Integrating Eastern and Western Medicine Can Boost Your Chances of Conception -- Study Shows How Acupuncture Improves In Vitro Fertilization Success

A free live-stream video webinar on how integrating Eastern and Western medicine can boost your chances of conceiving and having a healthy baby: March 22nd 2010, 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm PDT.

Vancouver, Canada (PRWEB) March 18, 2010

Acubalance Wellness Center is delighted to present a free live-stream video webinar on how integrating Eastern and Western medicine can boost your chances of conceiving and having a healthy baby: March 22nd 2010, 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm PDT.

Moderated by Dr Lorne Brown, this webinar will feature acclaimed researchers and fertility specialists Dr. Paul C. Magarelli MD and Diane Cridennda L. Ac.

As co-authors of a landmark study on acupuncture and IVF recently published in the medical journal Fertility and Sterility (Dec 2009, Vol 92 No 6), Magarelli & Cridennda assert that acupuncture research has demonstrated efficacy in improving pregnancy rates, decreasing miscarriages, reducing ectopic pregnancies and increasing the number of take home babies for women undergoing IVF.

"Who would have thought that Eastern medicine would have such a powerful impact on high tech fertility treatments?" asks Magarelli. "This study suggests that the mechanism of its action relates directly to the stress hormones cortisol and prolactin. The data supports a theory that acupuncture 'corrects' for the negative changes in stress hormones and helps bring the body into balance."

While Brown, a doctor of Chinese medicine and founder and clinical director of Acubalance Wellness Centre, is excited about the results of the study, he doesn't want all this attention on acupuncture and IVF to overshadow the fact that Chinese medicine can help women conceive naturally. As well as discussing how acupuncture can work with IVF, the webinar will include tips on natural ways that women can improve their fertility.

"Women experiencing fertility problems often feel like they are out of control and their bodies are letting them down. What we try to do at Acubalance is to give women their lives back--to show them what they can do to make themselves as healthy and fertile as possible--whether they are trying to conceive naturally or with IVF." explains Brown. "We know that stress diverts blood flow from the reproductive organs and puts the body in a flight-or-fright response. These chronically elevated stress hormones can also interfere with ovulation and implantation. Diet, exercise, deep relaxation and Chinese herbal therapy, combined with acupuncture, can help regulate the menstrual cycle, increase blood flow to the reproductive organs and manage chronic stress."

Brown is delighted that new web technology can make it easy for women to access experts like Magarelli and Cridennda. Participants who tune into the webinar will have a chance to ask the speakers questions as well as text chat with each other.

Space is limited to 100 participants, so be sure to join in early. For more information, click here (http://www. acubalance. ca/fertility-event/integrating-eastern-and-western-medicine-building-families).
