Dr. Kathy Malloch, a recognized leader in the healthcare industry and developer of ENEPCSSM (Expert Nurse Estimation Patient Classification System), will speak at the Transforming American Healthcare National Symposium (TAHNS) in Phoenix on March 24th.

The symposium, hosted at the Arizona Biltmore Resort, brings together some of the greatest minds in American healthcare management and policy, representing many different points of view. This year the event will focus on cutting edge approaches to transforming the U. S. healthcare system and developing innovative models for change.

Dr. Malloch is president of Kathy Malloch & Associates, a national healthcare consulting firm providing innovative leadership and insight into effective systems, decision making, futures strategy, and new model creation. She is sought after as a consultant and has worked with many large health systems on issues of shared leadership, workload, and organizational effectiveness. Prior to her focus on consulting and education, she held positions of staff nurse, nurse manager, director of nursing, and Vice President for Patient Care Services.

Dr. Malloch has created tools and models designed to measure workload and patient acuity based on standards of care and nurse expertise. MSS Technologies was engaged by Kathy Malloch & Associates to assist in the creation of one such Web-based hospital application to track actual patient caregiver time in relation to patients. MSS created a technology delivery platform based on Microsoft technology and the application has been implemented at three hospitals nationally and is currently being implemented at two other hospitals.

The healthcare symposium is organized by the School of Health Management and Policy, a research unit of the W. P. Carey School Business at Arizona State University. Other keynote speakers include U. S. Surgeon General Richard Carmona, Senator Hillary Clinton, Senator John McCain, and Governor Bill Richardson.
