inventory, and needs international lines of credit, an international commercial institution is just about the only banking partner they can team up with. Although not always gentle, these commercial giants are essential to keeping the wheels of big business in motion.

Clinton, NJ (PRWEB) September 24, 2009

However, small and mid-sized businesses do much better at community banks, according to the watchdogs of commercial banking. One such community bank that fits this description is Unity Bank.

Unity Bank is a mid-sized community institution with 16 branches. It's President, James Hughes, says Unity is representative of a regional bank in that its services are focused on helping area businesses grow and thrive. "As do many banks our size throughout the country, we provide a combination of critical business services and small business loans," says Hughes. "Of course, we strive to do it better than most."

Founded in 1991, Unity Bank has been designated a Preferred Lender by the Small Business Administration, based on its lending track record. It offers a one-stop suite of services to area business, and has set up what the bank calls its Small Business Capital Group to address the specific needs of their commercial customers. "We're dedicated to helping local businesses stay healthy and maintain profitability," says Hughes, "and that goes beyond everyday banking services. We develop personal relationships with our customers, and everything we do on their behalf takes into consideration the welfare of the community as a whole. That's not the way the international banking institutions think. They're just not built to operate that way."

Each business customer at Unity Bank is assigned a Relationship Manager, as well as a loan officer, according to Hughes. "It's their job to help our customers anticipate their banking needs by providing an outside perspective on how local trends and outside influences may affect their businesses."

Unity Bank began as First Community Bank in 1991 with two branches and thirty employees. It now employs over one hundred and sixty men and women in Hunterdon, Middlesex, Somerset, Union and Warren counties in New Jersey, and Northampton County in Pennsylvania.

Megan Bond Receives Prestigious Lambda Alpha Scholarship for Anthropology

"First in the nation" is not an unattainable title for many students at the Robert E. Cook Honors College. Megan Bond accepted her anthropology degree with the knowledge that, as the sole recipient of the National Lambda Alpha Charles Jenkins Scholarship, she is well on her way to emerging as one of the top minds in her field.

Indiana, PA (PRWEB) June 2, 2008

"First in the nation" is not an unattainable title for many students at the Robert E. Cook Honors College (http://www. iup. edu/honors). Megan Bond accepted her anthropology degree (http://www. iup. edu/anthropology) with the knowledge that, as the sole recipient of the National Lambda Alpha Charles Jenkins Scholarship, she is well on her way to emerging as one of the top minds in her field. The $5,000 scholarship is awarded to one graduating senior per year by Lambda Alpha, the only national honorary society for anthropology. Of all the students nominated by the organization's 165 chapters, Ms. Bond was selected as the candidate who most strikingly embodied Lambda Alpha's ideals. According to Megan, the scholarship is awarded to the student who has made the most "distinguished achievement by reason of noteworthy contribution in the advancement of the study of anthropology." She was nominated by IUP's Department of Anthropology in January, and what was billed to her as a "long shot" has now become a very notable reality.

As this year's scholarship winner, Megan will also be afforded the opportunity to publish an article-length manuscript of her original work in Lambda Alpha's journal. Her study focused on the process of adjustment for students from Bangalore, India who came to study at IUP.

"I did the study with the Indian students at IUP for my class in ethnographic research methods with Dr. Chaiken last fall," Megan explains. "I became interested in that population when I realized that I was surrounded by Indian international students around my home at Copper Beech. I saw that they formed an enclave for themselves in this neighborhood and decided to investigate the changes they were in the process of undergoing. I had the opportunity to use the skills I was learning in class and apply them in the community, discovering that human life is truly interesting everywhere you look."

Megan attributes much of her success to the many advantages that were available to her as an RECHC student. "I think that I got the award because of my experiences made possible by the enhancement fund," she says. "I had many plans and goals but little resources, and the enhancement fund provided me with the opportunity to achieve what I have. It helped me begin what I want to do for the rest of my life."

Megan's plans have literally taken her across the world. Many students in the Honors College take advantage of the Robert E. Cook Enhancement Fund, a blessing for students who, like Megan, want to reach beyond the pages of their textbooks to gain real-world experience in their fields. During her years at IUP, she participated in an ethnographic field school in Peru, a study abroad program in Valladolid, Spain, and the Anthropological Study Odyssey to Belize and Guatemala.

