Going for Broke

At a time when everyoneÂ’s making cutbacks, Your Life!, an online magazine for women, keeps adding more. When many womenÂ’s web sites are removing topics from their sites to narrow their focus to just shopping (i. e. advertising), Your Life! continually adds new departments, covering more aspects of womenÂ’s complex lives. While this may not seem like a profitable thing to do, Your Life! is already seeing it pay off.

Mondo Times, the worldwide media guide, covering over 14,900 newspapers, magazines, radio and TV stations and news agencies around the world, has acknowledged the high quality of Your Life! Just recently, Mondo Times added Your Life! to the list of Major WomenÂ’s Lifestyle Media for the US, Canada, and Mexico. Your Life! is the only online magazine in this list, which also includes names like Cosmopolitan, Elle, Lifetime Television, Ladies Home Journal, O, and others.

Creating each issue is labor and research intensive, notes Pamela La Gioia, founder and sole editor of Your Life! But sheÂ’s not looking for any shortcuts.

“I started this online magazine, as a way to communicate with other women,” she says.

Currently, Your Life! topic categories are: Your Auto, Your Beauty, Your Career, Your Child, Your Entertaining, Your Friendships, Your Health, Your Home, Your Maintenance, Your Money, Your Pet, Your Relationship, Your Self, and Your Shopping.

More departments are in the works.

Says La Gioia: “Someone once snidely asked me, ‘How many categories do you think people need?’. Well, he might have a two-dimensional life, but we [women] don’t! In fact, I don’t even know if there is an end to the roles women play, and the concerns we have. Until I find out, there’s nothing stopping me. I’m going for broke!”
