Taking Care of Your 'Girls': A Fun and Open Forum for Young Women Hosted by Abington Memorial Hospital
Abington Memorial Hospital is proud to present: Taking Care of Your "Girls" – a fun and educational seminar for young women, ages 12 to 18, and their mothers or guardians.
Abington, PA (Vocus) April 1, 2010
Growing up is hard to do. For teenage girls, change comes quickly and, at times, can be overwhelming. It's important to understand the delicate transformation into adulthood and how to properly care for a changing body. Breast development and health, body image, avoiding risky behaviors – these are issues that many young women may find difficult to discuss with their parents.
The hesitation to talk about these sometimes uncomfortable topics is understandable, which is why Abington Memorial Hospital is proud to present: Taking Care of Your "Girls" – a fun and educational seminar for young women, ages 12 to 18, and their mothers or guardians. The program is presented in collaboration with Chattin' Chicks, a community outreach group based in Montgomery County.
Marisa Weiss, M. D.], president and founder of Breastcancer. org and author of Taking Care of Your "Girls," will present "Basic Breast Health: What All Daughters and Mothers Need to Know." This program offers an open dialogue and covers issues of breast development, body image and breast health. A guest speaker will present on "sexting" and avoiding risky behaviors online and via cell phones.
This exciting, free program will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010, from 10 a. m. to 1 p. m. at Abington Memorial Hospital's Frobese Conference Center in the Lenfest Pavilion. Lunch will be served. All participants will receive the book, Taking Care of Your "Girls," by Marisa Weiss, M. D. Mothers and/or guardians are not required to stay.
