Edifecs, Inc., a provider of B2B solutions for transaction-based interoperability, today announced it has launched HIPAA payer companion guide testing on Collabrus™, their transaction testing and certification service for the healthcare industry. Edifecs, through Collabrus (formerly HIPAADesk), has been providing free testing and certification against HIPAA transaction standards since 2001. Testing and certifying for compliance with HIPAA prepares healthcare entities for the exchange of electronic transactions in general and is an important early step in the implementation process. However, testing against HIPAA standards does not necessarily mean an entity is ready to exchange electronic transactions with trading partners.
While HIPAA defines standard data requirements for healthcare transactions, payers might have additional requirements. Payers publish these requirements in companion guides which supplement the HIPAA Implementation Guides. Companion guide testing combines the requirements of HIPAA and those of the payer, allowing members to test for both sets of requirements at the same time.
For a limited time, payers may submit their companion guides to Edifecs to be programmed for testing at no charge to the payer.
For organizations in need of companion guide testing, Collabrus offers a one-stop solution reducing the time it takes to test with a payer and identify errors. The on-demand solution is available online 24x7x365*, making testing payer requirements easier and more convenient. Users may choose to test each payer individually or test against hundreds of payers at one time. Collabrus’ intuitive user interface and clear error reporting provides a powerful tool for users to aid them in achieving payer compliance requirements.
