A vertical tasting involves wines from different vintages but all the wines will come from the same winery. If the winery produces more than one type of wine, you would select a single wine from that winery and taste multiple vintages of that wine, which is what Bruce Cohn has done. “We are very excited to have seven of the Cohn cabernet sauvignons here for this memorable radio broadcast” said Kincaid. “Wines & Vines has come a long way in our four and a half years but this is an absolute first. Lutèce is the perfect venue as well. Food pairing and wine tasting is, of course, is French and we are proud to share this occasion with them” said Kincaid.

Lutèce restaurant has a geometric design, black and white décor accented with light woodwork, glass, silver and indirect lighting. From the moment you enter, to the moment you depart, your awareness of the modern architecture and becomes more noticeable as you focus on the lighting, unique floor sculptures, and spectacular wine cooler. Add to this mix the exceptional modern French fusion cuisine and you have a winner.

An unusual location away from the popular “restaurant row” in the Venetian Resort has provided magnetic attractions for those seeking a unique dining experience. Bob Hope Chrysler Classic

Boon to Economy Year Round

(Rancho Mirage, CA.) As the kick-off of one of the ValleyÂ’s most revered tournaments approaches, organizers of the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic have released the official results of a study it commissioned to evaluate the actual economic impact of its 42-year-old tournament.

After years of evaluating its contributions to local charities – more than $34 million to date -- the Classic hired Sports Management Research Institute of Weston, Florida to find out how broad its economic reach actually is.

What they found is that the Classic has literally brought hundreds of millions into the area. Based first on an economic impact survey of 626 spectators in 1999 and a subsequent marketing study in 2000, researchers determined that the one-week event generated $32 million in accommodations, meals, merchandise, entertainment, transportation and other purchases. Organizers project spending at this weekÂ’s tournament to reach $35 million, as spectator numbers swell to more than 120,000.

More significant is the finding that the impact resonates throughout the year as 55 percent of the attendees visited the region specifically for the Classic. In fact, roughly 11 percent of those visitors surveyed in 1999 said they likely would consider moving to the Valley to reside, bringing their average household incomes of between $100,000 and $300,000. The Valley also benefits from the televised broadcast that reaches millions of homes nationwide.

"The true measure of economic impact is not so much the direct financial number generated by the event, but being able to demonstrate the long term benefit of the event," said Kathleen Davis, Ph. D., the lead researcher for Sports Management Research Institute. "Bringing people to the event is one thing, but the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic has truly created the perfect marriage by producing an excellent and memorable event in an alluring setting."

Hope economic boon continued: page 2

Davis hypothesized that some of the organizations that started events here in recent years likely were inspired having witnessed the HopeÂ’s success on television or through their attendance.

Classic Director Bob Brennan agreed, calling the tournament, "A significant driver of economic growth in the Valley. It is the standard bearer for all the other events that have followed."

Based on her research and overall knowledge of similar events, "The tradition of Bob Hope though remains unmatched," Davis said.

Tournament Chairman Bill Powers agreed.

"We quietly pride ourselves on the success of our tournament every year but it is heartwarming to see in real numbers the economic influence we share with the Coachella Valley," Powers said. "We have been and always will remain dedicated to maintaining our high standards so that the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic is always a healthy contributor to the community."

About the Classic:

For each of the last 20 years, the Classic has generated more than $1 million for Eisenhower Medical Center and 40 other local charities. With its total contributions at more than $34 million, the tournament ranks among the most successful charitable events on the professional tour.

The 42nd Annual Bob Hope Chrysler Classic is February 12-18 with a must-see rivalry between former defending champion David Duval and last year's winner Jesper Parnevik. Adding to the talent at this year's tournament are Arnold Palmer, Fred Couples and Justin Leonard. Celebrities Emmitt Smith, Roger Clemens, Rush Limbaugh, Joe Pesci, Junior Seau, and Troy Aikman round out the mix.

The Classic hosts 128 pros, 384 amateurs and this year will be held on the Arnold Palmer Private Course at PGA WEST, the Bermuda Dunes Country Club, Indian Wells Country Club and La Quinta Country Club. This yearÂ’s winner will receive $630,000 with prize money totaling $3,500,000.

Tickets are available now at the Classic office by calling 1-888-M-R-B-Hope or can be purchased on the Web at www. bhcc. com or at the gate. For more Classic information visit the ClassicÂ’s Web site at www. bhcc. com or call (760) 346-8184.

MEDIA FACT SHEET

Bob Hope Chrysler ClassicÂ’s Economic Impact

on the Coachella Valley

FOR: Media Background-FINAL Contact: Jennifer Liebrum

February 10, 2001 (760) 340-9300

 jennifer@shepherdPR. com

Introduction: Long before a tennis garden had been dreamed of, or a six-week horse show became a reality, the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic was creating a road map for ventures to come to the Coachella Valley with their multi-million dollar exhibitions.

