PARENTS LEARN TO COMMUNICATE WITH PRE-VERBAL INFANTS

Dublin seminar introduces U. S. program to Ireland: Teaching sign language to hearing babies.

Kinsale, Ireland – Amanda is only 10 months old yet she can tell her parents when she is hungry, thirsty, or has a stomachache. How can she communicate at such an early age? Because her parents took things into their own hands – quite literally – and taught their hearing daughter sign language.

Since the early 1990Â’s, the number of parents in the United States who have learned to communicate with pre-verbal infants through sign language has skyrocketed. Interest has also spread throughout the U. K. and to other parts of the globe. Now, for the first time, parents in Ireland can also learn this innovative technique.

According to Diane Ryan, an American speech and language therapist now living in Kinsale, early communication is only one of the benefits that “baby signing” offers.

Baby Sign Language 2/3

“Research has shown us that babies who sign are less frustrated since they have a way of expressing their wants and needs. But even more remarkably, studies have proven that babies who are taught a few simple signs not only speak earlier than non-signers but have larger vocabularies and become better readers. It has to do with stimulating more synapses of the brain,” she said. “Signing babies have IQ’s that are 10-12 points higher.”

“Teaching a hearing baby to sign is a simple and natural process,” she added. “Signing is an extension of natural baby gestures. Parents only need to learn a few simple signs for babies to benefit.” For her Ireland “debut” Ryan has revised her American program to include authentic Irish sign language.

Ryan, whose speech therapy practice (KinderSigns) focuses solely on “baby signing,” has conducted numerous workshops and seminars for parents, educators and healthcare professionals throughout the state of Florida. In addition to serving as a guest lecturer at parenting and early childhood development conferences, she has also conducted in-service training for childcare professionals. Prior to moving to Kinsale from Orlando, Florida in September, she developed a website which offers extensive information on the topic along with supporting research. Online lessons for parents and childcare professionals are also available.

Baby Sign Language 3/3

“Since I moved to Kinsale I have received a number of inquiries from Irish parents who discovered baby signing through my website and wanted to learn more. It motivated me to personally introduce the idea in this country.” Ryan said.

Ryan will offer two free informational seminars on the topic at Gymboree in the Stillorgan Plaza in Stillorgan at the end of the month. For those who wish to learn the actual baby signing technique, a how-to workshop will also be presented. Parents can learn all they need to know to sign with their baby in one session. The cost is €25 for a single parent or individual or €35 for both parents.

Ryan plans to offer additional seminars in Cork and in other major cities in Ireland throughout the year. Parent and professional groups interested in hosting a free seminar are encouraged to contact her at 021-4777466 or at dianeryan@kindersigns. com. Springboard Research Finds a Massive Chasm in Public Sector IT Spending Per Capita in Asia

Springboard Research Finds a Massive Chasm in Public Sector IT Spending Per Capita in Asia

Springboard Research, a leading innovator in the IT Market Research industry, today released a study showing that while Information Technology spending in the Public Sector is growing strongly across Asia, there is still a wide gulf between the more mature and emerging countries in the region. Springboard found that countries such as New Zealand and Australia are spending close to US$200 per capita on IT in the Public Sector, while countries such as India and Indonesia are spending as little as US$1 per capita.

Singapore (PRWEB) July 26, 2006

Springboard Research, a leading innovator in the IT Market Research industry, today released a study showing that while Information Technology spending in the Public Sector is growing strongly across Asia, there is still a wide gulf between the more mature and emerging countries in the region. Springboard found that countries such as New Zealand and Australia are spending close to US$200 per capita on IT in the Public Sector, while countries such as India and Indonesia are spending as little as US$1 per capita.

Per Capita Public Sector IT Spending (US$)

New Zealand -- $198.78

Australia -- $193.82

Singapore -- $152.89

Hong Kong -- $67.22

Korea -- $52.96

Taiwan -- $45.22

Malaysia -- $21.92

Thailand -- $7.41

China -- $3.67

Philippines -- $2.94

India -- $1.29

Indonesia -- $1.10

“The degree of difference in IT spending per capita in the Public Sector across the region is staggering,” commented Dane Anderson, Research Vice President at Springboard Research. “While we have seen significant growth in technology spending in the Public Sector, in many of the developing countries the level of spending is still at extremely low levels on a per-capita basis.”

Springboard estimates that 2005 IT expenditure in the Public Sector in Asia (excluding Japan) was US$17.3 Billion and the market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.5% with Public Sector IT spending being close to US$25 billion by 2009. The largest sub-vertical within the Public Sector was the Security & Defence segment, consisting of Defence, Intelligence, Border Control/Immigration, and Public Safety. This sub-vertical accounted for close to 22% of the Public Sector IT spending across the region.

Jonathan Silber, Senior Market Analyst -- Public Sector for Springboard Research, added, “We observed that three key tiers exist in per-capita IT Spending in the Asian Public Sector, with the top two tiers forecasted to post relatively stable growth rates between 4-5%. Surprisingly, we expect the top tier countries like New Zealand, Australia, and Singapore to grow slightly faster than the tier two countries like Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Korea -- but we anticipate the highest growth will come from the developing countries like India, China, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand and will post annual growth rates between 11-19%.”

Springboard expects the fastest growing countries to be the emerging twin towers of the region - India and China, with India’s Public Sector IT expenditure to grow at a CAGR of 19.6% and China’s growth to be 14.6%.

Implementing Surveys to Measure and Define Customer Service

Implementing Surveys to Measure and Define Customer Service

A customer satisfaction survey can be quantitative, qualitative and it can also be a simple perspective of how your clients ‘feel’ about your service. Businesses that are not willing to yield to customer feedback cannot adapt or respond.

North Olmsted, OH (PRWEB) April 4, 2006

What separates a good company from an exceptional one has much to do with how you answer the question, “Do you know what your customers want?” The only way to know with any certainty is by asking.

Excellent customer service is ultimately defined by the perception of the client. Businesses that are not willing to yield to customer feedback cannot adapt or respond. A savvy customer will begin looking for alternative choices.

