Oakland, CA (PRWEB) October 8, 2007
Lloyd Dangle, political cartoonist, will be speaking on the value of copyright for individual artists at this year's Copyright Alliance -- http://www. copyrightalliance. org/ (http://www. copyrightalliance. org/) -- Exponential conference, to be hosted by Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Thursday October 11, in the Canon House Office Building, Washington DC.
Dangle will be featured along with policy makers and artists from a variety of media to discuss the enormous economic benefits generated by copyright-protected works of authorship. Copyright Alliance member organizations will exhibit creative works, new technologies, the latest copyright news and new information detailing how copyright protection benefits each state.
Lloyd Dangle will be blogging his observations from the conference live at http://troublogtown. blogspot. com (http://troublogtown. blogspot. com), on October 11, and then appearing in person October 12 and 13 at SPX 2007, Small Press Expo http://www. spxo. com (http://www. spxo. com) in Bethesda, Maryland.
Dangle's "Troubletown Told You So; Comics that Could've Saved Us from This Mess", released in 2007, with a foreword from Dan Savage, has been heralded by rabid lefties and milquetoast Democrats alike as the definitive -- and also hilarious -- account of the Bush presidency.
Bloggernews. com called the book "Poignant, amazing... damn near clairvoyant", and the Hartford Advocate termed it, "Hilarious and intelligent simultaneously -- not an easy trick to pull off." The book is now ranked in the top ten of About. com's best political humor books. The book and Troubletown's web site is http://www. troubletown. com (http://www. troubletown. com).
Syndicated to alternative newsweeklies in dozens of cities, Troubletown has enjoyed a devoted "Dangled" following for over 15 years, and Dangle has been oft-cited as a new breed of satirist whose wit and humor challenges the mainstream with outspoken and engaging cartoons.
"Dangle deserves praise for his directness in pointing out what a bunch of dangerous morons George Bush and his supporters are," said Harvey Pekar, of American Splendor comics and motion picture.
Lloyd's work as a cartoonist has been featured in leading publications including American Lawyer, San Francisco Chronicle, Mother Jones, Motorbooty, The Nation, The New York Times, Outside, Time Magazine, Utne Reader, Village Voice and Wired. Lloyd was also the first cartoonist assigned by a newspaper to cover the Republican Convention armed only with his eyeballs, drawing pen and blank sketchbook.
Dangle will be signing copies of his books at 2:00 to 2:45 at SPX 2007, on both Saturday and Sunday, Oct 12-13, at the Top Shelf Productions booth. Dangle can also be tapped at SPX for in-depth interviews on how comics can change the world or at least the next election if only they're used properly. SPX will be held at the Marriott Bethesda North Hotel and Conference Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
Dangle's speaking engagements have been heralded as both entertaining and captivating and his wit, humor and charm are applicable in almost every setting -- and he's always armed with Airborne Health Formula (which features his cartoony packaging) to ensure that everyone stays hale and healthy during his presentation.
Dangle can be booked through his publicist, Nettie Hartsock, who can be reached at nettie AT nettiehartsock. com or 512-396-1067. He can also be contacted directly via email at Lloyd AT troubletown. com. Reviewer copies for Lloyd's book and requests for interviews can also be made through Ms. Hartsock.
