La Rabida Children's Hospital Launches Continuing Education Series October 19

Focus: Infant Chronic Lung Disease

Registration is now open for Approach to the Infant with Chronic Lung Disease in a Busy Pediatric Office to be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 in Chicago.

The continuing education (http://larabidacme1.eventbrite. com/) event, the first in a series of three sponsored by La Rabida Children's Hospital (http://www. larabida. org/index) in conjunction with the Chicago Medical Society, will be held at La Rabida, a pediatric specialty hospital that offers programs and services for children with chronic illness, developmental disabilities and/or history of trauma.

Raoul Wolf, M. D. Chief, Section of Asthma (http://www. larabida. org/page-asthma), Allergy and Immunology, La Rabida Children's Hospital; Professor of Pediatrics, Pritzker School of Medicine, the University of Chicago is one of three La Rabida presenters.

He said one of the goals of the conference is to highlight La Rabida's trademark team-approach to care of children who are chronically ill.

"This learning session will reinforce to pediatric specialists that with the help of interdisciplinary support, a child with chronic lung disease can be managed in the office, live at home and go to school," Wolf said.

In addition to Wolf, La Rabida presenters for the October conference are:

Rajinder Arora, M. D. Director of Pulmonary Medicine, La Rabida Children's Hospital;
Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Pritzker School of Medicine, the University of Chicago and Nancy Richer, MSN, RN Program Manager, Homeward Bound; Case Manager for Vent/BPD, La Rabida Children's Hospital.

The target audience is pediatricians, family practitioners and pediatric nurse practitioners who can earn a maximum of 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM from the Chicago Medical Society.