Thomas Friedman, author of the best selling book, ‘The World is Flat’ affirms that anything that can be digitized can be outsourced. The one thing that cannot be outsourced is the personal touch of customer service. Surviving the new world economic structure requires an intentional focus on customer service.

A survey process professionally implemented builds stronger customer relationships as it invites your clients to help you understand your strengths and weaknesses. Hiring a third party shows your customers you are serious about your commitment to seek their input.

Contract with an independent survey company experienced in surveying the same industry that your business represents. Surveys vary in the end objective and the data acquired is useless unless properly interpreted.

A customer satisfaction survey can be quantitative, qualitative and it can also be a simple perspective of how your clients ‘feel’ about your service. Some survey services offer detailed comparative reports relative to a specific industry.

For instance, Survey Design and Analysis (SDA) offers full-service survey design and analysis from hourly consulting to complete execution of customer satisfaction surveys, customer service surveys, market surveys, and employee surveys. See http://www. survey-design-and-analysis. com (http://www. survey-design-and-analysis. com)

A business serving senior citizens (as an example) may elect a customer-satisfaction survey that leads to Certification as a Senior Approved Service. This particular survey company is not for every health or elder care business as there are pre-requisites. See http://www. qualityeldercare. com/request-certification. html (http://www. qualityeldercare. com/request-certification. html)

Bottom line: Excellent customer service can be defined and measured through the feedback received through a survey. It provides a road map of clear direction for implementing changes.

Honoring the advice of your customers will put you in front of your competition. Within a short period of time, you will own your competitors clients in addition to your own loyal customer base.

SEO Study: How Health Care Companies Handle Natural Search Engine Optimization

SEO Study: How Health Care Companies Handle Natural Search Engine Optimization

New study will show how well or how poorly 350 U. S. health care companies use natural search engine optimization (SEO).

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) August 7, 2005

A new study of 350 health care companies will indicate whether they make good use of basic natural search engine optimization (SEO) techniques to get more traffic.

Prepared by Cleveland, Ohio-based Fathom SEO (http://www. fathomseo. com (http://www. fathomseo. com)), it will cover such SEO topics as web site page titles and META descriptions, site architecture barriers and visible text. The study will be released August 22.

A similar report released by Fathom SEO in June found that 75% of U. S. manufacturers donÂ’t appear to use effective keywords in the home page title tag, which heavily influences how well a web site will rank on search engines. More than 80% donÂ’t use a suitable title on primary interior pages, such as the about or product summary pages.

“It doesn’t make sense for many companies to ignore SEO,” said Michael Murray, vice president of Fathom SEO. “If a business sells in the U. S., or globally, competitive pressures alone should make it obvious that effective search engine optimization is vital. In some cases, SEO techniques can help regional or local businesses.”

Online searches arenÂ’t limited to celebrities, news and sports, Murray said. Plenty of business owners hunt for everything from medical devices to health care consultants.

The Advanced Laser Clinics of South Bay provide clients with several laser procedures and skin rejuvenation treatments, some of which include: Laser Hair Removal, Light Pulse Skin Removal, Microdermabrasion and the Obagi Nu-Derm System.

LightPulse Skin Renewal is a combination therapy that corrects (and may actually reverse) a wide variety of skin conditions and facial imperfections, particularly the signs of aging. Unlike laser procedures that treat small areas, this thoroughly tested therapy provides long-term improvement to both the complexion and texture of an entire area of skin. It brings together the proven benefits of Microdermabrasion, Photorejuvenation (IPL) and a regimen of Skin Care products. The end result is more natural, youthful skin.

The Obagi Nu-Derm System, a physician-prescribed skin care system, accelerates the skinÂ’s cellular turnover. This system penetrates below the skin's surface to correct damage in all layers of the skin (the stratum corneum, the epidermis and the dermis). It corrects functions of the skin at the cellular level, and transforms the skin's cellular function in order to help it look and act younger and healthier.

By utilizing tools such as FDA-approved equipment, unique service guarantees in writing and trained and certified technicians, the Advanced Laser Clinics have been able to successfully provide permanent cosmetic and Microdermabrasion procedures as well as advanced laser hair removal and massage services to their clients. Now, potential patients in the Las Vegas area will be able to have their skin rejuvenation and unwanted hair problems treated successfully.

CareOne Helps Tackle Holiday Debt Problems Holiday Debt Can Make Any Consumer Feel Like a Grinch

CareOne Helps Tackle Holiday Debt Problems Holiday Debt Can Make Any Consumer Feel Like a Grinch

Americans are officially in shop till they drop mode, with the National Retail Federation predicting holiday spending to reach $457.4 billion this year. The increase of 5 percent in holiday spending will likely mean that by Jan. 1 Americans will face the traditional stack of bills and depleted bank accounts causing an increase in the expected number of U. S. consumers to pursue debt relief in 2007.

COLUMBIA, Maryland (PRWEB) December 18, 2006

The holiday shopping season is in the home stretch, and the topic of consumer debt has not only come into focus in millions of American homes, it has also made a splash on the big screen.

The documentary "In Debt We Trust: America Before the Bubble Bursts," has painted a bleak picture of consumer debt in the United States, portraying the nation's citizens as victims of credit card companies and lenders, and in desperate need of a financial education.

Education is the key, and companies that teach consumers to be financially savvy like the CareOne Credit Counseling agencies (careonecredit. com) have seen their business increase sharply, with more than 400,000 Americans making inquiries in the month of October. And when the holiday season ends, it's likely many more will need the guidance provided by CareOne agencies.

"Consumers could save themselves a lot of money if they just took some time to organize before the holiday shopping season swings into gear," said CareOne spokeswoman Clarky Davis. "Making some simple changes on how and when you shop can really make a difference in sticking to your holiday budget."

A sound budget during the holiday season and throughout the year seems to be lacking for many Americans. It's estimated that American consumers owe $2.17 trillion in debt on mortgages, auto loans and credit cards, according to the most recent statistics from the Federal Reserve. The film suggests possible government action to help regulate the problem, but ultimately sends the message that debt is the responsibility of the affected consumer, who should seek out the help of agencies offering the CareOne debt management (http://www. careonecredit. com) service, especially during the holidays.

"Many consumers relax the rules on holiday spending, said Davis. "But they forget that it can take months to pay off credit card bills."