The Classic was built for and through charity, remaining the largest, single-event infuser charitable funds into the Coachella Valley to date. Less known, perhaps, is that it also was the first event to have a profound economic impact, on the Valley, setting the standard and acting as a magnet for those to come.

Facts at a glance: At the close of the 1998 tournament, Classic organizers decided they wanted to see exactly how much its tournament contributes to the community in addition to the charitable good works. The highly regarded Sports Management Research Institute of Weston, Florida was commissioned to collect the necessary data, beginning with the 1999 tournament.

What the Institute found was that the one-week event encouraged $32 million in spending for accommodations, meals, merchandise, entertainment, transportation and other purchases.

Of the more than 100,000 spectators in 1999, for example, 55 percent were non-Valley residents who came here just for the event. They spent roughly four days and spent nearly $334 per day to be here. More than a third of the attendees enjoy annual household incomes between $100,000 and $300,000, a level reserved for Super Bowls and the U. S. Tennis Opens.

A subsequent market evaluation in 2000 found that the event is fairly gender-balanced with men slightly outnumbering women 55.5 percent to 44.5 percent. The majority of attendees were 50-79, with the 60-69 group comprising 32.6 percent of the total. Eighty-one percent said they would return to the tournament.

Bob Hope Chrysler Classic Economic Impact Fact Sheet continued: page 2

And, researchers found, the economic impact resonates through the Valley year-around. A total of 60 percent of those surveyed reported an "enhanced impression" of the Valley and 11 percent said they would come back to live here.

A total of 32 states and Canada were represented among the spectators. The top five locales were California, Canada, Washington, Oregon and Michigan, followed by Arizona, Illinois, Utah, Florida, Idaho, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana and Colorado.

Market Served:

Coachella Valley

Future plans: In order to maintain future supporters, the tournament is evaluating a marketing plan aimed at the under-40 demographic.

Aging Population Growth Spotlights Training Needs of Health and Mental Health Professionals

Aging Population Growth Spotlights Training Needs of Health and Mental Health Professionals

Professional Development Resources AgingContinuingEducationOnline, a nationally accredited provider of continuing education (CE) for psychologists, social workers, counselors, marriage and family therapists, speech-language pathologists, and occupational therapists, has announced the expansion of its continuing education curriculum dealing with various aspects of care for aging individuals.

Jacksonville, FL (Vocus) July 1, 2009

Professional Development Resources, AgingContinuingEducationOnline has announced the expansion of its continuing education curriculum offering specialized training to health and mental health professionals who work with aging individuals, their families, and their caregivers. Topics include the psychological and physiological processes that occur with aging, components of end-of-life care, Alzheimer’s and related memory disorders, skilled care for nursing home residents, dynamics of death and dying, cultural sensitivity in providing palliative care, and a course outlining the “Butterflies are Free” program that was developed at Life Care Center in Sarasota, Florida.

According to the National Institute on Aging (NIA), we are aging – not just as individuals or communities but also as a world. In 2006, almost 500 million people worldwide were 65 and older. By 2030, that total is projected to increase to 1 billion – one in every eight of the earth’s inhabitants. Significantly, the most rapid increases in the 65-and-older population are occurring in developing countries, which will see a jump of 140 percent by 2030. For the first time in history, people age 65 and over will outnumber children under age 5. Life expectancy is increasing. Most countries, including developing countries, show a steady increase in longevity over time, which raises the question of how much further life expectancy will increase. The number of oldest old is rising. People age 85 and over are now the fastest growing portion of many national populations.

“We have never been here before,” says Leo Christie, PhD, CEO of Professional Development Resources. “The number of aging individuals is growing exponentially, and the challenges to individuals, families, and caregivers are unprecedented. The task we face as health and mental health professionals is to prepare ourselves to understand the dynamics of end-of-life issues so that we can assist those who are dealing with them every day. Not only aging people themselves, but their families and professional caregivers are going to need all the help we can offer them.”

One of the most difficult situations families can face is having a member with Alzheimer’s disease (AD). AD is the most common cause of dementia among older people. Dementia is the loss of cognitive functioning – thinking, remembering, and reasoning – to such an extent that it interferes with a person’s daily life and activities. According to recent estimates, as many as 2.4 to 4.5 million Americans are living with AD. It is a progressive disorder, and may be manifested in mild, moderate, or severe symptoms. Caring for a person with AD can have high physical, emotional, and financial costs. The demands of day-to-day care, changing family roles, and difficult decisions about placement in a care facility can be hard to handle.

Professional Development Resources performs an ongoing needs assessment process by inviting course participants to identify topics they would like to see. Mental health professionals are becoming aware of the need for training in the areas of end-of-life and AD care in order to improve their clinical proficiencies. A social worker wrote, “I am seeing more and more adults who have aging parents, and they are struggling with the role reversal involved in taking care of those who once took care of them. Very few people are prepared to deal with end-of-life issues. I know that I need more training in order to be helpful to them.” A psychologist stated, “Alzheimer’s has to be one of the hardest challenges families will ever face. I have been able to use some of what I have learned to help them make the tough decisions.”

