Digital dictation and speech recognition project recognised in Health Business IT innovation award for East Kent Hospitals.
London (PRWEB) January 14, 2010
SRC, the leading provider of document workflow solutions, today announced that East Kent University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have won the prestigious Health Business IT Innovation award. The project was selected by a panel of independent judges from a wide range of nominations from NHS Trusts across the UK.
The award recognises the Trust’s cellular pathology department’s 400% improvement in document turnaround times for life-saving diagnosis, using the digital dictation and speech recognition solution provided by SRC.
The solution was also integrated with the Trusts laboratory information system iLAB, enabling same day reporting turnaround times, which is reflected in cost savings, meeting the cancer waiting times and faster patient treatment times.
Paul Williams, Head BMS Cellular Pathology at East Kent University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said: “We are delighted to have won the award, which reinforces our decision to roll out dictation technologies. The new system has helped staff eradicate typing backlogs and produce patient critical documents quickly and easily. The services SRC provided have played a pivotal role in the overall success of the project. We look forward to working with them to further streamline tasks right through the dictation, typing and document sending process.”
Chris Hart, CEO at SRC added: “We are extremely pleased that East Kent University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have received this recognition for embracing innovation, and delivering major improvements to document turnaround times. SRC is proud to be working with East Kent and similar NHS Trusts across the UK, implementing innovative solutions which make a real difference to patient care and the efficiency with which healthcare services are delivered."