And the credit card companies are not in business of making credit less tempting. More than six billion credit cards offers were mailed in 2005, an average of six per household, according to government statistics. The industry also took in $43 billion in fee income from late payments, over-limit fees and balance transfer fees in 2004, up from $39 billion in 2003.

Consumers can fight back, however, with a sound strategy to effectively manage holiday spending, and change year-long habits as well. A five-point plan from CareOne agencies includes, creating a budget; creating a gift list by recipient; sticking to a two card-limit; taking yourself off the shopping list; and using inexpensive shipping. Following the advice of CareOne credit counseling agencies that provide debt consolidation (http://www. careonecredit. com) services will lead to happier and financially healthier holidays to come.

"The better you plan, the less you'll spend," said Davis. "People usually get into financial trouble when they spend without considering the consequences. CareOne agencies help consumers change their way of thinking, and during the holiday season, it pays to be a smart shopper and a smart spender."

Cairns City Council could be losing over $1 million every year in hidden health costs

Cairns City Council could be losing over $1 million every year in hidden health costs.

Cairns based health consultant and corporate speaker Andrew Cavanagh says a large organization like the Cairns City Council could be losing over $1 million dollars every year in lost productivity due to health problems in its workforce.

(PRWEB) June 2, 2004

Cairns based health consultant and corporate speaker Andrew Cavanagh says a large organization like the Cairns City Council could be losing over $1 million dollars every year in lost productivity due to health problems in its workforce.

“A progressive local government like the Cairns City Council could reverse a reasonable percentage of this cost by simply introducing basic diet and lifestyle education in the workforce.”

Andrew Cavanagh is a health writer, member of the Australasian Medical Writers Association and author of the groundbreaking book “From depression to glorious health in six steps” and “One hour to glorious health and permanent weight loss.”

“Depression costs business more than any other single disease,” said Mr Cavanagh. “Depression is followed closely by sleep problems and accidents due to sleep deprivation, viruses like the common cold and influenza, and complications caused by problems with excess body fat and obesity.”

“Poor health in the workforce costs business around $1,500 per employee every year.

“Put another way for every 30 employees on a company’s payroll there is an extra, uninvited employee drawing a full wage called ‘poor health.’

“This employee does nothing but bring misery and suffering to the workforce, dragging down morale and reducing profits.

“Even though it is progressive and forward thinking, the Cairns City Council with its 852 employees is losing approximately $1,278,000 lost every year due to poor health in its workforce.

“This is a very conservative estimate. In reality the cost in lost productivity for an organization of this size could be over $3,500,000 every year.”

Fortunately there are solutions at least in part to this problem.

The greatest key according to Mr Cavanagh is implementing education on excellent diet and lifestyle choices.

Andrew Cavanagh is an expert on diet and lifestyle protocols to reverse disease authoring the first book of its kind on a diet and lifestyle protocol to reverse depression.

Much of Mr Cavanagh’s writing is available free of charge including the free 18 part health course “Reversing all chronic disease”, the free books “From depression to glorious health in six steps” and “One hour to glorious health and permanent weight loss.” www. glorioushealth. cjb. net

These free resources can be accessed at Andrew CavanaghÂ’s website www. glorioushealth. cjb. net

Voluntary health programs and education are perceived as a caring gesture from management and can even be used to create excellent public relations.

Some organizations sponsor a health speaker and make the event available to their staff and the general public significantly improving their perceived image in the community.

This is a win-win idea. The reduction of health costs in the organization pays for the health speaker many times over and the local community is grateful to the council for supplying the accurate health information so desperately needed.

Organizations interested in learning more about turning their huge hidden health costs into huge healthy profits can access the free report “Healthy people make healthy profits” at www. healthypeople. cjb. net

New Poll Reveals TeeBeeDee, a Boomer Social Network, is a Successful Alternative to Online Dating Sites

New Poll Reveals TeeBeeDee, a Boomer Social Network, is a Successful Alternative to Online Dating Sites

Online Boomer Social Network, TeeBeeDee, has found a winning formula for connecting people who are over 40 -- encouraging new friendships and easing the newly single back into dating.

San Francisco, Calif. (PRWEB) March 18, 2009

TeeBeeDee (www. tbd. com), a social network for adults 40+ who believe life is still to be determined, offers insights and advice directly from TeeBeeDee members. At TeeBeeDee, Boomers come together to share and discuss their passions across a wide variety of interests such as pets, cooking, travel, family, love, and romance. Although TeeBeeDee is not a dating site, it has become a successful alternative for Boomers looking to find romance. The network's winning formula for connecting people over 40 includes: An easy-to-use, FREE Members page, which helps Boomers discover new friends who live nearby or have similar interests. Members can also mingle with new people through engaging discussions and interest groups. TeeBeeDee is part of the hot online trend of "people discovery" or "social discovery" -- networks for meeting new people, in contrast to networks that strengthen existing connections.

"TBD is more like a neighborhood barbecue -- it's not a singles bar," says CEO and founder Robin Wolaner. Unlike traditional dating sites, TeeBeeDee offers the opportunity for newly single folks to test the waters before diving into online dating. Many people over 40 still feel embarrassed or shy about online dating, but this community includes married couples, newly divorced or widowed members, and people who are simply looking for a good conversation. Romance can happen serendipitously, or you can use our tools to find a match. "We didn't build TeeBeeDee to be a dating site, but we always knew that if we gave people an easy way to find meaningful friendships and really communicate, romance could happen," says Wolaner.

Most recently, TeeBeeDee asked their members if they had found love on the site and over 16% responded "yes." In addition, TeeBeeDee members launched their own discussions on the site to tell the success stories of members finding new love:

"Chance and curiosity brought me here. Little did I know back in September of '08 that my life would be forever changed because of TBD. Not just because of the love found here, but because of my new friends who have blessed my life."

"I joined TBD at the time when I was not even thinking of dating. That time was continuation of the most difficult time of my life - loss of my husband. These people were a great support for me, because they went thru the same experience and did understand the situation. Little by little I came to the idea that I wanted to start dating again."

