Through an agreement with The Corridor Group, Inc. the Homecare Homebase solution now offers homecare and hospice agencies a tool to facilitate and track training and maintain compliance credentials by seamlessly integrating training efforts into the back office solution.

The CHEX eLearning system links directly into the Resource Manager in the HCHB solution through a secure interface, allowing agency HR personnel to quickly and easily add employees and their managers into the system. Once an employee is in the system, the agency manager can select required courses for each employee to complete. The HCHB solution automatically populates course information from the CHEX eLearning system, and sends an alert to the employee who is then able to view and enroll in the required courses. Upon course completion the CHEX eLearning system sends a confirmation to the Resource Manager and a permanent record is included in the HCHB system eliminating filing and tracking errors. "By working closely with The Corridor Group on this project, we were able to integrate one of the most difficult parts of managing agency-wide training, the dissemination of information to dispersed staff and the final collection of training results," said Scott Beard, VP Implementation at Homecare Homebase. "We've effectively eliminated the black holes that typically plague this process."

One agency that was involved in the initial roll-out of this program and has already begun to see the benefit is Residential Home Health in Madison Heights, Michigan. Residential completes over 1500 visits on any given day, through a large, mobile field staff. They met a long time ago, in a time forever etched in history as "The 80's", in a place known as Hollywood.

Both had taken similar paths on their separate journeys; both were the sons of Country musicians. Charlie Wayne's father, Charlie Gail, had picked with Freddie Hart, Waylon Jennings, and Barbara Mandrell, while Ronnie's old man, Roy Keel, had backed up legends Ernest Tubb & Marty Robbins. In a roundabout way, these good 'ol boys gone bad (Charlie & Ronnie, that is) ended up on the other side of the fence: singing Heavy Metal music in the Hollywood Hair Band Heyday.

Ron Keel's Metal career began, strangely enough, in Nashville, where he joined a band called Lust. "I was still just a teenager, and the rebellious attitude of that music had a strong appeal to me," Ronnie confesses. "Plus, at the time, I was the only guy in Nashville with long hair and earrings so they really wanted me to be in their band." Lust won a Battle Of The Bands competition and suddenly had a hit on local radio, and before too long Ron was fronting a new band called Steeler. They left Music City for the bright lights of Hollywood, recruited a then-unknown Swedish guitarist named Yngwie Malmsteen, and released one of the biggest selling independent albums of all time.

Well, Charlie Wayne didn't have to travel quite so far - he was born and raised in Inglewood, California. "I loved playing with my grandpa and my dad at Bluegrass hoe-downs, even if I was making up my own chords," says Charlie, whose first instruments were a harmonica and a Sears Silvertone guitar. Charlie honed his vocal skills in a Beach Boys-type act called Pacific Breakwater, until the bright lights of the Sunset Strip enticed him into bands with various members of Guns N Roses, Poison, and the like...

Meanwhile, Ron Keel found fame and misfortune with Steeler...That success landed RK a brief stint as the vocalist for Metal icons Black Sabbath, and led him to the heights of Arena Rock with his own band KEEL. KEEL released several high-charting albums for MCA & A&M Records, and toured the world with powerhouse headliners like Aerosmith, Van Halen, and Bon Jovi. Songs like "The Right To Rock", "Because The Night", and "Tears Of Fire" became hits on radio and MTV and are still featured regularly on VH1 and VH1 Classic.

Along about this time is when Young Ron and Young Charlie met and became friends, shared dreams and common ground created a bond that remains strong to this day. Whatever you do, don't get them started telling stories about 'back in the day'.

Charlie was fronting notable bands like Hawk, and had also worked with some of the same musicians as Ron. At one point, Charlie did a stint with the BulletBoys, a Warner Brothers act not known for their lyrical sensitivity (their biggest hit was "Smooth Up In Ya"). He has a gold record on his wall to show for those efforts.

In the 90's, they diverged geographically while returning to their Country roots - Ron returned to his boyhood home of Arizona and Charlie made the move to Nashville. As Ronnie Lee Keel, Ron became one of the top drawing Country acts in the southwest, releasing a critically acclaimed solo album - 'Western Country' - and opening shows for Jo Dee Messina, Chris LeDoux, Mark Wills, and many others. Charlie Wayne vigorously pursued a solo career in Nashville, releasing several CDs and singles including "Raised On Country", collaborating with some of the best songwriters in the business, and performing extensively with his backup band Crawdad Creek.