The courses – many of which are available instantly online and can be completed any time and anywhere – include:
End of Life Care: Attitudes, Choices and Diversity, (2004) 41 pages, Alzheimer’s Disease & Related Disorders (ADRD), (2006) 54 pages, The Nursing Home Resident: A Holistic Approach, (2007) 13 pages,
Aging: The Unraveling Self, (2004) 36 pages, and
Death and Dying: The “Butterflies are Free” Program, (2006) 22 pages.

IT must now manage and protect anywhere access to critical network resources from the most dangerous places on the Internet: public kiosks, employee-owned PCs, and unmanaged PDAs – places and devices IT cannot possibly control. Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) September 23, 2004 -

– Michael Suby, the Co-Program Manager for Stratecast Partners, will address eSecure Live, an on-line platform that provides individuals a unique opportunity to interact with leading experts in the area of internet security. On September 23, at 3:00 pm, the webcast, “Stratecast’s Michael Suby on Enforcing End Point Security” will occur online.

You trust your secure access users. Can you trust their environment? Today’s end users expect access to the corporate network from more places. Increasingly, they're on wireless and broadband networks and using a wide range of devices. The productivity benefit of providing users with anywhere remote access is clear. The risk is also clear: IT must now manage and protect anywhere access to critical network resources from the most dangerous places on the Internet: public kiosks, employee-owned PCs, and unmanaged PDAs – places and devices IT cannot possibly control.

Attendees of this event will benefit by having some of these issues of concern tackled by leading IT security experts. This webcast session will offer answers regarding critical questions, such as, what the end point threats are that IT must protect against.

"IT directors considering SSL VPNs need to look beyond connectivity. While SSL VPNs enable access to the enterprise from essentially anywhere, security risks from unmanaged locations such as home and borrowed PCs and Internet kiosks are present. To adequately combat this exposure, the design of the SSL VPN to explicitly address these risks is crucial" said Suby.

Launch of Just Say ‘Know’ to Prescription Drugs Campaign Quickly Grabs Attention, Key Endorsements and Support From Medical Professionals

Launch of Just Say ‘Know’ to Prescription Drugs Campaign Quickly Grabs Attention, Key Endorsements and Support From Medical Professionals

Dr. Peter Breggin, Dr. Paul Rosch and Dr. Barry L. Duncan are among the growing list of first movers to join national “prescription drug” awareness campaign aimed at getting one million people to take a second look at the medications they are taking.

New York, NY (PRWEB) September 26, 2006

The Just Say “Know” to Prescription Drugs Campaign, aimed at getting one million people to stop and reevaluate the medications they have been prescribed, secured early support from a number of influential medical professionals yesterday. Dr. Peter Breggin, founder of the Center for the Study of Psychiatry and Psychology; Paul Rosch M. D., President of the American Institute of Stress; and Barry L. Duncan Psy. D. Co-Director of the Institute for the Study of Therapeutic Change (ISTC), are a few of the first responders within the medical community who quickly endorsed the campaign since its launch yesterday. All three pledged to throw their full support behind the effort.

These early endorsements represent the first public reaction to the “Just Say Know” drive to get one million people, to download a form that allows them to thoughtfully evaluate the drugs they are taking. The form collects specific information from their prescribing physician, pharmacist or healthcare provider and requests the provider’s signature attesting that they have fully informed their patient of the risks and benefits of the prescribed medication, as well as non-drug alternatives.

“We’ve only taken the first few steps, but with few exceptions, the initial response has been immediate and overwhelmingly positive,” said Dr. Greg Tefft. co-founder of the campaign. ”Medical professionals are eagerly getting involved and rapidly drawing their social and professional networks into this campaign.”

“Sure… sign me up,” said Barry L. Duncan Psy. D. Co-Director of the Institute for the Study of Therapeutic Change (ISTC) “Most people are uninformed about the potential side effects of their prescribed medication and are not aware of less-risky alternatives. This is an excellent idea.”

One explanation for the positive response is that the Just Say Know to Prescription Drugs Campaign was intentionally designed to be a positive initiative. “The fundamental thrust is not anti-anything,” said Dominick Riccio, Chairman of the Just Say “Know “Campaign. “Rather than being "against" any industry, organization, policy, practice, individual or group of individuals, the campaign is "for" people doing what they are capable of doing for themselves. So far the approach seems to be resonating loudly,” said Riccio.

The advocates are declaring October "Just Say Know to Prescription Drugs Month" and have scheduled a conference in Washington, D. C. on October 7th to officially launch the campaign.

The conference will report that virtually all people are inadequately informed to assess the genuine risks of the drugs--or combination of drugs--they are taking and will suggest "informed consent as the solution."

Organizations and individuals who want to participate may go to any of the following websites, look for the Just Say Know to Prescription Drugs logo, and download the sheet titled "Take This Form and Sign It." Instructions will be provided on each form.