"I have found that experiences abroad not only prepared me to live in an increasingly global world, but they have helped me grow personally, intellectually, and professionally. I have only been traveling and working abroad for two years, but in that short period of time I have been able to live in different cultures and understand and apply what I have learned in anthropology classes. I never would have imagined that I could move overseas for months at a time, not knowing anyone or even really comprehending the language that is spoken there, and live and learn in the ways that I have. Professionally, my international experience has led to accomplishments both here an abroad. I have been able to complete independent research projects and present at a national conference. These addition to my education definitely contributed to my future and helped ensure that I would be admitted into graduate school," Megan says.

While many other undergraduates were doing their research through Google Scholar, Megan was quite literally up to her elbows in world cultures. This kind of experience is precisely what made her a strong candidate for the National Lambda Alpha Charles Jenkins Scholarship and what will sustain her through her doctoral studies at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. She will be pursuing a Ph. D. in Cultural Anthropology with a concentration in Medical Anthropology starting this fall.

"I want to investigate the sociocultural, behavioral, economic, and political factors related to food, nutrition, and health, especially in Latin America. I am interested in Applied Anthropology (my undergraduate concentration), with which I can take what is learned about food, nutrition, and health and develop possible solutions in attempt to ameliorate problems related to health and nutrition. As part of my education at SMU, I was also given a research assistantship and a teaching assistantship. I want to continue research, develop programs that promote positive change, and teach at the university level to introduce students to anthropology and the worldview that I think goes along with it."

Megan's auspicious beginning suggests that Dallas will serve as her launching pad for many international and academic adventures to come.

CEIR Releases Fifth Annual Index

CEIR Releases Fifth Annual Index

Exhibition Industry Grows 3.2 Percent in 2007

Dallas (PRWEB) April 8, 2008

The exhibition industry grew 3.2% in 2007, according to the fifth annual Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR) Index report, which provides exhibition industry performance data for 11 key industry sectors. The 2007 industry growth rate was just below the 4.8% gain posted in 2006, but marked the fifth consecutive year of industry expansion and surpassed the 2.2% growth rate for real U. S. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) year-over-year. The gain in 2007 also drove a 2.5% CAGR (compound annual growth rate) increase from 2000-2007, the period covered by this report.

More than 300 events contributed data for this report, and the results show that the exhibition industry is healthy, vibrant and growing. As an objective measure of the annual performance of the exhibition industry, the CEIR Index measures year-over-year changes in four key metrics to determine overall performance: Net Square Feet; Attendees; Exhibitors; and Revenue.

Over the course of the period covered by this report (2000-2007), all four exhibition industry metrics rose on a CAGR basis: Net Square Feet (+3.1%); Revenue (+3.1%); Attendees (+2.0%); and Exhibitors (+1.5%). From 2006 to 2007, Revenue increased 6.8%, followed by 4.9%, 0.9% and 0.3% gains in Attendees, Exhibitors and Net Square Feet, respectively.

From 2006 to 2007, exhibition industry growth was led by the Government, Public and Nonprofit Services sector (+12.6%), while the Building, Construction, Home and Repair sector experienced a slight downturn. Several market sectors drove growth for the industry from 2000 to 2007, including Sports, Travel, Entertainment, Art and Consumer Services (+5.3% CAGR); Transportation (+5.0% CAGR); and Building, Construction, Home and Repair (+4.3% CAGR). Only the Consumer Goods and Retail Trade and Communications and Information Technology sectors decreased on a CAGR basis from 2000 to 2007. The attached chart shows the rankings of sectors from 2000 to 2007 and for 2006 versus 2007.

Veris Consulting, a leading exhibition industry research consultancy, collected the data from the more than 300 events and created the CEIR Index results. The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Travel & Tourism Industry Center at the University of South Carolina provided economic analysis for the CEIR Index. The Jordan, Edmiston Group, Inc. (JEGI), the leading independent investment banking firm for the media and information industries, provided year-over-year analysis of exhibition performance for the 11 industry sectors covered by this report. Trade Show Executive, an award-winning magazine covering the trade show industry, provided design elements for the final report. Other contributors to the CEIR Index included: American Business Media (ABM); the Exhibition Industry Foundation (EIF); the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE); the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA); and the Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO).