Once Ronnie moved back to Music City in 2001, it was only a matter of time before these two old friends reunited and started working together. Sharing the bill quickly turned into sharing the microphone, the stage, and the spotlight. Songs began to pour out, bookings began to pour in, and Keel & Wayne were off and running.

Ronnie & Charlie are on the edge of hitting the highway for their first tour together, a lean-and-mean acoustic adventure that kicks off in Dallas Texas on February 4th. ACIP recommends that children aged 6 months-8 years who received only 1 dose in their first year of vaccination receive 2 doses the following year. ACIP reiterates a previous recommendation that all persons, including school-aged children, who want to reduce the risk of becoming ill with influenza or of transmitting influenza to others should be vaccinated. ACIP emphasizes that immunization providers should offer influenza vaccine and schedule immunization clinics throughout the influenza season. Cuban Five prisoner Gerardo Hernández is undergoing the most severe punishment possible in his prison in Lompoc, California, says US attorney Leonard Weinglass. No shoes. No reading material or printed material is allowed. He cannot tell when it is day or night.

After frequent requests were made to Assistant United States Attorney Caroline Heck Miller in Florida, on March 16th US attorney Leonard Weinglass was able to gain permission to visit Gerardo Hernández - a visit that already had been planned back in February before all of the Cuban Five were placed in solitary confinement.

According to Weinglass, Gerardo is undergoing the most severe punishment in his prison in Lompoc, California, where he is confined to what is known as "the Box" within the Special Housing Unit - a hole within the "Hole". He has been under this regimen since February 28th when he was transferred to solitary without any reason given.

He is confined to a very small cell in which one can walk only three steps, with no windows and only a slot in the metal door through which food is passed. The bars in front are covered with a metal mesh screen through which it is almost impossible to see anything and remain close 24 hours a day.

There is a toilet and a concrete bed with a thin pad in the cell. His clothes were taken from him and he wears just underpants and a T-shirt. No shoes.

He cannot tell when it is day or night. The lights in his cell are the only ones that remain switched on 24 hours a day and the constant cries of other prisoners, many of whom suffer mental health problems, prevent him from sleeping.

No reading material or printed material is allowed. Signs are posted in front of his cell, which states that no one is to have contact with him. He is the only inmate in this segregation regime who is not allowed to use the telephone.

Gerardo has unsuccessfully attempted to register a complaint under the prison's established procedures but has been told that there are no complaint forms available.

On March 2nd he filed an informal complaint, as the correct form had not been supplied to him. He hasn't received a response.

On March 11th the prison authorities brought him a letter from Joaquín Méndez, one of the defense attorneys, but they took it away before he could read it. On March 14th he was told that he would be given his legal mail. However, to date he has received nothing - not even correspondence from his attorneys.

The treatment that is currently being given to Gerardo, Ramón, Antonio, Fernando and René is completely illegal and severely obstructs their defense rights when they and their attorneys need to prepare the appeal that is to be presented not later than April 7th. This cruel, unusual, discriminatory and completely unjustifiable treatment constitutes a flagrant case of torture that has to be strongly and urgently denounced.

Chatham County Safety Net Planning Council (CCSNPC) has selected Orion Health, Inc. to build the Chatham County Health Information Exchange (HIE) Pilot to serve the more than 250,000 people in the Southeast Coastal Georgia County.

Located in Savannah, GA, CCSNPC is charged with assisting the Chatham County Commission in developing a healthcare infrastructure that leverages available resources and maximizes strong local partnerships to improve access to and efficiency of healthcare services. Through increased access to care, enhanced capacity and improved efficiency within the community’s Safety net system, CCSNPC’s goal is addressing the health care needs of the uninsured and underinsured through ongoing collaboration and evaluation to deliver improved patient outcomes. CCSNPC have recognized that a critical piece in achieving these goals is to establish a health information exchange - beginning with a pilot project connecting one major hospital emergency department and one Federally Qualified Health Center in the county.