"Neither of us expected to date anyone from TBD. We just wanted the interaction with other adults... now we're getting married. I call that a success story after being alone for 20 years and wondering if that was in store for me anymore. It can happen..."

"Make Money Work From Home": Scary Scam or Real Riches?

"Make Money Work From Home": Scary Scam or Real Riches?

With so many hundreds of websites telling you how to Make Money Work at Home, how do you know what's a nasty scam, what's just plain useless, and what information will actually let you Make Money Work at Home?

(PRWEB) October 23, 2005

The Internet has become seemingly universal. Yet although it is "everywhere", in tangible terms for most users it is just a display on a screen.

Traditional con artists and scamsters made a good living by duping people in person, and on the Internet, where everything must be interpreted from a small screen display, it is even easier for them to prey on the unwary - especially those who are naive about how easily the new technology can be used to deceive.

"Get Rich Quick" schemes have had a suitably bad press for long enough that most people ought to know better, but the hope of easy, instant wealth from the comfort of home still leads many into the hands of the unethical and downright criminal.

Given all the sharp practices around, is it even possible to "Make Money Work From Home"? Yes, definitely! However, it's typically not nearly as quick as some might hope. Hope, of course, is what drives the desperate to the conmen, only to find they've been provided with "information" that is too vague to act upon; and very often available for free if one is willing to spend time searching the Internet further.

People are already buying self-help personal improvement information from many online sources, with the promise of better health, happiness, relationships, confidence and improvements in all areas of their personal lives, but it is when the prospect of increased income is presented, that they become willing to spend a whole lot more.

Of course this creates a golden opportunity for anyone who can offer a slight chance of making easy money, but usually it is only the "information provider" that makes the money. Some do quite well out of it.

Online information access is transforming the lives of millions of people. There is no doubt that fresh information is a powerful resource for self improvement. "Make Money Work From Home" is quite assuredly realistic IF the minefield of tricksters can be bypassed, the information is sufficiently comprehensible to be acted upon appropriately, detailed enough to provide a step by step blueprint for success, and not so padded with generic business advice as to hide the really usable material.

Internet millionaires DO exist, and their "secrets" are out there, if you know how and where to look.

Life Help Center has Information for Better Living - including trustworthy resources that really will show you how to Make Money Work at Home - an expanding list of books, free articles, third party reviews and links to endorsed information providers in this field.

Carnival Cruise Lines Joins with Marcia Gay Harden and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to Encourage Children to Dream Big

Academy Award® and Tony Award®-winning actress and mother named godmother of Carnival Dream and will unveil world’s largest children’s book in New York City; Carnival announces multi-year partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

New York, NY (PRWEB) November 6, 2009 -–

In celebration of the launch of its newest, largest and most family-friendly “Fun Ship” ever, http://www. Carnival. com (http://www. Carnival. com) Carnival Cruise Lines (http://www. Carnival. com) announces that Academy Award-winning actress Marcia Gay Harden will serve as godmother of the new Carnival Dream (http://www. Carnival. com/dream) and will unveil the world’s largest children’s book in New York City today, along with a major, multi-year partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

New Yorker and mother of three, Harden will officially name the new ship when it makes its North American debut in New York on November 12, 2009. In honor of Carnival Dream’s much-anticipated arrival, the Tony Award-winning actress will unveil Carnival’s Big Book of Dreams – measuring 15.5 feet high by 20 feet wide – in New York City’s Rockefeller Center today and will conduct a special reading of the larger-than-life story to dozens of schoolchildren. Inspired by the imaginative dreams of children who sailed on Carnival Cruise Lines this spring, “The Dream Plucker of Perrysport” tells the tale of a group of young friends who find themselves on a unique adventure after they encounter a furry orange monster in a quest to remember their dreams. The book will remain on display at Rockefeller Center November 6 and 7 as part of a series of free, activity-filled Carnival “Dream Big” events for the whole family.

“As a mother and actress driven by the idea of dreaming big, I’m honored to take on this new role as godmother of Carnival’s largest-ever ship and to help bring the Big Book of Dreams to life for local children,” said Marcia Gay Harden. “I’m also inspired by Carnival’s dedication to support and encourage all kids to dream big through its partnership with St. Jude.”

During the three-year partnership with St. Jude, Carnival Cruise Lines’ goal is to raise $3 million to help achieve the hospital’s mission of finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic illnesses. To support the hospital, under the theme “Care to Play,” Carnival is creating a number of fun, interactive on-board fundraising activities that will involve guest participation. Carnival will also donate hundreds of kid-sized copies of “The Dream Plucker of Perrysport” to the hospital.

“We’re excited to have a dream-worthy lineup of activities to celebrate the launch of the Carnival Dream, including the talented Marcia Gay Harden as godmother, and to bring kid’s dreams to life in the biggest children’s book ever,” said Carnival President and CEO Gerry Cahill. “We are also very proud and honored to work with St. Jude to further support its wonderful work and inspire the children and families of St. Jude to never lose sight of their dreams.”

"We are so fortunate to work with compassionate companies like Carnival,” said Richard C. Shadyac Jr., Chief Executive Officer of ALSAC, the fundraising organization of St. Jude. “Every dollar donated by Carnival and its guests through the Care to Play fundraising activities will help St. Jude continue its efforts in finding the cures and providing the treatments that will save children's lives. On behalf of everyone at St. Jude, thank you."

Medflow EMR 7.1 Receives 08 Pre-market Conditional CCHIT Certification

Medflow EMR 7.1 Receives 08 Pre-market Conditional CCHIT Certification

The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT®) today announced that Medflow's product Medflow EMR 7.1 is a pre-market, conditionally CCHIT Certified® 08 Ambulatory EHR and meets the Certification Commission's electronic health record (EHR) criteria for office-based use. Ambulatory EHRs are designed for physician offices and clinics where most Americans get their healthcare. The Commission - a private, nonprofit organization - is the Recognized Certification Body in the United States for certifying health information technology products.

Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) May 31, 2009

The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT®) today announced that Medflow's product Medflow EMR 7.1 is a pre-market, conditionally CCHIT Certified® 08 Ambulatory EHR and meets the Certification Commission's electronic health record (EHR) criteria for office-based use. Ambulatory EHRs are designed for physician offices and clinics where most Americans get their healthcare. The Commission - a private, nonprofit organization - is the Recognized Certification Body in the United States for certifying health information technology products.