The full report was presented by CEIR President and CEO Douglas L. Ducate, CEM, CMP at the SISO CEO Summit, which was held April 6-8 in St. Petersburg, Florida. The complete CEIR Index can be purchased through CEIR at www. ceir. org.

Schools Preparing Students for Health and Fitness Careers

Schools Preparing Students for Health and Fitness Careers

Deciding on which school to attend can be confusing. Students interested in the strength and conditioning field can now quickly determine which institutions have met minimal requirements recommended by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

(PRWEB) March 18, 2004

Students interested in the strength and conditioning profession, who have struggled determining which school to attend, will now be able to quickly select institutions that have met minimal requirements thanks to the National Strength and Conditioning AssociationÂ’s (NSCA) Education Recognition Program.

Careers in the strength and conditioning field involve more than just an interest in health and fitness. Students wanting to excel in the strength and conditioning profession need a formal education encompassing sport and exercise science, anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, and nutrition.

With this shift to a more formal education, it is important for students preparing for careers in strength and conditioning to know which schools provide well-run instruction.

“The Education Recognition Program is the first recognition of its kind that provides academic institutions with a tool to attract students who are interested in pursuing a career in strength training and conditioning,” Michael Barnes, NSCA Education Director, said.

The program, currently in its third year, recognizes 48 institutions worldwide whose strength and conditioning curriculums have met requirements recommended by the NSCA. The program benefits the student, institution, and the potential athletes and clients of those who graduate from these schools.

For a complete list of recognized schools, or to receive a program application, visit the NSCA web site at www. nsca-lift. org/ERP (http://www. nsca-lift. org/ERP) or call 1-800-815-6826. Applications are reviewed by the NSCA twice each year—January 1 and June 1.

About the NSCA

The National Strength and Conditioning Association is the leading authority on strength training and conditioning. For more than 26 years, the NSCA has bridged science and application to provide reliable, research-based, strength and conditioning information to its members and the general public. With nearly 30,000 members, the NSCA is the largest health and fitness association in the world. For more information on NSCA professional journals, cutting edge conferences, educational text and videos, or other services, visit the website at www. nsca-lift. org.

Canadian Government Bending Under Pressure from US Pharmaceutical Industry

Canadian Government Bending Under Pressure from US Pharmaceutical Industry

Canadian Health Minister is putting pressure on Canadian physicians who co sign US prescription, in order for them to be filled through Canadian pharmacies.

(PRWEB) January 12, 2005

It seems that the Canadian Government may have finally given in to US Pharmaceutical lobbying. Recently, Canadian Health Minister Ujjal Dosanjh stated that the government will crack down on the Canadian mail order pharmaceutical industry. This crackdown would devastate the industry and it would also shut the door on a service that many senior citizens have come to rely on to safely get the prescription drugs at prices they can afford.

The government plans on attacking Canadian doctors who issue prescription for US patients after reviewing their medical file, but without physically examining them. This is done in order to comply with Canadian health practices which state that a prescription can be filled only if reviewed by a Canadian doctor. Now, the government reasons that this system is unethical and unsafe and plans on amending the Canadian Food and Drug Act so that Canadian doctors can only issue a prescription if they have examined the patient personally. This essentially means that the US patients will have to come to Canada and visit a Canadian doctor in order to be able to pay the Canadian prices for the medications and there will be no place for mail order pharmacies.

However, is the problem really the ethics of the medical profession? Are Canadian doctors putting the health of their American patients at risk by giving them a second medical review? IsnÂ’t this a way to say that American doctors are unprofessional and negligent so as to put their patients at risk by giving them wrong prescriptions? If the minister believes this, why does the Canadian government send hundreds of Canadian patients to get treated in the United States?

