Stratford, CT (PRWEB) January 19, 2004

CyberAlert, Inc., the online media monitoring and press clipping service, today announced the 16 recipients of its public relations grants to not-for-profit organizations in the United States and Canada. The grants are for one free year of online media monitoring service using CyberAlert 4.0. More than 400 not-for-profit organizations applied for the grants during December.

Not-for-Profit PR Grants Valued at $50,000

In announcing the public relations grants program in December, CyberAlert (http://www. cyberalert. com/ (http://www. cyberalert. com/)) promised a minimum of five grants with a retail value over $25,000. The company actually made 15 awards to 16 different organizations. The retail value of the grants exceeds $50,000. One grant is shared by similar organizations with the same media monitoring needs and goals.

CyberAlert also announced that it intends to award the grants annually.

“We were surprised and delighted by the exceptionally positive response of the PR community to the grants program,” said William J. Comcowich, President and CEO of CyberAlert. “Making choices from among so many worthy organizations was difficult indeed.”

Selection Criteria for PR Grants

When CyberAlert first announced the availability of PR grants, the company had not yet developed criteria for selection. After reviewing all grant applications in detail, the following general criteria evolved:

A) organization performs public services for broad constituencies in education, health, environment or social services.

B) organization would benefit from national or international press clipping service

C) organization plans to use the free clipping service for broader purposes than measuring media exposure for the organization itself.

In the end, the selection process favored smaller national and international organizations with innovative services that benefit the young, the poor, the environment and other charitable organizations.

“It was Bill Gates of Microsoft who said ‘Giving away money effectively is almost as hard as earning it in the first place’, stated Comcowich. “After personally reviewing more than 500 grant applications, I agree. All the same, we’re absolutely thrilled that we were able to triple the number of grants and that CyberAlert can effectively help more not-for-profit organizations than we expected. We look forward to continuing the PR grants program for many years and continuing to give back to the PR community that helped us grow and prosper over the past five years.”