Qutenza Now Available for Treatment of Post-Shingles Pain

Qutenza Now Available for Treatment of Post-Shingles Pain

Qutenza (capsaicin) 8% patch – the first and only product containing prescription-strength capsaicin – is now available for pain associated with postherpetic neuralgia (PHN), the nerve pain that can occur after shingles. Clinical studies have shown that a single one-hour Qutenza application can provide three months relief from pain associated with PHN.

San Mateo, Calif. (PRWEB) April 6, 2010

NeurogesX, Inc. (Nasdaq: NGSX) announced today that Qutenza® (capsaicin) 8% patch, the first and only product containing prescription-strength capsaicin, is now available. Clinical studies have shown that a single one-hour Qutenza application can provide three months relief from pain associated with postherpetic neuralgia (PHN), the nerve pain that can occur after shingles.

In November 2009, Qutenza was approved by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the management of neuropathic pain associated with PHN. Qutenza, the first product from NeurogesX, is now available through selected specialty distributors and a specialty pharmacy—a complete list of these distributors is available at http://www. qutenza. com (http://www. qutenza. com).

Qutenza is the first prescription-strength topical treatment for PHN to be approved by the FDA in more than 10 years. Qutenza harnesses the power of capsaicin in a dermal delivery system that targets the nerves in the skin. It is locally-acting and non-narcotic, and unlikely to cause drowsiness or interact with other drugs. Qutenza can be used alone or with other pain medications.

Each year, about one million Americans develop shingles, a painful viral infection caused by a reactivation of the same virus that causes chickenpox. It is estimated that up to one in five people with shingles will experience prolonged pain after shingles, known as PHN. The pain can persist long after the shingles rash clears up and can disrupt sleep, mood, work and the activities of daily living.

“PHN can be an excruciatingly painful condition that can greatly affect many aspects of a person’s daily living,” said Lynn Webster, M. D., medical director, Lifetree Clinical Research, Salt Lake City, Utah. “Despite the current availability of a variety of pain medications, undesirable side effects, such as drowsiness and interactions with other drugs, often limit their use. Because of these limitations, there is still a need for new treatment options for PHN, and, more importantly, many patients are still suffering. Qutenza may provide a unique treatment option for patients. It is targeted directly to the site of the pain and may be used alone or in combination with existing therapies.”

“I have suffered from post-shingles pain for more than four years,” said Brad Smith, a 68-year-old husband, father of four, and PHN patient who participated in the Qutenza clinical trials. “I tolerated tremendous pain every day. Qutenza gave me relief, and I was grateful for the treatment.”

The active ingredient in Qutenza is a synthetic form of capsaicin, a naturally occurring compound found in chili peppers that gives them their heat sensation. Qutenza is applied directly to the painful site by a physician or health care professional under the close supervision of a physician.

“We are delighted to make Qutenza available for the many patients suffering from PHN and for the physicians looking for new ways to manage post-shingles pain,” said Anthony DiTonno, president and chief executive officer, NeurogesX. “At NeurogesX, we have been committed to developing novel pain management therapies based on the power of prescription-strength capsaicin. Qutenza, which can provide patients with three months of pain relief, bears witness to the efficacy of capsaicin and the culmination of 10 years of work to bring this product to market for the benefit of PHN patients.”

Up to four Qutenza patches may be used and patches may be cut to conform to the size and shape of the painful area. Treatment with Qutenza may be repeated every three or more months as warranted by the return of pain, but not more frequently than every three months.

In clinical trials, the most common side effects were application-site redness, pain, itching, and papules (small bumps). The majority of these reactions were local, transient and self limited. Among patients treated with Qutenza, 1 percent discontinued prematurely due to an adverse event. Serious adverse reactions included application-site pain and increased blood pressure. Increases in blood pressure occurred during or shortly after exposure to Qutenza and were associated with treatment-related increases in pain. The changes were on average less than 10 mm Hg, although some patients had greater increases, and these changes lasted for approximately two hours after patch removal.

NeurogesX is encouraging in-person, educational in-service training for health care professionals interested in prescribing and administering Qutenza for patients with PHN. Training will be provided by clinical educators who offer in-service demonstrations and answer any questions the physician or health care professional may have. Educational training for health care professionals is available online and on DVD through http://www. qutenza. com (http://www. qutenza. com) or 888-YOU-LRNQ (5767).

About Postherpetic Neuralgia (PHN)
Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is nerve pain that occurs following an attack of shingles. Shingles can damage nerves, and the pain from damaged nerves may feel like a sharp, burning, tingling, shooting sensation or numbness. The pain from PHN can persist long after the shingles rash clears up and can disrupt sleep, mood, work and activities of daily living. The risk of developing PHN increases with age (especially in people over 60) and for patients who experienced severe pain or severe rash during the acute shingles episode.

About Qutenza
Qutenza (capsaicin) 8% patch is a localized, dermal delivery system that contains a prescription strength of capsaicin approved in the United States for the management of PHN. Qutenza is designed to reduce the pain associated with PHN after a single one-hour administration. The capsaicin in Qutenza is a synthetic equivalent of a naturally occurring compound found in chili peppers.

