Nursing2007 (http://www. lww. com/product/?0360-4039 (http://www. lww. com/product/?0360-4039)) was named "Publication of the Year" in the Magazine Division by the American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors (ASPHE) when the 2007 awards were announced this month. Nursing2007 (http://www. lww. com/product/?0360-4039 (http://www. lww. com/product/?0360-4039)) is a peer-reviewed professional journal published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, part of Wolters Kluwer Health.

"Publication of the Year" is ASHPE's premier award given to a publication that demonstrates continuity of overall excellence in staff involvement, editorial content, graphics presentation, goal attainment and service to the reader.

"Nursing2007's substantial contribution to the body of knowledge is paired with a focus on improving the nursing practice and performance," said Nancy E. Blanchard, ASHPE Managing Director, citing one of the judge's comments. "The content is directly applicable to nurses and adds the valuable extra ingredient - the 'how-to' factor."

The journal also received a Silver "Best Feature Article Series" Award for a collection of best-practice articles done in collaboration with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI). The series examines the IHI's suggested "100,000 Lives Campaign" interventions from a staff nurse's perspective. Each article in the series focused on one of six key strategies that have been proven to prevent avoidable deaths. Another IHI series centered on their new "5 Million Lives Campaign" is planned for the August - December 2007 issues of the journal.

"Our goal is to provide important peer-reviewed, evidence-based information in a reader-friendly format to help nurses deliver the best patient care," says Cheryl L. Mee, RN, BC, CMSRN, MSN, Editor-in-Chief of the journal, "Collaborating with organizations such as IHI, as well as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) help us provide the highest standard of clinical content." The FDA has created multiple videos based on Nursing2007 content, all available at Nursing2007.com (http://www. Nursing2007.com (http://www. Nursing2007.com) - Click Resources and Surveys).
