The Fall Collaborative Communications Summit: Transforming Healthcare through Health Information Technology will take place November 5-6, 2007 at The Peninsula Beverly Hills.

One highlight of the Fall CCS is a keynote presentation from John Anderson, MD, FACS, the Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Catholic Health Initiatives. Dr. Anderson will address the Summit on Nov. 5, providing his perspective on the ever-changing healthcare provider landscape and the rapid pace at which health information technology is impacting these changes.

The implementation of various technologies designed to improve the overall quality of healthcare has become top priority in most healthcare organizations and facilities throughout the country. It's possible that the most difficult task in these implementations is targeting the proper HIT initiatives for specific circumstances. However, Dr. Anderson's keynote will speak to how he feels providers need to spend less time figuring out how to use HIT, and focus more on the fundamental problems that clinicians think need to be solved.

Dr. Anderson's numerous experiences enable him to lend a unique perspective to the current whirlwind transformation healthcare is undergoing due to technological advancements and the ever-increasing importance of patient safety and privacy. Prior to joining Catholic Health Initiatives, Dr. Anderson oversaw clinical integration and physician services at Baylor Health Care System of Dallas, Texas, and was the chief medical officer for the system's flagship hospital, Baylor University Medical Center. He has also served as the Chair of the Texas Hospital Association's Quality and Patient Safety Committee.