About NeurogesX, Inc.
NeurogesX, Inc. (Nasdaq: NGSX) is a San Francisco Bay Area-based biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing novel pain management therapies. NeurogesX was founded on the concept that use of prescription-strength capsaicin could help manage the pain associated with neuropathic pain conditions. Since its inception, NeurogesX has leveraged its passion to help people with pain to efficiently develop this concept and is now poised to bring its lead product to patients and physicians. In addition, we continue to apply our knowledge and expertise in the development of other novel treatments for pain.

The Company's lead product, Qutenza® (capsaicin) 8% patch, is a localized dermal delivery system containing a prescription strength of capsaicin that is currently approved in the United States and the European Union. Qutenza is now available in the United States for patients with postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). In Europe, Qutenza will be marketed by Astellas Pharma Europe Ltd. (Astellas), the European subsidiary of Tokyo-based Astellas Pharma Inc.

The Company's most advanced product candidate, NGX-1998, is a topically applied liquid formulation containing a high concentration of capsaicin designed to treat pain associated with neuropathic pain conditions such as PHN. NGX-1998 has completed three Phase 1 studies.

The Company's early-stage product pipeline includes pre-clinical compounds which are prodrugs of acetaminophen and various opioids. The Company has evaluated these compounds in vitro and in vivo.
Safe Harbor Statement

This press release contains forward-looking statements for purposes of the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995 (the "Act"). NeurogesX disclaims any intent or obligation to update these forward-looking statements, and claims the protection of the Safe Harbor for forward-looking statements contained in the Act. Examples of such statements include but are not limited to: statements about the safety and efficacy of Qutenza® and its benefits and potential duration of effect; the size of potential markets that Qutenza may address; the timing of availability of Qutenza in distributors and pharmacies; and planned training programs and materials regarding the prescription and administration of Qutenza. Such statements are based on management's current expectations, but actual results may differ materially due to various risks and uncertainties, including, but not limited to: difficulties or delays in the commercialization of Qutenza, including with respect to manufacture and supply of Qutenza; Qutenza and NeurogesX's other product candidates may have unexpected adverse side effects; physician or patient reluctance to use Qutenza; and other difficulties or delays in the launch of Qutenza in the United States. For further information regarding these and other risks related to NeurogesX's business, investors should consult NeurogesX's filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Calgary, Alberta (PRWEB) April 2, 2004 -

– Homelife Enviro Store Inc. was welcomed into the Sharp Electronics of Canada, PlasmaCluster dealer Network after having met the qualifications to be part of the PCI dealer network. “We look forward to growing our relationship with Homelife Enviro Store in the coming months and years”, says John Pasalis, National Sales Manager, Sharp Electronics of Canada Ltd., PCI Division

Homelife Enviro Store carries the three main Sharp Air Purifier Models FP-N25CX, FP-N40CX and FP-N60CX. The air purification units are based on revolutionary Plasmacluster Ion technology. This technology inactivates most airborne particles, including viruses, bacteria, mold spores, germs, fungi and other odor causing substances, while utilizing a filtration system to keep air clean.

Sharp has a longstanding history of developing innovative technology and these air purifiers are based on its exclusive Plasmacluster Ion technology.

Sharp’s Plasmacluster Ion technology creates a positive and negative Ion shower (PCI), which recreates the natural chemical process that purifies the air in the Earth’s atmosphere. The positive and negative Ions react to form Hydroxyl, which robs the particles of the hydrogen necessary for them to survive. Once the hydroxyl eliminates hydrogen from the virus, it is rendered inactive and the PCI cleansing process is complete. This system is proven to be effective against bacteria, viruses – influenza, cigarette smoke, mold germs, mold spores, pollen, dust, pet odors, exhaust fumes, formaldehyde, poliovirus, coxsackie, staph, E. Coli, colon basillus, cladosporium, and aspergitlus.

In addition, this dual-function system combines a dust filter, washable active carbon filter, apatite anti-bacterial filter and a HEPA filter to remove up to 99.97% of airborne particles.

HomeLife Enviro Store, Inc. is a new company that is committed to bringing innovation to home life. “We were very excited to qualify and represent the line of Sharp Plasmacluster (PCI) Air Purifier’s to further complement our approach to providing the best in air purification technology for families wanting to positively affect their homelife environment” says President & CEO of Homelife Enviro Store Inc., Gary Cerantola.

Classic British Launches 2006/7 UK Directory

Classic British Launches 2006/7 UK Directory

Classic British Hotels, the hallmark for quality independent hotels in the UK, has launched its 2006/7 Directory.