Two key new areas of interoperability are required to achieve 08 certification, said Mark Leavitt, M. D., Ph. D., chair, CCHIT. "First, ambulatory EHRs must be capable of advanced electronic prescribing functions so physicians can qualify for bonuses under Medicare's new incentive program. Second, EHRs must be able to send and receive an electronic patient summary. These and other new criteria will ensure that certified health IT products help improve quality, safety and efficiency while protecting the privacy of health information. In the third year of the program's operation, the criteria and testing have been significantly updated again to provide physicians with more assurance that certified products will meet their needs for functionality, interoperability and security.

The Commission added 19 criteria to the 200 required in 2007. Those changes were focused on the ability to exchange patient information with other systems. A CCHIT Certified 08 Ambulatory EHR ensures:
Additional electronic prescribing features: access to the patient's medication history, formulary, and eligibility.  Better and safer medication dosing, adjusted for patient weight and other factors.  Better ability to prevent adverse reactions due to drug interactions or allergies.  Use of standard formats to exchange basic patient information for continuity of care.  Enhanced ability to view X-rays and other diagnostic images.  Better management of patient consents and authorizations.  Increased use of standard formats when receiving and storing laboratory results.

As a CCHIT Certified product, Medflow EMR 7.1 has been tested and passed inspection of 100 percent of these new criteria.

Jim Riggi, President and CEO, said, "Medflow has always been the industry leader in the delivery of EHR solutions to eye care professionals. Our first priority is to develop products that improve the quality of care our users provide to their patients." "Medflow has a long history of promoting industry standards that protect the patient and improve care. We see CCHIT certification as an essential benchmark that should be used by clinical professionals to evaluate the quality of the software they use. We are proud to be a CCHIT certified EHR, Jim adds."

The CCHIT Certified ―seal of approval for EHR products provides a consensus-based, government-recognized benchmark for ambulatory EHR products. By looking to products with the CCHIT Certified seal, physicians and other providers can reduce their risk in selecting an EHR product, allowing them to focus their evaluation on the special needs of their practices.

Summer Lovin' for Your Lawn

Summer Lovin' for Your Lawn

Spring-green lawn care offers tips to keep landscapes lush as temperatures climb.

Plainfield, IL (PRWEB) May 29, 2009

Ever wonder how your neighbors achieve thick, vibrant lawns year after year or how they keep their lawns and landscapes healthy as temperatures continue to rise throughout the summer months? The answer is simple: They work at it!

"This is the time of year people are enjoying their outdoor spaces the most so it's necessary these areas are in tip-top shape," says Harold Enger, Certified Turfgrass Professional and Certified Ornamental Landscape Professional. "Keeping lawns healthy now will also make preparation for the cooler weather much easier when the time comes." Here are some tips from Enger to keep lawns and trees looking their best from the beginning of the summer to the end.

1. Address Pests: One single insect can lay thousands of eggs, ensuring a continual attack on your lawn and landscape but if you know where to look for these pests, their impact can be minimal. For your landscape plants, Enger says to start by looking at the leaves or needles and keeping an eye out for chew marks, feeding trails or curled leaves, as all can be indicators of insect activity. Insects that bore into the trunk or develop in the tips of pine trees, however, can be harder to locate. If you see a D-shaped hole in the trunk of a tree, that is an indication of a flat-head borer like the Emerald Ash Borer, which is responsible for killing tens of thousands of Ash trees in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois and putting many other states at risk for sporadic outbreaks. Enger says to contact a lawn care professional or county extension office immediately if your Ash is beginning to die at the top, as it could be an indication of Emerald Ash Borer infestation. As for lawns, most surface-feeding insects will hide in the thatch layer during the day so you need to look for signs of their activity versus the actual insects. The most obvious sign of surface-feeding insects is turf that is thinning or losing color. If you notice pencil-sized holes, it's possible your lawn has Sod Webworm. Enger says lawn care service (http://www. spring-green. com/services. aspx? source=summer0509) professionals like those at Spring-Green Lawn Care are trained to inspect and treat lawns for insect damage.

2. Beware the Brown Patch: While Brown Patch can occur with any turf type, Tall Fescue lawns are extremely susceptible to the deadly disease, which is often mistaken for heat or drought stress but it is quite different. Warning signs include extended periods of hot, humid weather; infected turf areas taking on a purple-green cast; irregular, watersoaked and sometimes brown-rimmed spots on leaves; and areas that look 'drought-stressed' or 'under-watered'. St. Augustine Grass lawns can also be susceptible to Brown Patch in the fall in the deep south. Since Brown Patch is a soil-borne disease, it will most likely keep coming back but to minimize risk and susceptibility, Enger says to water only in the early morning hours and never at night, cut your lawn three inches high to ensure no more than 1/3 of the grass blade is removed and never apply fertilizer to the affected areas.

3. Watch Your Water: When Mother Nature doesn't supply enough rainfall, supplemental watering is integral to maintaining a healthy lawn but Enger says to remember too much water can be wasteful and even detrimental to the lawn's lifespan and too little water can lead to turf that's more susceptible to disease, insect and weed infestations. A well-maintained lawn needs one inch of water per week to stay green and growing so instead of setting your automatic sprinkler system so come up every day to water each zone for 10 minutes, set the system to run only every three to four days for a longer time per zone -- a practice which prevents roots from growing closer to the surface. Enger says you can also use hoses and a pulsating portable sprinkler, leaving it in one position for 30 to 60 minutes before moving it to another location. Early morning watering is best, as watering in the evening can increase the likelihood of disease development because the lawn will remain cool, dark and moist for an extended period of time. If you are unable to water due to watering restrictions, your lawn will go dormant, the turf's natural defense mechanism in which it will shut down all non-essential parts, like top growth, to keep the crown alive. Turf is a remarkable plant and most varieties can survive for four weeks or more without irrigation of any type, says Enger; if the drought is severe enough, some lawn renovation may be necessary once it starts to rain or you are able to water again.

