RescueRehabHome. com. The Internet public relations and promotion helped raise over $20,000 in donations to rescue abandoned pets after Hurricane Katrina.

Lauderdale, Florida. Mr. Berkowitz showcased a website promotion and press release service he provided for Rescue Rehab Home, an organization dedicated to finding "forever homes" for pets.

Five winners were recognized for conducting the best and most unique PR campaigns in South Florida. Mr. Berkowitz' presentation on how to use press releases to generate traffic to a website won first place among the many presenters at the sixth annual Creative PR Olympics. Mr. Berkowitz showcased his successful efforts to raise money to help rescue and house abandoned pets through website promotion and press release services. The competition was emceed by Jeff Zbar of the Sun Sentinel and Roberto Santiago of the Miami Herald gave the keynote speech.

Other winners included Arlene Wites of The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, along with students who built the Guinness Book of World Records' largest popcorn structure: Mickey Mouse; Gary Schweikhart from PR-BS, Inc (http://www. pr-bs. net (http://www. pr-bs. net)), for a thriving campaign to drive business to Palm Beach's Colony Hotel by offering evenings of Couture and Culture; and Alesia Russell, Broward County Sheriff's Office, for the Gone in Four Seconds anti-identity theft campaign that was used by law enforcement agencies and citizens groups across the nation and by YouTube Internet videos.

The annual competition is open to all South Florida communications professionals. They give 10-minute presentations on their most creative and successful publicity efforts. Presentations can cover special events, marketing and advertising campaigns, community relations programs or news media publicity campaigns. The audience votes on the winners and awards are presented after lunch.
