Executive Physicals Will Now Incorporate Executive Coaching as Part of Health and Wellness Program

Executive Medicine of Southlake and faculty from the Executive Coaching Program at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) School of Management are now working together to bring balance to the lives of executives. Patients who are seen for executive physicals will now be given an assessment by an executive coach and referred to a coach that is a good match for their individual needs.

Southlake, TX (PRWEB) June 30, 2005

Executive Medicine of Southlake, founded by Walter Gaman, MD, FABFM, FCFP and James Mark Anderson, MD, DABFM, is a full-service health and wellness center in which executives and their spouses can obtain their comprehensive physical exam. The exams include a wide range of testing such as thallium stress testing, full body scan, virtual colonoscopy, laboratory testing, fitness and wellness assessments, and now an executive coach assessment.

Co-author of "Executive Medicine: Optimizing Your Chances for a Longer Life," Dr. Gaman states, "During the course of writing our book we researched executive health needs that go beyond what we do in the office. It became clear that executive coaching is a valuable tool in bringing balance to the highly stressful lives of executives. In response, we sought out the best of the best for our patients."

Executive Medicine of Southlake has selected faculty from the University of Texas at Dallas graduate program for Executive and Professional Coaching as a basis for referral. Founded in 2004 as part of Executive Education at The UTD School of Management, the UTD Executive and Professional Coaching Program is directed by Dr. Robert Hicks.

Dr. Hicks, an organizational psychologist, emphasizes the importance of the connection between a person's physical health and their professional well being. "We've learned that professional well being and physical well being go hand in hand and profoundly affect an executive's work performance and efficiency. For this reason, professional coaching is a natural extension of executive medicine," he says.

"Each coach that has been added to our referral basis has come by high recommendation of their peers and has passed a comprehensive interview with the members of our medical team. We are pleased to announce our alliance with UTD and are positive that the expertise of these individuals will enrich the lives of our patients," reports Dr. Anderson.

Executive coaching, which first became popular in the 1990s, is being utilized by many companies and organizations. The benefits of coaching include increased productivity and reduced stress. "We are excited to see leaders in preventative health embracing our role in the emotional and life balance of their patients. This alliance is sure to be successful because of the strength of the high-level collaboration from multiple professional disciplines," states Judith Feld, a Master Certified Coach (International Coach Federation) and a program manager with the Executive and Professional Coaching Program at UTD.

Associate Dean for Executive Education at UTD Dr. David Springate agrees with Ms. Feld, adding, "The coaching program has given us additional opportunities to help individuals and corporations in our area. We look forward to working together with Executive Medicine of Southlake and their patients."

Executive Medicine of Southlake is dedicated to the health and wellness of its patients and celebrates in the successes of each individual. "Being a patient at Executive Medicine of Southlake, is like having a medical team rally around you and give you individualized five-star service. Now, we have taken that service to an even higher level," explains Amber Morgan, Certified Medical Office Manager of Executive Medicine.
