On Monday, April 3, 2006, LauraDion-Jones Casey will be one of four women featured in "First For Women" magazine, available nationwide at all finer bookstores, grocery stores, and drugstores.
The feature story tells the central role spirituality and meditation played in Laura's tremendous 130-pound weight loss success story. By calling upon her higher power's help and making meditation a part of her daily routine, Laura lost 130 pounds in 2 1/2 years and has kept it off for over 18 months. Developing walking into a daily habit and cutting white starch and sugar from her diet were also key components to her tremendous weight loss success.
An avid urban walker averaging 48-55 miles a week, Laura can be seen walking daily around Chicago's Gold Coast, Magnificent Mile, River North and Downtown areas, most of the time with her two little Italian Greyhounds. On many morning walks her husband joins her. In 2005, her third year of daily walking, Laura logged 2361.28 miles.
Her extensive background in the hair and fashion industries led her to become one of the nation's first and top Plus Size designers from
1986-1998. She was also one of the nation's first and top Plus Size
Models from 1980-1988. She has dozens of personal appearance makeovers for women as well as men to her credit.
Laura is now a motivational coach. She is writing a How-To/How I Did It book, Pound by Pound: How To Move, Lose Weight, and Stay Motivated 365 Days a Year For The Rest of Your Life (And look fabulous while doing it). She also speaks and writes motivational articles for an online support group (www. poundbypoundonline. com).
Her ability to communicate crosses a diverse demographic. Younger women and men look up to Laura like a cooler, chicer big sister; older gals and guys identify with her because she's not a youngster and see that her motivational coaching can help them look as healthy as she does.
Everybody Laura meets gains the confidence that they, too, can do what she's done - "Commit To Get Fit."
Obesity and poor health have no prejudice and know no bounds, but society has a prejudice toward overweight people no matter how wealthy, famous or powerful they are. Laura's motivational techniques raise people's awareness of lifestyle choices so that they can take control of their weight, their fitness, their appearance, their self-esteem and their life.
Ms. Dion-Jones Casey looks forward to this national exposure. She hopes readers are encouraged to walk daily, eat healthier and take action to live a longer, happier, more fit life. Advice for achieving your own weight loss success story can be found at her motivational website and at her blog (http://motivation. poundbypoundonline. net (http://motivation. poundbypoundonline. net)).
Bottom line: You gotta wanna, and Laura makes people wanna and then shows them how.
