Analysis of Global Diagnostic Imaging Markets Shows Growth in US, Europe and Japan
New advancement in technology of magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, x-ray and computed tomography technology to drive demand.
Waltham, MA (PRWEB) November 6, 2006
Millennium Research Group (MRG), the global authority on medical technology market intelligence, has completed a thorough analysis of the Japanese diagnostic imaging market, the third installment in a three-report series covering Europe and the US. The study finds that in contrast to Europe and the US, reimbursement allocations will favorably affect the diagnostic imaging market in Japan, smoothing the transition to newer, more powerful technologies, particularly in the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) markets. Despite reimbursement reductions in Europe and the US, however, all three reports find that diagnostic imaging markets will remain profitable globally, as new advancements in MRI, Ultrasound, X-ray, CT and Nuclear Medicine technology drive demand. The newest addition to MRG's series, the Japanese Markets for Diagnostic Imaging Systems 2007 report finds that this market will experience positive growth over the next five years, expanding to over $2.5 billion by 2010.
The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare conducts biennial revisions to the reimbursement prices for medical devices. The most recent adjustment increased government reimbursement for high-end MRI and CT systems, which had previously suffered from limited demand due to high average selling prices. "As a result of this change, medical institutions will be more inclined to purchase newer, more innovative equipment, which is generally more expensive," says David Plow, Senior Analyst from MRG. "This shift will drive market revenues through 2010."
Japanese Markets for Diagnostic Imaging Systems 2007 is the first of three new diagnostic imaging reports by MRG—US Markets for Diagnostic Imaging Systems 2007 and European Markets for Diagnostic Imaging Systems 2007 will both soon be available. This report includes coverage of key industry competitors, including FujiFilm Medical, Toshiba Medical Systems, GE Healthcare, Siemens Medical Solutions, Konica Minolta, Philips Medical Systems, Hitachi Medical Systems, Canon, Shimadzu, Aloka, Agfa Healthcare, Kodak and more.