And why is the pressure and mistrust of the medical profession coming only from the minister and not the medical associations of Canada? WouldnÂ’t these associations have the expertise to accurately assess the safety of the industry? Minister Dosanjh's portrayal of the process of a Canadian physician double checking the American prescription, as "unprofessional" and "unethical" demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of the benefit that the Canadian physician brings to the US patient. Their review of an existing U. S. prescription serves as a "double check" of the patient's medical profile and possible drug interactions as in confirmation with Canadian health standards. When a problem is discovered the two physicians often consult each other and often provide other alternatives to the patient.

The president of CIPA (Canadian International Pharmacy Association) Andy Troszok states: "The government and the colleges are condemning a process that actually saves lives, just to avoid liability exposure. It seems they have their priorities mixed up".

Moreover, after a Health Canada inspection of 11 Canadian mail order pharmacies conducted on November 16, 2004 (“Obligations of Pharmacists under the Food and Drugs Act and Food and Drug Regulations”), the issue of reviewing U. S prescriptions was never a problem. The only reference to that was a ban on “electronic or rubber-stamp signatures”, as the doctor’s signature has to be in hand.

Why such a dramatic change on behalf of Canadian government, who just a month ago, was telling the Canadian public not to worry about the internet pharmacy industry? Why shut down a one billion dollar growing industry that brought over 5,000 jobs on the market?

This sudden change of heart comes at a particularly beneficial time for US-Canada relations. The Minister’s statement appeared immediately following President Bush’s visit to Ottawa, where the internet pharmacy issue was discussed. Coincidently the “mad cow disease” question has been finally resolved in the benefit of Canadian agriculture as the US has finally opened its borders to Canadian beef. It seems that the Canadians traded the internet pharmacy industry for its beef industry. Moreover, Health Minister Mr. Dosanjh has stated himself that he has received a visit from a large pharmaceutical company and that “They have expressed their displeasure over the cross-border trade”. The minister declined to elaborate further on this meeting.

The Canadian government has decided to crack down on the most vulnerable sector of the internet pharmacy industry – Canadian doctors. However this issue is the least relevant one. We all know what is at stake here, and it is not the health of American citizens. The real concern is the billions of dollars pharmaceutical companies such as Merck and Pfizer are losing to small entrepreneurial Canadian pharmacies. And they are putting all of their efforts into lobbying Bush administration to end the importation of drugs from Canada. At the moment there are three pharmaceutical lobbyists to every Congressman in Washington.

However President Bush is no fool. This issue is politically dangerous for him to make a final decision on it. If Bush administration shuts down the re-importation of Canadian drugs, he will lose the support of the senior population. But the President is also receiving heat from the pharmaceutical pharmacies and he can not install price regulations on the drugs to make them more affordable. So instead he is passing the problem onto the Canadian government who has far less at stake and who in exchange of shutting down the mail order industry, get back the exports on beef and lumber.

According to Elena Ivantsova, Business Development Manager at AffordableDrugs. com - one of the leading Canadian mail order pharmacies – “Canada has always been a humanitarian country, who is ready to help others. Canada is the easiest solution for many who cannot afford the high cost of drugs in the United States right now. This is our chance to help American seniors and improve our relations with the US, by making it more convenient for Americans to shop in Canada. Instead, the Canadian government is fighting for rich multinational pharmaceutical companies to make more money. We strongly urge Mr. Dosanjh not to ban our industry but instead apply better practices. Needless to say, our company has already developed other alternatives for our patients to get cheaper prescriptions drugs. We have developed expertise and efficacy in helping Americans get their meds at lower prices and with a service better than in their local pharmacies and we are going to use it. Trust me, we are here to stay.”

Our government is threatening doctors today; tomorrow it might be patients themselves who will be threatened. Hopefully, Americans will continue fighting for their right to affordable health care.

New Designs for Health Probiotic Toothpaste -- A Breakthrough in Oral Health

New Designs for Health Probiotic Toothpaste -- A Breakthrough in Oral Health

Designs for Health, Inc., a leading national provider of nutritional products and services exclusive to health care professionals, announced today the nationwide launch of its breakthrough probiotic toothpaste.

