Sensitron, leader in Health Resource Management, partners with Monebo Technologies to deliver the Next Generation CareTrends(TM) System for Home Health Care

Sensitron to integrate the CardioBelt(TM) from Monebo as part of the CareTrends(TM) System for home health care of patients suffering from cardiac diseases. The system offers wireless (Bluetooth) vital signs monitoring, full ECG analysis capabilities, and unprecedented ease-of-use at very affordable prices.

(PRWEB) August 15, 2002

San Mateo, CA (August 13, 2002) –Today, Sensitron announced an agreement with Monebo Technologies to expand the capabilities of its CareTrends™ System to integrate the CardioBelt which adds full ECG analysis capabilities. The Sensitron / Monebo solution provides cardiac patients with the most cost-effective, complete monitoring system with the benefits of freedom to be on-the-go, maintain a high quality lifestyle, live independently at home, and receive specialized medical care. The CareTrends™ System from Sensitron is a low cost, knowledge based Health Resource Management solution which uses wireless enabled vital sign monitors to gather patient vital signs and automatically send them to the central server where they are analyzed. Alarms are determined and then delivered to the health care personnel in real time. CardioBelt™ from Monebo is an ambulatory patient-worn device which acquires and analyses ECG signals. The Home Health Care market represents a multi-billion dollar opportunity over the next five years, with CAGR in excess of 5%.

Sensitron has pioneered Health Resource Management (HRM) to contain cost, reduce medical errors and improve quality of medical care through its CareTrends™ System. Monebo has developed the CardioBelt™ technology which provides an accurate cardiogram trace and analysis using a wearable belt that needs no special preparation for positioning of the electrodes. By integrating an innovative product such as the CardioBelt™ with its CareTrends™ System, Sensitron plans to greatly extend the range of services offered through its HRM system to cardiac patients who can now be monitored while they are at home or almost anywhere.

This system offers a high reliability monitoring service with the following benefits:

• Empowers individuals to manage their own health by regular monitoring of vital signs.

• Increases user compliance and quality of care with an affordable, easy-to-use system. The simple user interface is wireless and no keyboard or computer operation is required.

• Medical care providers increase their efficiency by timely, remote review of the patientÂ’s ECG data analysis summary.

Cardiovascular diseases consume the largest portion of the health care dollars which were $1.4 trillion in 2000 and are expected to reach a staggering $2.1 trillion by 2007. In 1999 the US national expenditure for hospitals was $423 billion and continues to increase. Solutions such as HRM will be implemented by healthcare organizations to balance the need to deliver quality care and manage the cost of care.

Rajiv Jaluria, President & CEO of Sensitron, who co-founded the company with Dr. Ashok Kapoor comments, “Aging Baby Boomers will place increased pressure on our healthcare system already suffering from nursing shortages, spiraling costs, and troubling errors. We wanted to create a system that will relieve the crisis and deliver cost-effective Health Resource Management so that individuals can take charge of their health using enabling technology and an integrated healthcare team approach. The demonstrated success of Disease Management for cardiovascular conditions provides an ideal foundation for implementing HRM and further improving care outcomes. With the Monebo CardioBelt™ and vital sign monitoring we provide multi-parameter, knowledge based, patient specific data in real time to key medical personnel enabling timely, targeted intervention for better quality care.”

Monebo’s President and CEO, Dale Misczynski, indicated that the CardioBelt™ is an innovative breakthrough in wearable ECG acquisition and analysis, “Based upon technology originally developed for monitoring astronauts in space, Monebo’s approach opens new application potentials for high value, cost-effective, cardiac monitoring”.