(PRWEB) July 3, 2006

The new Classic British Hotels hotel directory (http://www. classicbritishhotels. com) features over 50 quality, independent 3, 4 and 5 star member hotels. Classic hotels can be found right across Great Britain, from the Channel Islands to Lochinver in the Highlands of Scotland, with numerous key locations in between including The Cotswolds, The Lake District, Snowdonia, London and Edinburgh. Every hotel is unique to Classic British Hotels and each has its own individual character and style. The new Directory has been compiled following a comprehensive review of over 70 equivalent hotel group and consortia publications. "Too many hotel directories are far too complicated" says Len Louis, Classic British Hotels' Chief Executive.

"Our directory is easy to read, easy to use, factual and - above all - relevant. Our objective is to provide our business and leisure customers with the information they need to make an informed decision - and none of the information they don't need!"

Key features of the 2006/7 Directory include:-

Hotels at a glance section listing all hotel locations, star ratings, food awards, key facilities, meeting room maximum capacities, parking and nearest motorway or A-road.  A list of key features in all bedrooms across the group plus 'Extra Bedroom Features' unique to each individual hotel  Health & Leisure section listing health & leisure clubs and health & beauty spa's, with a summary of facilities and treatments available at each hotel  Golf section listing facilities available at hotels with golf courses on site or nearby  Fine dining section with details of all individual hotel awards including the hotel that has been awarded three Rosettes and a Michelin Star  Corporate Accommodation, Meetings & Events information to help business clients source suitable meeting venues for any number of delegates between 8 and 1800.  A guide to Classic hotels styles – which include Contemporary, Country House, Heritage, Period Elegance and Townhouse – and Classic hotel quality gradings.

The Classic British Hotels (http://www. classicbritishhotels. com) web site features prominently in the directory, but why does a 21st century hotel company need a printed directory at all when over half of all bookings into Classic British member hotels are made on-line? "The fact is that not everyone walks around with a lap top" says Len Louis. "In common with many other hotel groups and consortia, the printed directory plays a major role in driving customers to our web site where they can check the latest availability and room rates."

Peak Oil Council Forming in Western Massachusetts

Peak Oil Council Forming in Western Massachusetts

A council of community leaders called the Pioneer Valley Post Carbon Council is forming to raise awareness of peak oil and its ramifications for Western Massachusetts and to support responses.

(PRWEB) March 4, 2005

A council of community leaders is forming to raise awareness of peak oil and its ramifications for Western Massachusetts and to support responses. Donald Campbell of Donald Campbell Associates (a solar energy company) has initiated the Pioneer Valley Post Carbon Council as a Local Think Tank (or “Outpost”) of Post Carbon Institute. Post Carbon Institute’s network links together local groups that are addressing peak energy issue in their communities.

People throughout the Pioneer Valley have been getting increasingly concerned about the imminent approach of the global peak of oil production. Study groups and events have been sponsored in Amherst, Northampton, Northfield, and Shelburne Falls, and other places. In Northfield the formation of an energy committee was approved by the selectboard.

On Monday, February 28, the Karl Davies Energy Task Force, from Northampton presented the issue of peak oil at a legislative forum at the State House in Boston. Representative Ellen Story of Amherst hosted the forum.

"The Pioneer Valley has the potential to be a model for others in meeting the challenges of the imminent peak of oil production.” Donald Campbell says "it is also essential to the work of keeping our communities healthy and thriving." The Pioneer Valley Post Carbon Council will serve as an educational and coordinating body to support all the effort that so many are already making.”

Basic membership is on the individual level, but businesses, non-profits, and governmental organizations are welcome to have representation. Campbell says “none of us know all we need to know by ourselves. Only our collective knowledge and wisdom based on experience can move us forward.”

Stephen Strong, an international energy expert from Harvard, MA said "the debate over when the last drop of oil will be extracted will never be settled and it needn’t be. It is largely irrelevant. What matters is when the world economy - now completely dependent on cheap oil and gas – will begin to falter due to price escalation and lack of supply. By then, the window of opportunity for a manageable transition to the post-petroleum era may be largely behind us."

As one of its first initiatives, the Council is hosting a showing of the documentary "End of Suburbia" at the Greenfield Community College Downtown Campus in Greenfield, MA on Thursday, March 10, from 9am to noon. The film will be followed by a chance to learn more about the work of the Council and space for community members to share hopes and concerns.

Pioneer Valley Post Carbon Council is a Local Think Tank (or “Outpost”) of Post Carbon Institute that serves as an educational and coordinating body to support efforts to raise awareness of peak energy and respond locally. Basic membership is on the individual level, but businesses, non-profits, and governmental organizations are welcome to have representation.

Post Carbon Institute is a think and action tank that explores in theory and practice what cultures, civilisation, governance & economies might look like without the use of (non-renewable) hydrocarbons as energy and chemical feedstocks. Post Carbon Institute advocates global relocalization as an essential response to peak oil, resource conflicts, climate change and other ecological problems. Their “Outpost” program is designed to start the relocalization process by mobilizing community groups to experiment on how to meet their essential needs within walking distance. http://www. postcarbon. org (http://www. postcarbon. org).

