New Orleans, LA (PRWEB) November 16, 2007
The Lionman Foundation has teamed up with the New Orleans Hornets to present the first ever Lionman Youth Extravaganza at the New Orleans Arena on November 21, 2007, the day before Thanksgiving, from 8:30 a. m. to 5:00 p. m. The only festival in New Orleans created solely for children 12 and under, the Extravaganza promises to be a day the children of New Orleans won't forget. And to top things off, the first one-thousand lucky attendees will receive a free ticket to the Hornets vs. the Pacers game at 7:00 p. m. that evening.
Jam-packed with fun and excitement, the Extravaganza will feature loads of safe, family fun including space walks, rock climbing walls, trains, face painting and a beauty pageant. NBA Hornets player Chris Paul, along with the Honeybees and Hugo the Hornet, will be signing autographs and taking pictures with the kids and Saints Hall of Fame inductee Joe Johnson, of the Built-to-Last Foundation, will be featured at the punt, pass and kick station.
There also will be various other performance demonstrations taking place throughout the day including Cheerleading, Stomp, and Martial Arts Demonstrations. And to help kids stay in top form, Steve Harvey's personal trainer, aka "The Fitness Queen," Dawn Strozier will be at the health and fitness exhibition where parents can get information about keeping their children fit and healthy and kids can learn lots of fun ways to stay in shape. Also, look for characters from popular children's television shows that will be in and around the Arena taking pictures with the kids. The Lionman Youth Extravaganza promises all this and many more exiting activities geared toward children and their families.
In addition, the Lionman A-1 Drill Team will be performing at half-time during the Hornets vs. the Pacers game after the Extravaganza. Comprised of one hundred children from over 30 New Orleans public schools, the A-1 Drill Team is one of the various components of the Lionman "1000 Beams of Light" program. Last summer, the A-1 Drill Team wowed the Essence Festival with their impressive, synchronized moves, and because of the positive response from their performance, we decided to bring the kids back to the Lionman Youth Extravaganza.
Seven-time United States Karate Alliance World Champion and International Karate Hall of Fame inductee Master Eric O'Neal created the Lionman "1000 Beams of Light" program to better the lives of the children of New Orleans through education and self-discipline. "Our focus in the wake of hurricane Katrina is to help the recovery efforts of the New Orleans Public School System," said Master O'Neal. "The goal of the Lionman '1000 Beams of Light' program is to uplift the spirit of the children of New Orleans and empower them through education and in-school and after-school activities. It takes a village to raise a child. We are working to create that village to keep them off the streets and out of trouble."
The Lionman Youth Extravaganza will take place at the New Orleans Arena, Home of the Hornets, located at 1501 Girod Street in New Orleans. Event admission is $20.00 which includes all activities.
