Social Housing Seminars in Oxford

The first Social Housing seminar, to be held on Tuesday 17 October covers Successful Development and will be delivered by Elizabeth Hussain, Partner & Head of Social Housing, together with Giles Clifford, Partner & Head of PFI and Dan Cowley, Solicitor at Manches LLP. The seminar aims to provide an introduction and refresher on key issues arising in RSL development projects, including a case study of real life examples and an overview of more complex procurement routes such as PFI and joint ventures.

The second seminar provides a legal update for supported housing and will be held on Wednesday 8 November. The presenters are William Downing, Partner at Manches LLP and Emma Davies, a Solicitor at Manches LLP. The seminar includes an update on disability discrimination law for RSLs as it affects them in relation to both their stock and housing services and also as an employer. Manches speakers will also give an update on the health & safety obligations of an RSL, including the new fire safety legislation.

The last of the three Social Housing autumn seminars will be held on Wednesday 29 November on the theme of Streamlining the charging process. It is to be presented by Elizabeth Hussain, Partner & Head of Social Housing, together with Shuab Mirza, Senior Valuer, Countrywide and Mike Dudman of Abbey National plc. The seminar aims to provide an overview of the charging process by focusing on the role and function of the lender, valuer and lawyer, including identifying their information requirements when dealing with the securitisation of housing stock.