Suffield, CT (PRWEB) April 20, 2010

Designs for Health, Inc. (http://www. designsforhealth. com), a leading national provider of nutritional products and services exclusive to health care professionals, announced today the nationwide launch of its breakthrough probiotic toothpaste. Expected to revolutionize at-home oral health care, Designs for Health's PerioBiotic™ (http://designsforhealth. com/promotions/periobiotic/) is an all-natural, fluoride-free oral hygiene supplement containing Dental-Lac™, a patent pending functional lactobacillus dental hygiene probiotic not found in any other toothpaste. Plus, it offers additional, proven plaque and cavity-fighting ingredients.

PerioBiotic™ (http://designsforhealth. com/promotions/periobiotic/) is available in two great-tasting, refreshing flavors – Fennel and Spearmint, and is not harmful if swallowed since it does not contain fluoride. This product is ideal for both adults and children; while parents want their children to avoid developing cavities, adults want to avoid gingivitis and periodontal disease. And more good news for kids—a new watermelon flavor is coming soon!

What Makes PerioBiotic™ Unique?

Known as an industry innovator and respected for its “Science First” approach, Designs for Health has succeeded in developing the first mild, non-irritating probiotic oral hygiene supplement offering superior quality and efficacy due to its exclusive ingredients:

Dental-Lac™ is a revolutionary dental hygiene probiotic that harnesses the power of a unique strain of beneficial bacteria called Lactobacillus paracasei (http://www. ncbi. nlm. nih. gov/pubmed/11168719?itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez. Pubmed. Pubmed_ResultsPanel. Pubmed_RVDocSum&ordinalpos=1), which has clinically demonstrated its ability to kill off harmful strains of oral bacteria including streptococcus mutans, a significant contributor to dental caries, tooth decay and periodontal disease. The benefits of Dental-Lac™ are significant, as beneficial flora in the mouth is critical to maintaining an environment that promotes optimal oral and dental health. By eliminating harmful bacteria, this exclusive ingredient offers a novel way to address the root cause of tooth decay and gum disease.

Active Cavity-Fighters
Xylitol (http://www. ncbi. nlm. nih. gov/pubmed/1066333?itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez. Pubmed. Pubmed_ResultsPanel. Pubmed_RVDocSum&ordinalpos=6), is a naturally-occurring compound found in fruits and vegetables that fights plaque build-up and neutralizes plaque acids. Xylitol has been proven in clinical studies to inhibit the development of dental caries by reducing the bad bacteria known to cause them. Specifically it reduces the level of streptococcus mutans in plaque and saliva, which in turn reduces tooth decay and cavities. It has been suggested that the degree of reduction is dependent on both the amount and the frequency of xylitol consumption. In other words, the more the teeth are exposed to xylitol, the better it works. Calcium Glycerophosphate (http://www. ncbi. nlm. nih. gov/pubmed/15509082?itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez. Pubmed. Pubmed_ResultsPanel. Pubmed_RVDocSum&ordinalpos=2) is a mineral compound that has been scientifically shown to fight cavities by elevating plaque calcium and phosphate levels. This raises plaque pH which counteracts the acidity caused by bad bacteria that leads to cavities.

What’s NOT in PerioBiotic™ Matters Too!
No abrasives, no food dye, no preservatives.

Adding to its comprehensive benefits, Designs for Health's PerioBiotic ™ is in a class of its own by virtue of the ingredients it does not contain – substances that are found in most toothpastes:

No Fluoride – It has been drilled into our heads that fluoride is the only way to prevent cavities. Truth be told, not only is there evidence questioning fluoride’s cavity-fighting power, but worse, it may be harmful to the human body. If we ingest too much, it can cause rust stains on the teeth and brittle bones. Fluoride consumption also has been associated with hypothyroidism. No Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) – This chemical compound is believed to contribute to the development of canker sores, due to its denaturing effect on the delicate tissues in the mouth. Use of SLS-free toothpaste is proven to reduce the incidence of recurrent canker sores. No Saccharin – An artificial sweetener, saccharin can cause allergic reactions in individuals who cannot tolerate sulfa drugs, ranging from headaches, breathing difficulties, skin eruptions, and diarrhea. Concern over saccharin as a potential animal carcinogen culminated in 1977 with research showing an increased incidence of bladder cancer in rats fed large doses. Today, U. S. law requires that products containing saccharin carry health warning labels.

