New York, NY (PRWEB) March 17, 2010

Home publications topped the list of publications with the most significant five year growth, up from 123 titles in 2005 to 337 titles in 2010, according to the new edition of The Standard Periodical Directory (http://www. mediafinder. com (http://www. mediafinder. com)) released today.

The Standard Periodical Directory is the largest directory of U. S. and Canadian periodicals, with information on 65,166 publications: magazines (16,770), journals (13,469), newspapers (8,503), newsletters (15,061), directories (3,302), and yearbooks (973). The online edition of the Standard Periodical Directory is available at www. mediafinder. com.

Over the last five years, celebrity publications also showed significant growth from 81 titles to 139, according to The Standard Periodical Directory. New celebrity titles include Disney twenty-three and Juicy.

"While home magazines experienced strong growth over the last five years, 2009 was tough year for that category with the closing of Country Home, Southern Accents, Domino, Backyard Living, and Metropolitan Home," said Trish Hagood, President of Oxbridge Communications. "In the celebrity world, consumer interest in fan publications continues helping to spur growth in that category."

Publication categories that experienced growth from 2005 to 2010 include Oil/Natural Gas, Wildlife, Genetics, Forestry, Biology, and Water Supply. At the same time, declining categories include Sex (34%), Employment (28%), and Manufacturing (24%).

While home publications are strong (337 titles), the categories with the most titles continue to be: Medicine (3,285), Law (2,357), Ethnic (2,179), Computers (1,882), Religion (1,833), Education (1,473), Business (1,365), Health (1,237), Investment (1,136), and Travel (1,131).

The trend from print-only publications to combinations of print and online products continues in 2010. The Standard Periodical Directory includes information on 23,107 print-only publications, and 25,357 publications that are available in both print and electronic formats. Electronic-only publications (6,944 titles) include online, e-mail, fax or digital outputs.

The Standard Periodical Directory 2010 edition lists 36,737 publications that accept advertising, and 10,380 that rent their subscriber lists. In addition, it includes information on 57,813 company Web sites and 49,877 company e-mail addresses; 17,672 title Web sites and 23,219 title e-mail addresses.

Available immediately at www. mediafinder. com or by calling 1-800-955-0231, The Standard Periodical Directory is priced at $1,995 for the print edition and $1,295 for an online MediaFinder® subscription, www. mediafinder. com.
