AFRICAN-AMERICAN FAMILY TRACES ITS ANCESTRY TO AFRICA, WORKING WITH HUMAN GENOME SCIENTISTS
(PRWEB) April 11, 2000
Upcoming epic book and film for readers and viewers.
The New York Times reporter, Nicholas Wade, has reported on Human Genome research, and he covers the doctors and researchers who are at the forefront. But is anyone covering this story in terms of the little guy and his or her family's DNA?
Human Diversity Genome is developing into a major story. Sunday, April 9 New York Times has a story, "If Biology Is Ancestry, Are These People Related?" by Nicholas Wade, the science writer, that looks at the human side of the story. The story is of Dr. Bryan Sykes, a British geneticist, of Oxford Ancestors, a company which applied for a DNA patent to trace surnames to the original person who had that surname. It shows the vast application of genome research.
Human Genome will have major implications in culture, that is, in people's attitudes and relationships toward each other, not only in science in their health and medicine. Based on the results, this writer has written a book and film about her family's ancestors, who were Maroon rebel freedom fighters who fought for their land and their freedom in the Caribbean and in America. They fought kings, royalty, nobilty, popes, international merchants, merchant adventurers, governors, and pirates.
Our client says, the geneticists of the Human Diversity Genome Research team in the U. S. used the results of her genealogical research into her family's nickanmes to compare their DNA to that of their African ancestors. We believe they are the first African-Americans to trace their African ancestors, thanks to human genome research.
This is an incredible story.
She not only identified her African ancestors, but she also found a European ancestor who was the printer of the first Encyclopaedia Britannica, and of the poetry of Robert Burns. The person is writing a book about the human journey of her ancestors from the Stone Age thousands of years ago to America. Their journey is confirmed by her family's DNA.
