Spring Tour for Occult Author Taylor Ellwood
This is the travel schedule for author Taylor Ellwood. This travel schedule is for May of 2005.
(PRWEB) April 18, 2005
Our Haven Beltane, French Lick Indiana, April 29-May 2nd Our Haven will be doing it's Beltane festival from April 29 through May Second. Our haven will feature music/ rituals and workshops by Quill Mastercraft and Taylor Ellwood.
The following workshop descriptions are ones that Taylor Ellwood will be presenting:
Evocation through Art, Tarot and Collages
Many people imagine Evocation to be an art done with chalk on the floor and a magician muttering phrases and then commanding some external force to appear and do his/her bidding. In this workshop we take a different approach to evocation, looking at how the medium of art, via collage work, painting, sculpture, etc can be used as an effective method calling forth the entities we wish to work with, without all of the ceremonial pomp attached. Learn how to incorporate evocation into the art you do, so that it becomes an aesthetic expression of the entity as well as a way of defining what the entity will do.
Subversive Reiki
When most people think of Reiki, they think of a form of energetic healing or a new age fluffy feel good healing system. This workshop, while acknowledging the healing power of Reiki, has a different approach to Reiki, one with attitude. Learn how to be a subversive Reiki practitioner, healing the land, putting Reiki into protest activities or simply using Reiki as a form of defense. As with any system of magic, the uses we put our magic are only bound by the limits of our imagination.

7:00pm to??? [Event] Occultus Nocturnum - This month author Taylor Ellwood will join us in the festivities. So if you dare come out on Friday the 13th to Alchemy Arts. Occultus Nocturnum is a Project Mercury Social Networking Event (21 and over - strictly enforced) , welcoming all spiritual paths from the left-hand path to the right hand path, the magician to the pagan, open-minded Christian to the Satanist and all variants in-between. Come and be free to be yourself at Chicago's Premiere occult store. Anything can happen, so bring an open mind as well as the dish. The cost of admission is either a food dish or a bottle of something to share with everyone as it is a potluck event (we are covering the soda, paper plates, silverware and toiletries) . If you do not bring something you will be charged $20 to get in, this is just incentive for you to bring something, if people do not bring stuff then we need to plan for that for the next one and that is where that money will go towards. This is a repeating event happening the second Friday of every month.

12:00pm to 1:00pm - [Class] Near Death Experience by Taylor Ellwood (Cost: $12) Death is fixation and obsession in our culture. In this workshop I will explore that fixation with you, as well as discuss near death rituals and there roles in magical workings, why near death experiences can be useful in magic, and precautions we need to take if we do a near death ritual. (hour to an hour and a half)
1:30pm to 2:30pm - [Class] Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram by Erik Yankee (Cost: $12) This class will take you through the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram.
3:00pm to 4:00pm - [Class] Death, Ancestry, and the Afterlife in Asatru Tradition by Carolyn Reyes (Cost: $12) The presence of death makes us wonder about the meaning of life; in Asatru tradition the meaning of life is a personal rather than universal issue, but we do share certain views about the nature of life and death, the soul and the universe. Wyrd, the soul's journey amid the Nine Worlds, the relationship between the living and the dead and the nature of time will be discussed from the unique perspective of the Germanic neo-pagan.
4:30pm to 5:30pm - [Class] DNA Magic by Taylor Ellwood (Cost: $12)
What is DNA magic? Can we really work with the physiology of our body, and if so how? What risks are there? These questions and more will be answered in this workshop, where I present how I have been working with DNA magic since 1997. Come with an open mind and be prepared to think about your body in a whole different way. You will also learn how to incorporate body fluids, hair, nails into magical workings.
6:00pm to 7:00pm - [Class] Sound Magick: An Exploration of the Use of Acoustics and Resonance in Magickal Practices by Aleris (Cost: $12) This hour long lecture and workshop will explore the use of sound, acoustics, and resonance in various magickal techniques. Presented as an alternative for those who have difficulty with visualization, this lecture/workshop will make use of various sounds, music, and vocal techniques to enhance your ritual and magickal practices. Some former magickal training is helpful, but not necessary. All are welcomed.

Sunday, May 15, 2005 11:00 am - 3:00 pm - [Class] Space/Time Workshop by Taylor Ellwood (Cost: $30, this class has a discount of $5 per class of Taylors you take on the 14th. AKA If you took 1 of Taylors classes on the 14th it would only cost you $25 for this on, if you took both then it would only cost $20)
Some of the topics that may be covered in this class are as follows:
Space/Time Tarot
When most people work with Tarot they think of the cards as answering a specific question or depicting a specific future event. This workshop will give you a different perspective on tarot cards, which is using Tarot as a tool to do pathworking, a form of meditation where you will interact with the symbols of the cards. I will also show you how you can do evocations with tarots cards and manifest specific probabilities into reality through the reading of the cards. At the same time I'll discuss how Tarot can be used to limit possibilities, and why it's important to know when to use Tarot as a tool. I will show you a spread I have developed for my own readings/pathworkings.
Space/Time Sigil
A sigil is a statement of desire, turned into a symbol, which a person uses to manifest that desire into reality. I will briefly discuss the history and theory of sigils. Then I will present two advanced sigil magick techniques as ways of working with space/time in a non-linear fashion with the purpose being to shape reality to one's will. One technique shows people how to use multiple sigils representing multiple probabilities and how to connect the sigils together so that when one probability (sigil activates) occurs so too will the other probabilities (sigils) activate. The second technique shows people how to use sigils in a web that can strengthen specific possibilities in one's life while cutting other unhealthy possibilities out of one's life.
Space/time Magic Meditation techniques
In this workshop I will discuss some of the space/time magic meditation techniques I've developed as well as discussing the Tesser-act approach by Brian Shaugnessy and my own experimentations with his technique. I will explain the dynamics involved in using these meditation techniques. Then as a group we will try out one of the meditation techniques.
