The Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (AG Bell) announced today that Lee Woodruff, bestselling author and contributing editor for ABC's "Good Morning America," will be the keynote speaker for the AG Bell 2010 biennial convention from June 25-28 in Orlando, Fla.
Established in 1890, AG Bell is the only national organization dedicated to supporting children and adults who are deaf or hard of hearing who use spoken language and hearing technology to communicate. The AG Bell 2010 convention will take place at the brand-new, state-of-the-art Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek and marks the 49th such convention in the nonprofit association's history.
Lee Woodruff is a co-author of the best-selling book, "In an Instant," an account of her family's journey to recovery after her husband, ABC news anchor Bob Woodruff, suffered a traumatic brain injury as a result of a roadside bomb while covering the war in Iraq. The Woodruffs are parents to four children, including Nora who has severe hearing loss and listens and talks. Woodruff recently released her second book, "Perfectly Imperfect - A Life in Progress," a sensitive and often humorous account of navigating life's rougher pavement, imperfections, trials and triumphs. Woodruff has penned numerous personal articles about her family and parenting that have run in publications such as Health, Redbook, Country Living, Parade and Family Fun.
"Mrs. Woodruff's experiences as a mother of a child with hearing loss enable her to relate with all our members whether they are parents, adults who are deaf or hard of hearing, or professionals supporting those with hearing loss and their families," said AG Bell President John R.
