Optimal Solutions and Technologies (OST), a CMMI Level 3 externally appraised information technology services provider, announced that the company has been awarded a task order with the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) to provide a range of management and technical support services to the Asset Management and National Airspace System (NAS) Supply Support Team (AM&NSST). This task order was awarded under the FAA's Broad Information Technology and Telecommunications Support Services (BITS II) contract through its comparison process. The Asset Management and NAS Supply Support Team provides critical support to the FAA to meet Congressional and DOT mandated asset management requirements and to provide NAS logistics supply support services.. The Asset Management and NAS Supply Support Team serves as the FAA Property Manager and fulfills the agency's life cycle asset management and supply support requirements. In addition, the AM&NSST is tasked to design, build, implement, and maintain the official personal property system of record used FAA-wide to meet the requirements and needs of the FAA, as well as for federal asset reporting requirements.
The scope of work includes complex skills and technical project management knowledge. OST will continue developing, implementing, and maintaining the current web-based Asset Inventory Tracking System (AITS) based on increased capacity for sustained technical and functional capabilities required to support federal and agency policy. OST will also develop, implement and maintain the Handheld Bar Code Scanning Application that works with AITS, and modernize the legacy Shipments in Place system (SIP). Additionally, OST will conduct all required project management activities for each release of AITS and the Handheld Bar Scanning Application projects, conduct asset management and logistics assessments, and provide mission activity support, as well as troubleshooting support for system development and system architecture.
The firm's President and CEO, Vijay Narula, expressed delight at winning another opportunity to continue the firm's long standing partnership with the FAA. "OST brings over 200 staff years of FAA experience to this opportunity. OST knows the FAA culture and the FAA way of doing business, and we have a team that understands asset and logistics management. We have the expertise in the processes to track assets from acquisition to disposition stage."
Ajay Madan, OST COO, commented on how well the company is positioned to support the FAA in these areas. "OST has a unique portfolio, as we have expertise in the Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics domains. We have hands on experience with FAA policies and procedures directly dealing with asset management and system development, and have developed various asset management systems used at FAA to track personal property.