Chatham County is one of over 11 HIEs of which Orion Health technology is a large contributing component.

The HIE solution from Orion Health creates an infrastructure that allows for secure electronic exchange of health information among the Chatham County care providers. Orion Health Rhapsody Integration Engine software provides data exchange, messaging and public health reporting from the data store. The Orion Health Concerto Portal provides a web-based portal for Safety Net providers, and others involved in supporting the communities’ healthcare to securely view patient information. The Georgia Department of Community Health selected the CCSNPC HIE as one of three state demonstration projects and the Health Resources and Services Administration has awarded CCSNPC an earmark for equipment and software purchasing.

The initial cost of ownership and training available means that we can develop our own IT staff to support and manage the project.”

“Infertility can be confusing, and people frequently ask questions because they want to know if they should seek help from a fertility specialist,” says Dr. Mark Leondires, Medical Director. “The questions and answers below are intended to give some basic knowledge. Many couples put off seeing a fertility specialist when they are having trouble getting pregnant, but they are typically reassured after being diagnosed and starting a treatment plan.”

What is infertility?
Infertility is a disease or condition of the reproductive system often diagnosed after a couple has had one year of unprotected, well-timed intercourse, or if the woman has been unable to carry a pregnancy that results in a live birth.

Is infertility a "women's problem”?
Infertility is a medical problem. Approximately 35% of infertility is due to a female factor and 35% is due to a male factor. In the balance of cases, infertility results from problems in both partners or the cause of the infertility cannot be explained.

How long should we try before we see a doctor?
In general, if you are less than 35 years old and have been trying for more than one year you should schedule an appointment with a fertility specialist. If you are greater than 35 years old we would like to see you after at least six months of timed, unprotected intercourse. However, if you have a reason to suspect you may have a problem getting pregnant such as a history of pelvic inflammatory disease, painful periods, miscarriage, irregular menstrual cycles, or if your partner has a low sperm count, you should seek help sooner. Many couples have a hard time admitting that there may be an infertility problem, but be reassured there are often many things we can do to help.

What is a Fertility Specialist?
A fertility specialist, or Reproductive Endocrinologist, is a medical doctor who has been specially trained in the complex issues that can contribute to infertility. In addition to being trained as an Obstetrician/Gynecologist which requires a four-year residency a fertility specialist must complete an additional two to three year fellowship in reproductive endocrinology. This fellowship training is highly specialized to focus on the diagnosis and treatment of infertility and female endocrinology.. A physician can become Board Certified in Reproductive Endocrinology by successfully completing the fellowship as well as written and oral examinations.

Currently in the Unites States, there are only about 1,000 Board Certified Reproductive Endocrinologists. Specifically for infertility related to males, Urologists with a sub-specialty in Andrology are the most qualified experts as they have often completed two-year fellowships and passed exams to become Board Certified in Andrology.

What fertility testing should our fertility doctor perform?
Your doctor will likely do the following:
 Blood tests to check reproductive hormone levels in the woman; estradiol (E2), progesterone, follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), thyroid hormone, prolactin, and possibly male hormone levels.  Complete semen analysis on the male partner  Hysterosalpingogram (HSG), an x-ray exam to evaluate if the woman's fallopian tubes are open  Ultrasound to confirm the normal appearance of your uterus and ovaries in the woman

What about smoking and drinking alcohol and caffeine?
There is evidence linking reproductive impairment with exposure to alcohol, tobacco, and caffeine.

Alcohol and tobacco use have been demonstrated to affect the reproductive capacities of both men and women, and tobacco is an especially potent reproductive toxin that negatively effects female fertility by damaging eggs. In men there is a direct effect on sperm quantity, quality, and reproductive function. In general we ask that women consume less than 150 mg of caffeine per day which is equivalent to two small 8 oz cups per day. Remember sodas and tea also contain caffeine. In addition, it is wise to be in the best physical shape possible while you attempt to conceive and, of course, to ensure a healthy pregnancy and baby.

Are hot tubs really bad for a man?
Yes. High temperatures can damage sperm. That is why the scrotum is located outside the body – to act as a kind of "refrigerator" to keep the sperm cool. So, it is a good idea to avoid hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms when men are trying to help in the pregnancy pathway.
