Newport Beach Cosmetic Dentist Dr. John Cross Pays and Plays to Fight Ovarian Cancer

At his Newport Beach cosmetic dentistry practice, OC Lifesmiles, Dr. John Cross offers a number of procedures to help his patients stay healthy, including oral cancer screenings. Pursuing the same goal wearing a different hat, Dr. Cross recently joined the battle against ovarian cancer by donating his time and money while playing in the Queen of Hearts Foundation Pro-Am tennis Tournament.

While Dr. John Cross, a cosmetic dentist in Newport Beach (http://www. oclifesmiles. com/cosmetic-dentist-newport-beach-ca/), typically helps his patients create the beautiful smiles they deserve while maintaining a healthy mouth with routine cleanings and oral cancer screenings, he recently switched gears by donating his time and money to support the fight against ovarian cancer. At the Inaugural Queen of Hearts Foundation Pro-Am Classic Tennis Tournament, Dr. Cross and his pro tennis partner Peter Smith, a University of Southern California coach, defeated a talented field of players. While Dr. Cross spends his average day providing cosmetic dentistry treatments for his patients, such as teeth whitening in Newport Beach (http://www. oclifesmiles. com/whitening/teeth-zoom-newport-beach-ca/), he says he was glad to support another worthy cause by contributing to the Queen of Hearts Foundation.

All proceeds from the tournament will go to the CHAO Cancer Center at the University of California in Irvine to increase the drive to provide early detection tests for ovarian cancer, one of the most deadly cancers affecting women. With nearly 21,500 women expected to be diagnosed each year, early detection results in a five-year survival rate of 93%. While Dr. Cross typically supports healthy smiles with cosmetic dentistry procedures such as porcelain veneers in Newport Beach (http://www. oclifesmiles. com/cosmetic/porcelain-dental-veneers-newport-beach-ca/), he traded in his usual dental tools for a tennis racquet to join the host of celebrities, including Gavin Rossdale from the musical band Bush. In cooperation with the Queen of Hearts Foundation, Dr. Cross and the tournament participants are dedicated to the realization of early testing for all women.

Over the last seven years, the Queen of Hearts Foundation, with the help of celebrities and health care professionals alike, has donated over $1 million to support early detection testing. Whether playing tennis as part of the battle against ovarian cancer, performing cosmetic or restorative procedures, or providing oral cancer screenings as a dentist in Newport Beach (http://www. oclifesmiles. com/), Dr. Cross says he enjoys supporting a cause that can increase the health of his patients and surrounding community.
