SUN Management Joins with Single Parent Foundation, Inc -- 'Helping Single Parent Families Help Themselves'

SUN Management has teamed up with the Single Parent Foundation and Ray Salinas to bring awareness to an extraordinary charity foundation that is a completely new concept for single parents throughout the DFW area, with hopes to expand to a national level in the very near future.
Ray Salinas, a Dallas businessman, who also owns Sports Media, Inc. and holds the rights to the radio show “Cowboys Live” on ESPN 103.3 is looking to SUN, exclusively, to expand that market to a national level, as well as expand and market the Single Parent Foundation.
Over the past 30 years the number of single-mother families has increased 333%; single-father families have grown 508%. Seven out of ten households with children are maintained solely on the income of one parent. As you can imagine it gets harder everyday to meet the demands of parenting. These are astounding numbers and The Single Parent Foundation is asking for your lending hand to assist these families -- your neighbors, your colleagues, your child’s best friend’s family. These people are ready and willing to meet the challenges of raising their families alone, but too often the monthly costs of rent or mortgage, daycare, a car payment, groceries, healthcare and education leave very little for any unforeseen emergency or need. With the growing number of single parent families, Salinas, sought to help these individuals by forming the Single Parent Foundation, a 501C3 organization. The organization was designed to assist families on several levels, including transportation for emergency situations, buying groceries, or paying a light bill. Single Parent Foundation can also help parents with their educational needs, as well as training for interviews, and so much more.
With the endorsement of three-time Super Bowl Champioin, Darren Woodson, the charity is gaining momentum, but not without the help of local community businesses. Darren was an All-Pro strong safety for the Dallas Cowboys (1992-2004) and holds the record as the Cowboys All-Time Leading Tackler. Darren was also raised in a single parent family. “Growing up in a single parent household, I saw my mother struggle to make ends meet for her family. That’s why I’m supporting the Single Parent Foundation and their efforts to help those single mothers and fathers help meet the basic needs of their families.”

Single Parent Foundation is also sponsoring a 5K Fun Run and Kid Fest, Saturday, September 23 2006 at Austin Ranch (Windhaven Road and North Dallas Tollway) that will help raise funds for this important charity. SUN will be helping organize events, find companies that would like to exhibit their products, help in fundraising and securing sponsorships, organize silent auctions, and help in reaching out to the corporations that would like to donate to Single Parent Foundation throughout the year. Booths are still available for the 5K Fun Run and Kid Fest for between $500 - $1000.