Just Say No To Charcoal! New Eco-Friendly Alternative Grills Faster, Burns Cleaner And Greener

Just Say No To Charcoal! New Eco-Friendly Alternative Grills Faster, Burns Cleaner And Greener

The FlameDisk makes grilling quick, easy and safe for everyone--including Mother Earth

Madison, Wisconsin (PRWEB) March 24, 2009

Thousands of grilling enthusiasts now have more free time following the invention of the FlameDisk, a revolutionary alternative to charcoal. This convenient grilling option, which employs solid ethanol as its fuel source, lights instantaneously with the touch of a match and is ready to cook on in less than one minute, eliminating the time needed to arrange and light coals. From ignition to cooking, the FlameDisk saves roughly a half hour of wait time while giving eco-conscious cooks a green grilling alternative.

Once lit, the disk will continue to burn for at least 40 minutes--ample time to cook any burger, hot dog, porterhouse or chicken breast. While the FlameDisk heat output is similar to charcoal, it creates no ash or soot, meaning there's no messy cleanup. After the solid ethanol fuel burns out, the FlameDisk cools to the touch in minutes --much faster than charcoal, which can take hours to cool before the ash can be safely disposed. This ability to cool off rapidly gives FlameDisk grillers the added security of knowing they are cooking safely, as no lingering coals means there is less chance to start an unwanted fire. Plus the FlameDisk does not require lighter fluid, so there is less chance for dangerous chemical leaks during transport or storage.

It's easy to grill green with the FlameDisk, which employs a completely renewable biofuel and is packaged in recyclable materials. The FlameDisk's ethanol fuel burns extremely cleanly and produces 99% less carbon monoxide than charcoal. Not only is the FlameDisk an eco-friendly charcoal alternative, it is an attractive grilling option for those who are concerned about the health effects of grilling. For those who love the taste of charcoal, the FlameDisk's unique "Smoker Plate" gives grillers all the flavor to which they are accustomed; blind taste tests prove there is no difference versus charcoal.

Be it spring, summer, autumn or winter, the FlameDisk is perfect for casual grillers and seasoned experts alike. Novices will enjoy the ease of use while pros will enjoy the mess-free grilling experience. Outdoor enthusiasts can now take grilling to a whole new level by grilling anywhere and everywhere, and propane grillers can keep a few FlameDisks on hand as "spares" should the gas run out in the middle of the barbecue. The FlameDisk is also perfect for tailgaters who want to focus on cheering on their favorite team instead of worrying about cleanup.

Available for about $4.99 at select supermarkets and hardware stores across the country, the uGO FlameDisk is also available for purchase online. To find the nearest FlameDisk retailer, please visit http://www. ugogrill. com/wheretobuy. html (http://www. ugogrill. com/wheretobuy. html).

Integrify Offers Discount of iApprove OnDemand for Sales Request Management

Integrify Offers Discount of iApprove OnDemand for Sales Request Management

Web-based business process management increases sales productivity for even less.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) December 1, 2005

Integrify, a premier enterprise software provider of next-generation request and approval management solutions, is offering a promotional discount of its iApprove OnDemand solution for automating sales and marketing requests and approvals, from now through December 20th. iApprove OnDemand, a web-based business process management tool that significantly reduces set-up time and costs, will be available for $495 per month for 25 users, down from the usual $795 per month fee.

“iApprove increases sales productivity because the sales team can get quotes and close deals in a faster, more timely manner,” said David Willsey, CEO of Integrify. “With the OnDemand solution, our customers get their sales teams automated almost immediately because it’s an on-line solution that requires very little set-up time.”

IApprove provides form creation, routing definition and tracking tools to those responsible for processing requests, minimizing data entry and simplifying requests for approval and fulfillment. For sales and marketing departments, it can be used for new quote approvals, sales support requests, contract reviews, proposal approvals, customer activation, customized product requests, product discount authorization, marketing campaign approval, and program change requests. The solution eliminates problems typically related to labor-intensive processes such as manual paper handling and email requests, and can reduce costs per transaction 60 to 90 percent as opposed to paper-based processes.

