Cartfly Welcomes David Watson to the Board of Directors
Noted investor, retail expert and IBM family heir David Watson joins Cartfly's board.
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) April 8, 2008
Cartfly, a merchant's place to sell out, today announced that David Watson, President of Revolution Tea and renowned entrepreneur, has joined its Board of Directors. With extensive knowledge of the e-commerce and retail industry, as well as a pedigree of the IBM "Watson"legacy of management, Mr. Watson will play a key role in shaping Cartfly's business strategy.
"We are thrilled to have David, a visionary and leader in the consumer product and retail industry, join our board of directors. David has been elemental to the success of many companies and we're excited to have access to his talent, insight and experience," said Harlan Lyons, CEO of Cartfly.
Breaking new ground, Cartfly's social commerce network enables merchants, musicians, and fund-raising organizations to turn their storefronts into portable widgets and spread them across blogs, major social networks (MySpace, Facebook, Bebo) or anywhere across the web. Finally, online merchants that have long been tied to eBay, Amazon. com or standard destination sites have an entirely new distribution channel for their merchandise - one that exists completely within the landscape of the social web and on social networks and that is accessible to hundreds of millions of users worldwide.
"Instead of consumers going out onto the web to shop, the shops can now come to them with Cartfly. By opening doors to Facebook and the other social networks, they have created the opportunity to sell to consumers where they are spending more and more of their time online," said David Watson. "I am excited to work with the team to build products and services that can potentially change the way sellers reach buyers online."
Mr. Watson comes to Cartfly after purchasing and revamping Revolution Tea, where he successfully repositioned the company, streamlined its distribution process and grew the retail, restaurant, and hospitality segments. Prior to his time at Revolution Tea, Watson co-founded Philosophy, where he managed sales and operations and established Philosophy as a leading provider of health and wellness skincare products which he then sold for over 500M. Earlier in his career, Watson co-owned BioMedic, a company that developed skin care products to accompany dermatology and plastic surgery treatments. BioMedic was acquired by the L'Oreal Group in May 2001.
