"We wanted to create a one stop shop for people who need the right equipment like exercise balls, yoga mats or energy supplements," said Jocelyn Jones.
Jones co-founded the site, which launched in April 2009. In the few weeks that it has been active, it's been gaining traction, attracting both fitness novices and longtime health enthusiasts.
In addition to having a well-stocked web store, JJHealthNFitness. com also has links to several other resources to help people lose excess weight.
"I've tried a few weight loss programs and it's about finding the right motivation," explained Jones. "Once you find something you're comfortable with, it can spark your own interest in fitness and health."
Some of Jones' experience and tips on getting fit will make its way to the website's blog, www. TheHealthNFitnessGuru. com, which launched simultaneously.
The blog serves to have imperative information on how to keep up with fitness programs and how to shape one's diet in order to burn the most fat as possible without having to compromise their health.
As the numbers for obese Americans continue to rise, the Jones hope that their site will make the difference for some people - even on a small level.
"People can come to one place and literally find all their fitness needs," said Jones. "We might not stop obesity, but we can at least provide the help."