HealthStream, Inc., based in Nashville, Tenn., provides Internet-based solutions and services to meet the training and education needs of the healthcare industry. As the company grew at a rapid pace, it was challenged by an increasing need to track the progress of a number of different processes, including first and foremost its pricing request process. Responding to pricing requests in an efficient and timely manner was critical to meeting customers’ needs and to growing HealthStream’s customer base. Formerly, salespeople needed at least two weeks to provide a cost proposal to a potential customer, but since using iApprove OnDemand, that timeframe has been cut to three days.

“We don’t have whole groups of people dedicated to overseeing process management,” said Kevin O’Hara, vice president of HealthStream Direct. “We wanted to start up easily to see if it would work for our employees. We chose iApprove OnDemand because of its flexibility; unlike similar solutions out there, we weren’t confined to pre-built processes designed-in that would be incompatible with our needs.”

The OnDemand solution is a monthly service that offers the full functionality of the software via the Internet without requiring on-site installation and maintenance of the software. Customers can see the benefits to their business almost immediately due to the solution’s easy set-up including unlimited processes that the customer defines, unlike other options on the market that only provide limited, pre-built processes that may not match a company’s needs.

Through the year-end promotion, iApprove OnDemand is available to sales and marketing departments for $495 per 25 users with additional users discounted to $10 per month (down from the normal $20 per additional user). A second option is $495 per month for five concurrent user capacity and $50 per additional concurrent users.

The promotion requires a 12-month service contract, and for under $6,000, companies can realize these benefits of iApprove over the next year:

No set-up costs and minimal maintenance;  Up-time guarantee;  Access from anywhere;  Reduction of process time and costs;  Easy definition of specific request and approval processes;  Centralization of all forms;  Easily obtain process status updates and audit trails; and  A central interface for users to access status at every point in the process request.

The OnDemand service allows for an unlimited number of request and approval processes, a secure hosting environment, online management of forms you can access from anywhere, real-time request tracking and approval, password-protected access to templates and complimentary on-line training.

For more information about iApprove 3.5 and Integrify’s OnDemand solution, please call 888-536-9629.

Seniors Have a New Resource to Research Assisted Living Housing Options

Seniors Have a New Resource to Research Assisted Living Housing Options

Assisted Living Facilities launches with a nationwide directory of over 40,000 state-licensed senior living communities. A senior care blog and Q&A area also offer helpful advice and information for elders and their families considering assisted living.

St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) June 16, 2010

AssistedLivingFacilities. org is a new website that has launched to help senior citizens become more educated consumers as they make the decision to migrate from an independent living situation into assisted living housing. The transition into senior housing is one that brings along with it many questions and Assisted Living Facilities (http://www. assistedlivingfacilities. org/) is a resource geared towards informing potential assisted living residents to alleviate concerns.

Over the last couple of decades, assisted living has emerged as an ideal private pay senior housing option for the elderly no longer able to live independently but also not in need of 24-hour medical care, such as that offered in a nursing home. However, since assisted living is regulated at the state level, and not nationally, differing licensing requirements and different terminology exists between states throughout the country. This is where Assisted Living Facilities tries to educate and inform.

Assisted Living Facilities strives to offer consumers as much unbiased information as possible relating to assisted living as it is defined by a specific state. The assisted living directory (http://www. assistedlivingfacilities. org/directory/) contains all the licensed facilities for each state, over 40,000 nationwide. In addition, the specific state requirements are explained in detail while the specific state contacts are also offered for further research. Using this information, a senior or family member can research all licensed assisted living communities in their area, and use the available information to help make a more informed decision in their senior care selection process.

The website also operates a comprehensive senior care blog (http://www. assistedlivingfacilities. org/blog/) that offers helpful information and advice from authors experienced in the senior care industry. Each blog author brings a different viewpoint from within the senior care industry, whether it's a former nursing aide with eldercare experience, a caretaker whom has experience with the assisted living selection process, or an industry author and researcher. Blog topics range from assisted living industry news, senior care company spotlights, to specific posts such as one offering advice to seniors for dealing with loneliness while living in assisted care homes.

