Carpinteria, California (Vocus) July 9, 2010
NuSil Technology LLC, a global manufacturer of silicone materials for the personal care, healthcare and pharmaceutical industries, announces release of PCM-7919 (http://www. nusil. com/library/products/PCM-7919P. pdf), a PEG/PPG-18/18 dimethicone compatible with a wide range of cosmetic ingredients.
PCM-7919 is a water-soluble, silicone-glycol copolymer that acts as a wetting agent and emulsifier. PCM-7919 has an approximate 1,500 cP viscosity, requires low usage levels, and can be considered for use in hair care formulations to add silkiness, shine and lubricity. It can also act as a detangling agent or resin plasticizer in hair-styling products or as a humectant and emollient in skin products.
“PCM-7919 is a good surface tension depressant that does not irritate skin,” said Brian Reilly, Product Director - Healthcare Materials. “It makes for very stable formulations.”
NuSil’s long history of supplying silicones to the medical device industry gives it the ability and experience to provide a wealth of regulatory support to the personal care industry. This support may include extensive biocompatibility testing, cytotoxicity texting, trace metal analysis, and Master Access Files (MAF).
