Murad to Sponsor Major Spa Research Initiative for 2010 Global Spa Summit

Murad to Sponsor Major Spa Research Initiative for 2010 Global Spa Summit

Will Provide First In-Depth Analysis of Emerging $1-Trillion-Plus Global Wellness Market, and Opportunities for - and Intersections with – the Spa Industry

New York, NY (PRWEB) January 27, 2010

The Global Spa Summit (http://globalspasummit. com/)(GSS), the premier annual event for executives of the spa and wellness industries, today announced that Murad Inc., a skincare leader and operator of the Murad Inclusive Spa™, will sponsor a key research initiative for the upcoming Summit being held in Istanbul, Turkey from May 17-19, 2010.

Titled Spas and the Global Wellness Market: Synergies & Opportunities, the research is being conducted by SRI (founded as Stanford Research Institute), and is on track to be as groundbreaking as the firm’s Global Spa Economy Report presented at the 2008 Summit in New York City. That research has gone on to become an important industry benchmark, as the first major study to authoritatively quantify and segment the global spa industry.

Research has been one of the hallmarks of the Global Spa Summit since its inception, and 2010 will prove no exception: with top research firms slated to unveil diverse studies impacting the spa and wellness markets. Murad’s support will underwrite new, cutting-edge research analyzing the synergies, and measuring the opportunities, between the spa sector and the wider $1-trillion-plus global wellness market. And the Murad-sponsored research will dovetail with the Global Spa Summit’s broader 2010 theme, “Bridges Worth Building,” i. e., a focus on identifying and capitalizing on the many connections between spas and wellness, health, tourism, fitness, medicine, beauty, architecture - to name a few.

“At Murad we have made it our mission to transform the spa experience into a destination for ageless living,” said Howard Murad, M. D., Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCLA and founder of Murad, Inc. “This can only be accomplished with an emphasis on education whereby we develop programs that help people take charge of their wellness and control their aging process. We believe very strongly in, and support, numerous initiatives that will help bring research and education to this field, thereby benefiting spa practitioners as they learn and embrace the latest findings and pass them along to their clients.”

“We are very proud of the success we’ve been experiencing with our Murad Inclusive Health Spas at each of our locations around the world,” said Tracey Sameyah, President, Murad Inclusive Health. “We’re also very aware that we’ve been able to achieve what we have, in no small part, because of a commitment to research and education. That is why we have also been working to develop university-quality programs – via Murad’s new University of Inclusive Health – that move beyond training for licensure to advanced professional training that elevates the standards of the industry.”

While there have been discussions about the increasing interconnections between ‘spa’ and ‘wellness,’ this new research will represent the first rigorous exploration that clearly defines the expanding global wellness market, how the spa industry ‘fits’ into it, measuring the consumer forces driving this global revolution, and estimating the bottom-line impact wellness-related products/services have on spas today, and their future market potential.

“Murad’s generosity will help ensure that our industry continues to be a key driver and beneficiary of the powerful global wellness trend,” said Pete Ellis, Chairman of the Board of the Global Spa Summit. “This new knowledge will help spa owners and investors attending the Summit to not only position themselves strategically within the vast, evolving wellness market, but evaluate just-emerging opportunities, to make the right decisions.”

The 2010 Summit:

The fourth annual Global Spa Summit will be held at the historic Ç1ragan Palace Kempinski Hotel in Istanbul. Attended by top spa, hospitality, tourism and wellness executives from around the world, 2010’s invitation-only Summit is expected to attract a record number of delegates, representing 40 different countries.

GSS is the only global industry event where leaders in spa and related industries gather in a think-tank-like environment to exchange ideas, collaborate, and strategize. The annual conference has become known for its wide range of prestigious speakers, industry panels, and collaborative meetings, as well as for unveiling the industry's most comprehensive research.
