SECURITY & FIRE SYSTEM INTEGRATION SPECIALIST, POINTER, JOIN ELITE GROUP

Security and fire system integration specialist, Pointer, has joined an elite group of installers to be awarded recognition under the new National Security Inspectorate's Fire Gold Scheme. The scheme meets the requirements of British Association of Fire Engineers SP203 and follows stringent evaluation by NSI inspectors. Pointer have passed assessments for the design, installation, commissioning and hand over, verification and maintenance of fire detection and alarm systems at both their Glasgow and Leeds locations.

Managing director, Sandy Rowan explained, "The BAFE initiative is the first modular scheme in the country to independently test and certify the competence of fire equipment installers. It will provide an additional measure of assurance for insurers, surveyors, specifiers, health and safety professionals and users of fire systems. Many people in the company have worked hard to achieve this recognition and we are pleased to be leading the field once again."

Certificates were presented by Tom Mullarkey, chief executive of the NSI, and Rory Hennessy, fire and petroleum risk manager for Tesco, to Pointer directors Jim Jamieson and Ian Stones. The presentation took place on May 20 at the FIREX/IFSEC trade show and is the latest of many accreditations. Pointer were among the first companies in the security industry to achieve ISO 9000 quality accreditation and are now accredited to the latest ISO 9001 (2000) standard. They were also early entrants in the Investors in People programme and have now had their third IIP assessment and accreditation.
