Mark Goodfriend to spearhead FireEar’s strategic initiative to partner with insurance industry to deliver innovative, affordable fire, temperature and power alerts to meet the needs of the growing home security market

FireEar Corporation, a leader in affordable home safety monitoring systems for fire, power and temperature, announced today the appointment of Mark Goodfriend to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). A seasoned CEO and board member, Mark is known for his keen entrepreneurial and business development talents, having worked in diverse senior management positions for both early stage and established companies.

For the past eight years, Mark has focused on business development and sales of new products and services in the insurance industry. Mark’s expertise directly supports one of FireEar’s primary business development initiatives: to partner with the insurance industry to offer customers affordable alert systems that increase prevention of loss while reducing costs for both homeowners and insurers. Insurance companies and brokers welcome the opportunity to lower claims, improve profits, and differentiate themselves by offering a policy discount (up to 11%) to clients that more than covers the FireEar service fees.

The FireEar FE-1100 monitor, recently named International CES Innovations 2010 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree, is a simple home monitoring device that works with the FireEar notification service to monitor the home for fire, power outages, indoor freezing and other abnormal temperatures. The temperature alerts can help lower the homeowner’s energy bill and prevent pipe freezes. Fire detection alerts are activated by listening to the existing smoke detector. Homeowners are notified of alerts by phone, text message and email, with additional professional monitoring available for fire that contacts FireEar agents and the fire department.

Prior to FireEar, Mark was CEO for DDRnet, Inc./SureCircle, where he directed the rejuvenation of a re-start, which had invested $6m in innovative healthcare administration technology and services. As vice-president of business development at S3 Technical Solutions, Inc., a firm that assists major insurance brokerages market online benefits administration software, Mark was key in capturing the company’s single largest insurance broker, a multi-million dollar customer.

Before working within the insurance industry, Mark founded a company that developed a ‘green’ battery for the energy field and worked at DHL Worldwide with primary shareholder, Larry Hillblom, to expand the U. S. distribution network and obtain the strategic objective to create the U. S. domestic airline, DHL Airways. At DHL international he worked on multiple projects, both corporate and the founder’s personal start-up companies in diverse industries where he Increased revenue and streamlined operations. Mark also served as the DHL Worldwide Global Director of Information Technology for four years.

Mark earned a B. S. in Electrical Engineering from the City University of NY and completed all coursework with honors in the Aeronautics and Astronautics Masters Program at New York University.
