Swine flu update from Direct Line Travel Insurance

Direct Line Travel Insurance is keeping all their customers up to date with our position regarding Swine Flu. To help with this and in additional to the tips below, Direct Line have prepared some important information which can be accessed in the Swine Flu FAQ section of the website.

London, UK (PRWeb UK) July 28, 2009

Chris Price, Head of Travel Insurance (http://www. directline. com/travel/welcome. htm) at Direct Line said: "Swine Flu is treated no differently than any other illness by Direct Line. We advise our customers to remain calm and to protect themselves by obtaining any relevant documentation that will assist them should they need to make a claim.

"We also urge customers to check for updates with their relevant travel service providers (e. g. airlines etc.) to ensure they are fully informed of any changes in circumstances relating to their trip."

Direct Line offers the following tips to travellers:
If you experience any changes or delays to your intended travel plans be sure to obtain written confirmation from the organisation involved to aid in making a claim, including written medical evidence.  Keep track of any receipts, tickets stubs or any other evidence that may be relevant to a travel insurance claim.  When travelling in Europe, always carry an Emergency Health Insurance Card (EHIC, formally know as the E111), however, this not a travel insurance replacement. If you do not yet have an EHIC, you can apply online at http://www. ehic. org (http://www. ehic. org).  If you are travelling on an organised trip, such as a package holiday, contact your tour operator for more information in the first instance.  If you did not book your trip through a tour operator, contact the providers of the individual elements of your holiday such as the airline, hotel, car hire agency, etc. to discuss alternative arrangements.