On Assisted Living Facilities, seniors can learn from one another. An eldercare question and answer section allows consumers to research previously posted questions and answers to those questions, as well as asking their own. In many cases, seniors considering the move into assisted living share the same concerns and by being able to review and research what others in the same situation have asked, they can gain clarity.

Over time, Assisted Living Facilities will be adding assisted living facility reviews, more expanded and in-depth senior care company profiles, more analysis of various senior healthcare statistics and cost information and other helpful eldercare information. The website URL is www. assistedlivingfacilities. org (http://www. assistedlivingfacilities. org/).

About AssistedLivingFacilities. org

We also offer various senior housing information resources including an eldercare blog, a question and answer area and various research articles. Tongkat Ali: the New Buzz for Libido Enhancement Products

Tongkat Ali: the New Buzz for Libido Enhancement Products

Tongkat Ali improves libido by raising testosterone levels, or, more specifically, the levels of free testosterone. LJ100 utilizes a proprietary extraction process to yield over 20% Bioactive Glygopeptide compounds, proven to increase Free testosterone level and decrease SHBG level in human clinical trials. This becomes increasingly important with men past age 45, as SHBG's binding capacity increases almost dramatically-by 40% on average-and coincides with the age-associated loss of libido.

(PRWEB) August 4, 2004

Tongkat Ali (Eurycoma longifolia jack) is a small tree found in the jungles throughout Malaysia and Southeast Asia. It is commonly known as Tongkat Ali in Malaysia and Singapore, Piak or Tung Saw in Thailand, and Pasak Bumi in Indonesia. The Tongkat Ali tree can grow up to about 12 meters in height. Natives consider every part of the tongkat ali tree as medicine. Tongkat Ali is used as a tonic, to treat malaria, and as an aphrodisiac.

How does it work? Tongkat Ali has over 13 medicinal uses. Unlike herbs which simply increase blood flow, Tongkat Ali stimulates the gonadotrophins responsible for physical and mental arousal.

When testosterone levels are elevated, hormones (androgens and estrogens) will signal your body to decrease or stop its own testosterone production, this is called "negative feedback". Tongkat Ali counteracts the negative feedback to the hypothalamus and pituitary gland, which allows in the body to continue to produce testosterone at elevated levels. This in turn allows for improved physical and mental reaction to arousal. S~xual Benefits include, increased mental and physical sensitivity to s~xual stimulus, increased ability to maintain and control erection, increased ability and speed to recover after 0rgasm, no excessively long er@ct#ons as with Yohimbe and Viagra and no side effects.

Studies show that Longjack improves the health and wellness of sp@rm. There is an elevation in overall sperm count, size of sperm, and motility(speed). Initial tests in healthy lab mice showed a doubling in litter size. Troubled that this might be the result of splitting, twinning, or multiple ovulation in females, they tested for these extraneous effects. The findings were conclusive that increased fertility was solely the result of sp@rm quantity and quality.

Testosterone levels decline with age. If you ask any elderly men about their endurance and sexual desire-the answer would be non affirmative. What is the cause? Aging? The answer "YES"! But how is aging responsible for this problem? The answer lies in the testosterone levels which decline with age. Testosterone levels hit their lifetime peak at the age of 25 and goes on to decline every year thereafter. Some clinical studies have backed this up that generally on average testosterone level drop as much as 2 % on yearly basis after the age of 30. The age of decline is very much a factor of lifestyle. Individual who exercise have a very much lower rate of decline. Exercise to a certain extend stimulates the hormones secretion. A more prominent decline was observed in individual who are heavy smokers and alcoholics.

Tongkat Ali also has major anti-Oxidant properties. Several studies conducted by researchers in Malaysia discovered that Longjack contains Superoxide dimutase, a kind of anti-oxidant enzyme that has the ability to inhibit the chain reaction of free radicals harmful to the body.

Tongkat Ali (Eurycomia longifolia jack) is now getting a lot of attention and has been used for centuries in Malaysia and Indonesia to increase male and female libido. Its efficacy has been demonstrated in a number of animal studies and its mechanisms of action in humans are currently the subject of a combined research project between the Malaysian government and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (the world-renowned MIT).
