How Companies can Utilize their Captives for Employee Benefits

MINNEAPOLIS, MN—The Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA) 2010 Fall Seminar will take place October 4 at the ASAE Conference Center in Washington, DC. This event will focus on how companies can utilize their captives for employee benefits.

What is the Benefits Buzz All About? — with Karin Landry, Managing Partner, Spring Consulting Group;
*A View from the DOL—with Nancy Gerrie, Attorney at Law, McDermott, Will & Emery, LLP, on the typical DOL decisions and process than an employer needs to address when it comes to turning to captive for funding employee benefits;
*US vs. Non-US Benefits— this session takes a look at benefits around the globe;
Pure Captives—with Michael Lubben, Vice President, Risk Management, Ryder System Inc., Mark Walker, Manager of Sales-Northeast Region, Minnesota Life Insurance Co. and Joseph Poplaski, Sr. VP and Chief Actuary-Group Market, Liberty Mutual, - reviewing the structure of a traditional captive and discuss funding employee benefits in a captive, specifically life and disability;
*Group Captives—covering funding healthcare in group captives, including a review of group captive structure, key factors to consider and what may change in the coming year;
*RRGs/Cell/Other Structures—Dominic Palmieri, HM Life Insurance Company, on the basic structure of RRGs and cell captives, the benefits and issues, and funding healthcare benefits in this type of captive;
*Post Retirement Medical Funding— with Karin Landry, Managing Partner, Spring Consulting Group, covering how using investment products through a captive insurance company can address the options for funding retiree medical benefits and offsetting the liability they hold;