4. Mow, Mow, Mow Your Lawn: Mowing is a simple process but it has more impact on the health and growth of a lawn than any other regular maintenance activity. Start by determining what type of grass you have. Bermuda Grass and Zoysia Grass, usually only found in the south, can handle shorter cutting heights between 1 ½ and 2 inches. Other southern turfs like St. Augustine Grass and Centipede Grass, along with all northern turfgrasses like Bluegrass, Ryegrass and Tall Fescue should be cut higher at 2 ½ to 3 ½ inches. Start by setting your mower deck to 2½ to 3½ inches -- Enger says a soda can on its side should be able to slide under the mower at this height -- and mow your lawn when it needs it as opposed to keeping to a weekly schedule. Understand turfgrass grows slower in the summer and infrequent rainfall can also play a factor in sluggish growth so running a mower across drought-stressed turf can hurt instead of help. Also since mowing opens up the tip of the grass blade, it's best to mow early in the morning after the dew has dried or in the evening when temperatures have dropped instead of in the heat of the day when the most moisture can be lost. Lastly, Enger says that because grass is between 80- and 90-percent water, clippings and nutrients can be recycled back into the lawn, providing beneficial organic material for future growth.

5. Fight Back Against Weeds: Different types of weeds germinate in the spring, summer, and fall so the battle to banish them from your lawn is an ongoing and frustrating one. Enger says the weeds that germinate in the summer are generally the summer annual weeds, which grow rapidly, produce a flower, go to seed and then die with the onset of fall. Many of these summer annuals can easily be controlled by pulling them out by hand because they usually cannot re-grow from the remaining roots; spot treating with a commercial weed control product labeled for use on home lawns is also effective. The best overall method of controlling weeds is a thick, well-maintained lawn, as wind-blown weed seeds will have a harder time germinating in the middle of a lush lawn. By mowing properly, watering as needed and fertilizing to keep your lawn growing, Enger says you will discourage many weeds from ever germinating.

Gluten-Free DogSlim ® Sweet Potato and Rice Snack Bites Added to PetAg's Weight Management Products for Pets

Gluten-Free DogSlim ® Sweet Potato and Rice Snack Bites Added to PetAg's Weight Management Products for Pets

PetAg introduces a new addition to their health and wellness line of DogSlim® products which are designed to help owners maintain or prevent weight gain for pets. The new Sweet Potato and Rice Snack Bites are gluten-free, and made with real sweet potato and rice in all natural baked products. The low-calorie, low-fat treats offer real nutrition rather than empty calories and they are naturally high in fiber. Made in the USA, the line also includes DogSlim powder, an easy-to-mix powder that is the first all-natural, low-calorie supplement created to provide a nutritionally balanced solution for overweight adult dogs, and two additional DogSlim snack bites.

Hampshire, IL (PRWEB) March 24, 2010

PetAg announced today an addition to their health and wellness line of DogSlim® products which are designed to help owners maintain or prevent weight gain for pets. The new Sweet Potato and Rice Snack Bites are gluten-free, and made with real sweet potato and rice in all natural baked products. The low-calorie, low-fat treats offer real nutrition rather than empty calories and they are naturally high in fiber.

Preliminary results from an ongoing study show that large and medium-sized dogs placed on the DogSlim weight loss method lost an average of.75 pounds per week. Slow and steady weight loss is a necessity for dogs because quick weight loss is hard to maintain and unhealthy for the animal.

"Pet owners tend to over-feed and over-treat their dogs to show love and affection, and those add up to weighty challenges for dogs," said Darlene Frudakis, president and COO for PetAg, Inc., a woman-owned pet products manufacturer based in Hampshire, Illinois. "Maintaining healthy weight becomes more important as an aging dog's metabolic rate can decrease by up to 30 percent," she added.

Made in the USA, the line also includes DogSlim powder, an easy-to-mix powder that is the first all-natural, low-calorie supplement created to provide a nutritionally balanced solution for overweight adult dogs, and two DogSlim snack bites. DogSlim's bite-sized, functional dog treats include the soft-baked DogSlim Low-Calorie Snack Bites, all-natural, anti-oxidant filled treats made with real pumpkin and tea, and crunchy DogSlim Mixed Fruit and Veggie Bites, a healthy option featuring the goodness of real apple fiber, strawberries or carrots.

Frudakis urges pet owners to work closely with a trusted veterinarian to determine a pet's optimal weight. Rapid, unexplained weight gain may be a warning sign indicating a number of health issues, ranging from excess fluid retention due to kidney problems, to a hormone imbalance caused by any number of medical conditions. Obesity contributes to diabetes, heart disease, respiratory disorders, osteoarthritis and more.

Exercise is important when trying to help a pet lose or maintain its optimum weight. Keep in mind, however, health-related issues that might affect a pet's ability to exercise (e. g., a dog with joint problems might only go for an amble on warmer days outside).

An 8 oz. package of DogSlim Snack Bites retails for $6.99. A 6 oz. supply of DogSlim powder retails for $10.99 for a one week's supply for smaller dogs. For a larger size dog, the 28 oz can available retails at $35.99. All products are available at reputable pet product retailers and online.

Coming soon: new DogSlim and CatSlim treats.

J&B Software Helps Idaho State Tax Commission Recover More Than $750,000 in Deficient Taxes

J&B Software Helps Idaho State Tax Commission Recover More Than $750,000 in Deficient Taxes

Intelligent Document Recognition Technology Improves Efficiency and Increases Revenue with Rapid Return on Investment

Blue Bell, PA (PRWEB) August 2, 2010

J&B Software (http://www. jbsoftware. com/), a premier provider of enterprise-wide transaction and payment solutions, has helped the Idaho State Tax Commission (ISTC) recover more than $750,000 in deficient taxes over the past two years. The underpayments were discovered by comparing and analyzing tax filing data, filed electronically and through paper returns. J&B's Intelligent Document Recognition (http://www. jbsoftware. com/primary-solutions/intelligent-document-recognition. php) (IDR) solution was used to capture the data from individual tax returns and the employer wage and withholding information.