DPR Construction, Inc. Tapped by American Institute of Architects for National Headquarters Project

DPR Construction, Inc. Tapped by American Institute of Architects for National Headquarters Project

DPR Construction, Inc. has been selected by the American Institute of Architects for a major renovation of the AIA's national headquarters in Washington, D. C. The headquarters renovation will provide a 21st century example of a sustainable workplace using a project delivery process designed to reduce waste, maximize efficiency and ensure quality throughout all phases of design and construction.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) May 9, 2008

Following a nationwide review of general contracting companies, DPR Construction, Inc. has been selected by the American Institute of Architects for a major renovation of the AIA's national headquarters in Washington, D. C. DPR Construction will partner with the AIA and Studios Architecture to use a fully integrated project delivery (IPD) process enhanced by building information modeling (BIM) to reduce waste, maximize efficiency and ensure quality throughout all phases of design and construction of the project.

DPR Construction was awarded the renovation contract for the AIA's 180,000-square-foot building, located at 1735 New York Ave. N. W. in Washington, D. C., due to the company's leadership in IPD, BIM and sustainable construction, according to Marnique Heath of Studios Architecture, the firm that has been named the architect of record for the renovation project and part of the contractor selection jury.

The AIA headquarters building was originally designed by The Architect's Collaborative, a firm founded by Walter Gropius, one of the most innovative and influential architects of the 20th century. First occupied in 1973, the building is located a few blocks from the White House.

According to Chris Gorthy, preconstruction manager for DPR Construction on the AIA project, the IPD approach combined with BIM and sustainability on the AIA project will forever change current delivery methods for future design and construction. The headquarters renovation also will provide a 21st century example of a sustainable workplace that other architects and building construction companies, as well as the general public, can emulate. The AIA plans to reduce its fossil fuel usage by 60 percent at the time of completion via the use of passive and active mechanical systems. The project will be a stepping stone for the AIA and will provide the means to achieve the ultimate goal: to be carbon neutral by the year 2030.

The project may use photovoltaic panels, wind turbines or geothermal systems among other strategies to satisfy electrical demand. The project also looks to harvest 100 percent of the rain water falling on the site to reduce demand for potable water and ease the city's overstressed sewer system.

"All of us at DPR Construction are thrilled and honored to have been selected by the AIA for this once-in-a-generation project," Gorthy said. "Sustainable design and construction is clearly one of the most important architectural movements of our time, and we look forward to helping the AIA achieve its vision of the world of the future."

The AIA headquarters renewal project will be overseen by DPR Construction's Falls Church, Va., office. The company's other notable projects in the region include the National Audio-Visual Conservation Center for the Library of Congress in Culpeper, Va., a headquarters consolidation project for U. S. Pharmacopeia in Rockville, Md., a medical office building renovation for Kaiser Permanente in Frederick, Md., a data center renovation for Digital Realty Trust in Ashburn, Va., and a solid-dose manufacturing facility for United Therapeutics in Research Triangle Park in North Carolina.

Construction on the AIA project is tentatively scheduled to start late spring/early summer of 2009, with completion expected by the end of 2011.

Redwood City, Calif.-based DPR Construction, Inc. (www. dprinc. com), founded in 1990, is one of the world's leading general contractors within the "green" movement and was ranked the fifth "greenest" contractor by Engineering News Record in 2007. The company, which specializes in technically challenging and sustainable projects, is also a recognized leader in Integrated Project Delivery, defined by the AIA as an approach that integrates people, systems, business structures and practices into a process that collaboratively harnesses the talents and insights of all participants to optimize project results, increase value to the owner, reduce waste and maximize efficiency through all phases of design, fabrication and construction.

Nearly 30 percent of DPR Construction's professional staff is LEED®-accredited by the U. S. Green Building Council, the highest percentage of any general contractor in the United States. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)-accredited professionals have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles, and the LEED Rating System.

Artist Announces a Unique Concept -- Customized Manifestation Posters

Artist Announces a Unique Concept -- Customized Manifestation Posters

Ad to the Universe posters are a customized visual way for you to focus on, manifest, and accomplish your goals. You send me a list of the things you would like to have in your life and I create a beautiful poster using images from your goal list. The result is an "Ad to the Universe".

Lake Worth, FL (PRWEB) January 1, 2006

Local artist announces a unique concept, manifestation posters designed specifically with you in mind.

LaCroix, a graduate of Palm Beach Community College and Southern Connecticut State University, owns a graphic and web design business that offers art prints on canvas, posters and greetings cards, as well as the more typical design work such as logos and promotional flyers and websites. Her work can be seen or ordered via her website, www. checkoutmysiteonline. com.

One of her pieces, a photograph entitled “Healthy,” appeared for three months in the West Palm Beach airport during the Palm Beach Art in Public Places in 2004’s fall season.

LaCroix said her birthday inspired her manifestation poster.

“I wrote a list of things I wanted to accomplish, thinking about the best way to help me focus on these things,” she explained.

