August Summary for Fernandina Beach Rotary Club

In August, the Fernandina Beach Rotary Club continued its growth and community outreach.

August, 2003 -- In August, the Fernandina Beach Rotary Club continued its growth and community outreach.

Three new members were inducted locally. New Rotarians joining in August are MaryAnn Marotta, manager of Enterprise Car Rental; Jerry Cooper, a retired manager; and Sean McGill, manager of the Fixed Base Operations at the Fernandina Airport.

The Florida Park Service commended the Rotary Club for providing 300 fishing rods and reels to area youth. The club also completed a roadside cleanup along the Amelia Island Parkway with Explorer Scouts.

August Speakers included Michael Kelly, President and CEO of the Jacksonville Super Bowl Host Committee; Ken Amaro of First Coast News; Jon Gordon "The Energy Addict;" Rotary District Governor Ken Smallwood of the Orange Park Rotary Club; and Nancy Freeman of the Nassau County Emergency Services Department.

The Rotary Ball, which raises funds for the local Rotary scholarship program, is coming up in early 2004.
