HM Graphics' continues its HM3D Solutions Direct Mail Campaign in 2001. This program promotes HM Graphics' three-dimensional printing capabilities. Despite the soft printing market and the weak economy, HM3D Solutions' success makes it possible for a new expansion project totaling more than $4 million dollars. This year, HM Graphics expands its prepress, press and fulfillment/distribution departments.
Prepress upgrades include a new Screen PT-R8000 Thermal Platesetter, fabricated work stations with Power G4 Macintosh computers, internal FTP server and gigabit network. The new Thermal Platesetter creates digital plates 33% faster, and requires 75% less maintenance than its earlier predecessors. The FTP site allows HM's clients to instantly transfer digital files, too large for e-mail, to a local network eliminating costly shipping rates, sluggish turnaround times and file degradation. The FTP sever, in conjunction with the new internal gigabit network, allows faster file transfers between workstations.
HM Graphics' press room receives a new six color Heidelberg press with in-line Aqueous Coaters and IR Dryers. The installation of this state-of-the-art press enhances HM Graphics' print quality and production turnaround times. Equipped with the latest Spectrophotometer technology, HM's color reproduction surpasses its competition's.
HM Graphics' fulfillment/distribution department also acquires new technology. A Marconi PrintPro ES System, two Kyocera Laser Printing Systems and a Hewlett Packard 8000 Laser Printing System make up a few of the new devices. Utilizing Marconi imaging technology increases HM's direct mail services. Imaging is cleaner and sharper than standard Ink Jet Imaging Systems. These services help HM's clientele save thousands of dollars on costly shipping cartons and labels.
All expansions are possible due to the success of the HM3D Solutions marketing campaign. Response rates from the direct mailer and web site continue to produce more than a 10% response rate. The HM3D web site, located at www. hm3dsolutions. com, experiences an average of 300-400 hits a week. KathyAnn Sandstrom, vice president of marketing, attributes most of the web site's success to the direct mail campaign.
"You can't build a web site without developing a means to promote it," states Sandstrom. "In order to drive the desired audience to your site, you have to target them through traditional promotions. We are long past the days of "Build a web site, and they will come."
The direct mail piece cost $12.00 per unit. This year's campaign is projected across the nation to print production managers and creative professionals working in advertising, marketing, communication and public relations firms. Recipients are eligible for a free mechanical mock-up and electronic die line of their next three-dimensional project. The mailer offers prospects three methods to respond to the promotion. A reply card, web site special offer form and toll-free 800 number allow recipients to receive their free offer.
CheapTickets, Corbett Healthcare Group, Leapnet, Accenture, Del Webb and TV Guide Magazine make up a few of HM Graphics' new clientele generated by the HM3D Solutions B-to-B marketing campaign. By continuing the promotion and expanding its services, HM Graphics hopes to grow HM3D Solutions into a leader in the three-dimensional packaging industry.