Generally, these tax deficiencies fall into one of three categories. The most familiar is when individuals, perhaps as part of a larger, organized effort, submit falsified W-2s that claim withholdings higher than what employers actually take from their paychecks. Or sometimes companies will under-report to the government the withholdings shown on their employees' W-2s in an attempt to pocket the difference. In other cases, "phantom" employers withhold taxes from paychecks, but never register their business or pay any withholdings to the government. In all of these cases, the perpetrators are taking advantage of the difficulty governments have in effectively reconciling the employee and employer W-2s submitted on paper.

J&B's public sector solutions (http://www. jbsoftware. com/industry-packages/public-sector. php) leverage IDR technology to quickly and automatically capture, classify and recognize documents such as tax returns, W-2s, 1099s, schedules and correspondence. Once J&B's solution captures and recognizes a document, it extracts data elements, associates the remittance with its related line-item detail and balances the transaction. As a result, the ISTC is experiencing improved availability of funds, lower operational and deposit costs, reduced errors and minimized fraud risk.

"As states continue to battle a challenging economic climate, efficient tax and revenue processing is critical," said Doreen Warren, division administrator, Idaho State Tax Commission. "Better matching of W-2s and tax filings is an efficient way to generate more revenue without raising taxes or otherwise burdening citizens. This project's return on investment has exceeded our expectations."

The ability to match withholding information from an employee income tax return to the employer wage and withholding information submitted by employers is long overdue. The Internal Revenue Service and the Social Security Administration do not have an approved plan for consolidated electronic reporting of wage and withholding information at the state level. Traditionally, this forced states to choose between doing nothing or to conduct arduous, costly, time-consuming manual sorting and data entry activities.

"Governments around the world are looking for ways to increase efficiency, lower costs and realize untapped revenues," said Jim McShea, the chief revenue officer for J&B Software and its parent company, 3i Infotech, North America. "We're helping them meet those objectives with a full suite of products and services that streamline and automate processes that have traditionally been inefficient and labor-intensive."

In a related development, J&B was named the most commonly identified application software in the recently completed 2010 Government Payments and Document Automation Benchmarking Study (http://www. tawpi. org/research/government-processing-study. aspx), a collaborative effort between TAWPI (The Association for Work Process Improvement), IAPP (International Accounts Payable Professionals), FTA (Federation of Tax Administrators) and corporate sponsors.

Additionally, J&B is exhibiting at the 2010 FTA Technology Conference and Exhibition, which is being held through Wednesday at the Grand Hyatt Buckhead in Atlanta. The event focuses on technologies that enable improvements in tax administration. Laurie Hunter-Manning, a J&B account executive, will join representatives of ibml and Fairfax Imaging for an interactive roundtable discussion on payments and document automation technology trends in the government space. The August 3 panel will also focus on the results of the aforementioned 2010 Government Payments and Document Automation Benchmarking Study.

New York, NY (Vocus) September 22, 2009 -—

The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation and Shire plc (LSE: SHP, NASDAQ: SHPGY) today announced that more than 6,800 Facebook® users have participated in its first-ever virtual “Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) March on the Hill” at www. ibdmarchonthehill. com. Using social media tools, the program aims to promote awareness about and raise funds for research and programs supporting those battling Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, chronic and painful digestive diseases impacting more than 1.4 million Americans. Website visitors are asked to show their support by selecting a unique shoe to place on the virtual “Hill” and are able to see how their step has impacted the total number of steps taken to date.

The virtual march is driving attention to a widget that allows users to take a virtual "step" around the National Mall in Washington, DC and rallying support around the Foundation’s IBD Research and Awareness Act in the House and Senate, which would:
Encourage Congress to provide funding to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disease at NIH for expanded research on IBD. Authorize, for five years, an IBD Epidemiology Program at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Authorize the establishment of a Pediatric IBD Patient Registry at the CDC. Authorize the establishment of an IBD Awareness Program at the CDC. By writing their local representatives and asking their friends and family to contact their legislators, Crohn’s and colitis advocates are spreading the word about the potential benefits of the IBD Research and Awareness Act.

Shire will donate $1 per footstep to CCFA for research, education and support initiatives for each of the first 30,000 steps taken. The program, which concludes in December, will continue to drive much-needed support to complement its advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill.

About CCFA’s Advocacy Program
Advocacy is a major component of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation's mission. CCFA advocates are not only patients, but family members, friends, caregivers, and doctors who want to make their voices heard and see a future free from Crohn's and colitis. Foundation advocates are calling for increased Federal funding for Crohn's and colitis research and awareness programs designed to improve the lives of patients. The Foundation encourages its members, volunteers, and friends to become actively involved in advancing our public policy goals. By sharing personal stories and providing crucial information about the impact of these devastating diseases, our advocates inform and inspire elected representatives in Congress. For more information on how Advocates can make their voices heard, visit http://www. ccfa. org/advocacy/?LMI=9 (http://www. ccfa. org/advocacy/?LMI=9).

About Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis
Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are painful, medically incurable illnesses that attack the digestive system. Crohn's disease may attack anywhere from the mouth to the anus, while ulcerative colitis inflames only the large intestine (colon). Symptoms may include abdominal pain, persistent diarrhea, rectal bleeding, fever and weight loss. Many patients require hospitalization and surgery. These illnesses can cause severe complications, including colon cancer in patients with long-term disease. Some 1.4 million American adults and children suffer from Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, with as many as 150,000 under the age of 18. Most people develop the diseases between the ages of 15 and 35.

About the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation
The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America's mission is to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases. The Foundation ranks third among leading health non-profits in the percentage of expense devoted to research toward a cure, with more than 81 cents of every dollar the Foundation spends goes to mission-critical programs. The Foundation consistently meets the standards of organizations that monitor charities, including the Better Business Bureau's Wise Giving Alliance (give. org) and the American Institute of Philanthropy (charitywatch. org). For more information, contact the Foundation at 800-932-2423 or visit www. ccfa. org.

Jacobson Resonance Enterprises, Inc. Updates Potentials for Electromagnetically Restructuring of Water

Jacobson Resonance Enterprises, Inc. Updates Potentials for Electromagnetically Restructuring of Water.

