Flash-EDC (TM) EDC with no connectivity or PC requiredÂ…ever!

Flash EDC is the latest addition to the V. I.S. T.A. suite of Electronic Data Capture (EDC) and EDC-enabling tools from Scientific Software Tools, Inc. (SST).

Media, PA (PRWEB) May 14, 2003 -

Scientific Software Tools, Inc. (SST), a leader in the area of Electronic Data Capture technology, announces the availability of the second in a suite of services designed to streamline and improve the initiation and utilization of EDC in clinical research.

Flash-EDC(tm) is a PDA-based electronic data capture tool. It works with any Palm(tm) or Windows CE(tm) PDA. Flash-EDC(tm) requires no Internet connection, no PC and most importantly, allows collection of clinical data without requiring investigators to be “tethered to the wall”.

Elise Furman, RN, MBA, co-founder of Scientific Software Tools, Inc. explains,

“ Throughout our 15-year history, we have worked to develop tools that aid in data collection and delivery. For the last 3 years, we have focused that expertise on the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and clinical research market, working with top pharmaceutical companies, researchers and CROs. In the course of working with these companies to develop EDC applications, risk calculators and associated software we found that one of the impediments to effective EDC implementation involved the “tethered to the wall” syndrome. We believe that in order for technology to provide maximum value it must be reflective of true user behavior. Requiring an investigator to use a system that ties them to a thin client or a PC-based browser often adds more time to the data collection process, rather then the desired end-result of decreasing time and data entry. After gathering input from CROs, clinical research associates and clinical managers, we developed Flash - EDCÔ. Flash-EDCÔ manages the distribution and installation of EDC programs and the storage and delivery of clinical data for EDC-based studies in one powerful yet easy to use module. It is a perfect solution for shorter-term studies, patient diaries and medical device trials.”