“Naturally, visual expression is the best way for me, so what better way to do this than to create a poster out of my goal list? I made one for myself and really liked it."

“I told a few friends about it and one of them suggested this might be something I could offer to other people as a means to help them focus on and manifest their goals. Each poster is custom created according to what each person would like to have in his or her life. The result is an ‘ad to the universe.’

“My thought behind it is the mind cannot tell the difference between what is imagined and what is actually occurring. So you look at your goals visually and imagine you have these things in your life. In time, you physically make the effort to accomplish them.”

LaCroix added she believes synchronicities also occur to help bring opportunities to achieve these goals.

“The mind is a very powerful thing,” she said, “so, visually, we are ‘imagineering’ our life as we want it.’”

PHILADELPHIA (PRWEB) September 7, 2006

Fox Chase Cancer Center announced today a restructuring of its relationship with 28 area hospitals, a move that will significantly strengthen South Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania's position as a robust hub of clinical cancer research and high-quality, community-based cancer care. Fox Chase Cancer Center Partners (all members of the former Fox Chase Network) and Fox Chase Cancer Center have agreed to expand clinical cancer research collaborations aimed at accelerating the pace of clinical research through increased patient accrual to clinical trials.

The original Fox Chase Network, developed in 1986, was the first known cancer affiliate network in the United States established to enable community hospitals to develop or enhance community-based oncology programs. Today, 28 regional hospitals comprise 17 health systems in the Fox Chase Cancer Center Partners program. All hospitals chosen by Fox Chase as Partners demonstrate outstanding cancer-care standards and have an infrastructure in place to support clinical trials. Hospitals that were part of Fox Chase Network as of Jan. 1, 2006 received the Fox Chase Cancer Center Partners designation (see complete list below).

"We're employing strategic changes to the Fox Chase Cancer Center Partners program to accelerate the translation of research findings to our Partner hospitals and their patients, work toward more seamless clinical care between the hospitals and broaden access to clinical trials in the community," said Paul F. Engstrom, M. D., medical director of the program and senior vice president for extramural research at Fox Chase.

"The initial focus for developing Fox Chase Network was to offer the latest in cancer care close to home for patients who were unable or didn' t want to drive the extra distance to Fox Chase for expert treatment," said Engstrom. "That goal was realized early on, and today, Partner institutions offer more treatment options than many community-based hospitals."

Still, some patients require unique or highly technical surgery, access to advanced diagnostic testing or access to a clinical trial only offered at Fox Chase. The new structure aims to allow a more seamless process between physicians and hospitals as patients pursue more specialized care at Fox Chase and then return to their home institution to continue treatment.

Another enhancement of the new Fox Chase Cancer Center Partners program is the availability of more clinical trials. In the past, the majority of clinical trials offered through Fox Chase Network were phase III drug studies, a final stage in clinical testing. Now, Fox Chase Cancer Center Partners will have the option to participate earlier in the clinical trials process, including phase II trials available only through the partnership with Fox Chase.

In addition, Fox Chase will help its Partners open phase II studies within their own programs in the community. Fox Chase will also support physician-initiated studies and pharmaceutical research collaborations with its Partners.

"Clinical trials offer the most advanced treatments," explained Engstrom. "Increasing volunteer participation in clinical trials is necessary to speed the completion of research studies aimed at improving cancer care. Clinical studies may involve new cancer treatments, unique surgical techniques, successful new technologies, cancer prevention studies or behavioral interventions."

About 18,000 new cancer cases are diagnosed each year at Fox Chase Cancer Center Partner hospitals. Over the past five years, Fox Chase Network hospitals have recruited 2,126 volunteers for clinical research studies, making the program the fourth leading community hospital program for accrual in the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG). ECOG is one of the largest clinical cancer research organizations in the country.

Because of its membership in the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), Fox Chase offers its Partners free access to cancer treatment guidelines, developed by leading physicians from 20 of the world s leading cancer centers. These guidelines represent the most-advanced treatment information available based on the latest cancer research. Fox Chase is the only NCCN member in New Jersey, Southeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware.

In addition to expanding treatment clinical trials, Fox Chase Cancer Center Partners will continue to make valuable contributions to cancer prevention research by offering cancer prevention studies to people at an increased risk of developing cancer because of their family history of cancer or genetic disposition. Also, Fox Chase will continue to work with Partner hospitals to expand risk assessment programs.

The Fox Chase Cancer Center Partners program also presents a growing array of community and professional education resources, ranging from community events and symposia to continuing medical education luncheons, scientific dinner meetings, teaching rounds and tumor conferences for physicians. Nursing education resources include chemotherapy courses, core curriculum courses for Oncology Nursing Society certification exams, disease-specific programs, nursing grand rounds, pain-management training and radiation oncology conferences.

Hospitals chosen to be Fox Chase Cancer Center Partners include:

New Jersey

Community Medical Center, Toms River

Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood

Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington

Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank

South Jersey Healthcare, Elmer and Vineland

St. Francis Medical Center, Trenton