Jacobson Resonance Enterprises, Inc., (OTC BB: JRSE. OB – News) announced today that U. S. Patent No: 6,458,071 entitled, “Method for Electromagnetically Restructuring Water for Organismic Consumption” exclusively licensed by the inventor Dr. Jerry I. Jacobson, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Science and Technology Officer holds great commercial potential based upon data from various scientific studies.

Boynton Beach, FL (PRWEB) August 5, 2004

Water, the solvent of life, comprises 60% to 90% of all living systems. Recent studies have indicated that cellular water is organized in polarized multi-layers and interacts strongly with extended proteins. It appears that water molecule motion is reduced significantly in cells from that of regular water. These observations are consistent with the invention described in the aforementioned patent, as to the interaction between water and solids (critical molecules) within the organism that is treated with water resonated by physiologic magnetic fields.

The following studies revealed illuminating results.

1. University of Memphis-Spectrophotometric analysis of resonated water and sports drinks indicated that resonation may affect absorption and/or transmittance of light passing through the fluid, and may alter the structure, clustering, and/or crystallization of constituents in fluid. Additional research was indicated to determine whether resonating water and sports drinks can enhance intestinal absorption, attenuate dehydration, and/or improve exercise capacity.

2. University of Oklahoma-Subsequent to the above study, the effect of low-level electromagnetic fields on a simple model of osmosis, in-vitro was conducted and demonstrated that, indeed, water exposed to specific fields showed a significantly greater diffusion rate compared to non-resonated controls. Further study showed that fundamental properties of water were altered upon resonation e. g., pH and softness. The same researchers then reported dramatic growth effects of sprouts using Jacobson Resonation. Bean sprout growth for Mung and Soya beans in resonated water vs. control was significantly greater by ratios of, respectively, 6:1 and 4:1. They concluded that within a short period of time, the remarkable enhancement of germination of seeds was possible.

3. Biophysical Institute in Slovenia-Researchers provided evidence that resonation of water increased emission of light (bioluminescence). According to other research, the light (photons) from one atom received and/or shared by another atom can induce the two atoms to interact cooperatively, or what Nobel Laureate Albert-Scent Gyorgi called “the dance of life.”

Dr. Jacobson states; “The resonation of water with physiologic magnetic fields provides a method to restructure water such that the “dance of life” is imbued in the motions of atoms, and the light (photons) shared by important molecules may increase the coherence and cooperativity. As a consequence of the ability to regulate fundamental masses and communications between them we may have uncovered a method to increase absorption rate of medicines and their subsequent efficacy. The commercial value of such a technology is self evident.”

JRSE is an emerging worldwide leader in magnetic resonance technology, whose main focus is the eradication of human suffering. The Company's technology base has the potential for multiple industry applications including the fields of healthcare, veterinary medicine, the leisure, beauty and athletic fitness arenas, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, energy and the environment.

We are not marketing any resonated water products and have not cleared any resonated water products with the Food and Drug Administration for marketing in the United States. If we claim therapeutic effects, our resonated water products may require FDA clearance.

This press release contains forward-looking statements within the meaning of the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995. The matters covered by such forward-looking statements are subject to known and unknown risks, uncertainties and other factors which may cause actual results, performance or achievements of the Company to differ materially from those contemplated or implied by such forward-looking statements. Included in these risks and other factors are funding availability, competition from better-financed companies and required regulatory clearances.

StrandVision Digital Signage Adds Photos/Graphics to its Database Capabilities

StrandVision Digital Signage Adds Photos/Graphics to its Database Capabilities

Ideal for product promotions, employee recognition, event notifications - Introductory Webinars scheduled...

Eau Claire, Wis. (PRWEB) February 5, 2008

StrandVision LLC, a provider of hosted digital signage services, today announced the ability to use its database feature to add photos with corresponding text in digital signage pages. The new capability, included in its "Streaming Video" package, is ideal for any business or organization that would benefit from showing a number of high-quality photos with captions and supporting text in its digital signs.

Supports many industries
The StrandVision graphics database is a powerful feature that can spice up any digital signage page that can benefit from a photo or graphic. It is useful for many applications:

•Real Estate - Show current listings, past sales, feature sales agents
•Distributors - Feature products and special promotions, new items, employees
•Retailers - Feature products and special promotions, sales items
•Restaurants - Display specials, desserts, other impulse buys
•Employee communications - Employee recognition/promotions, employee events and anniversaries, community activities, photo contests, menus, club activities
•Hospitality - Health facilities, meeting rooms, menu items, property amenities, staff profiles
•Schools and colleges - School activities, club and sports notices, student recognition, menus
Essentially, any message that will be enhanced by a photo is an appropriate use for this new graphical database capability.

"The StrandVision graphics database enables users to easily create expanded-format graphical slides that are automatically added to the page mix," said Mike Strand, StrandVision founder and CEO. "Now they can have dozens of different graphical pages moving through their mix randomly or in sequential order. We're only now discovering the many creative ways that our customers are applying this capability. It's a powerful enhancement that makes administration even easier and more versatile while presenting an interesting, ever changing digital signage presentation."

Simple record development - Simple playback
The new StrandVision database enables users to simply add records in a table-formatted entry screen that includes unlimited text and photo caption fields. They can configure the entry screen by selecting from several different text styles and positions using dropdown menus. They can then add a photo to the record using a familiar "Browse and Select" feature that allows for the convenient uploading of the. JPG and. GIF graphics file formats from their computers. Users can add dozens, or even hundreds, of attractive photos to their StrandVision databases which are then automatically distributed to all playback locations by the system.

In playback mode, StrandVision accesses the database record and matches the photo directly to its related text. Records can be randomly or sequentially selected from the database to display with news, weather, photos, text and streaming video pages in the StrandVision digital signage page mix.

For instance, a real estate firm could create a series of databases for different sales price ranges ($100,000 to $150,000, $150,000 to $200,000, etc.). Each database can have hundreds of records. The various databases are then placed into the digital signage page mix. Each real estate listing, with the corresponding picture, then plays according to the display instructions set up by the account administrator.

Introductory Webinars
StrandVision will be hosting free online Webinars to introduce the new graphics database capability. Contact Amy Hansen at 715-833-9501, sales@strandvision. com or http://www. strandvision. com/webinars. html (http://www. strandvision. com/webinars. html) to arrange attendance.
