Rising Health Insurance Costs: Is Help on the Way?

Rising Health Insurance Costs: Is Help on the Way?

Washington apparently doesn't have the answer to our spiraling health care costs. Maybe this small Texas company has found a solution to the problem that our lawmakers seem reluctant to tackle

Cape Coral, FL (PRWEB) November 10, 2005

A small company, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, is doing their part to alleviate the strain placed on the average American's budget by the spiraling rise of health insurance premiums.

Who knows where their solution to this problem might lead? AmeriPlan USA, a 13 year old, debt free company, has eliminated the single most responsible cause for this budget breaking problem. Administrative costs!

Over one million subscribers have taken advantage of AmeriPlan's solution. By paying a low monthly premium of $11.95 per individual or $19.95 per household (household includes all persons living at that address, related or not) the subscriber is given access to an ample list of service providers in their geographic area for dental, chiropractic, vision and prescription services. They simply present their AmeriPlan card at the time of their appointment and receive discounts of 25 to 80% for services rendered.

Rosemary Pond, an AmeriPlan broker, explains the cost-saving process as follows; "We are not a health insurance company. We are a health benefits discounted fee-for-service company. Health providers collect their fees up front and for the benefit of not having the overhead expense of recording and submitting the endless stream of data required by insurance companies, they will pass the substantial costs’ savings on to the patient.

The end result for the subscriber is a medical bill for medical services only, without having to subsidize the burgeoning health insurance industry." Ms. Pond went on, "in short, it frees up time for the provider and their staff while saving considerable money for the patient. It's one of those rare 'win-win' situations."

Although AmeriPlan’s formative years have been devoted to dental, chiropractic, optical and prescription services, with great public acceptance, they are now forging ahead into the medical arena with this same discounted fee concept.

Ms. Pond further explained, “Establishing a network of participating medical doctors is a state-by-state process which doesn’t happen overnight. Each state has its own set of hurdles which have to be cleared. We managed to satisfy the various states’ criteria for dental care and we feel it’s only a matter of time before our medical plan meets nationwide approval also.”

As of this writing sixteen states have certified AmeriPlan’s medical discounts with negotiations currently ongoing in other states across the country. With a monthly premium of $59.95 (household plan) for the doctor’s reduced fee service it has been very well received where available. As Ms. Pond notes, “For those people who can’t afford health insurance, and there are more than 40 million of them, this is a Godsend."

"Affordable medical care could cure a lot of this country’s ills." She goes on, "For instance, many small business owners who previously had not been able to offer employees health insurance benefits, due to the prohibitive costs, now find they can accommodate their employees’ needs with the AmeriPlan program. This not only leads to happier, healthier employees but the owners now find they are attracting more capable job applicants by being able to offer them a health benefits package."

It seems that this small company from Texas is tackling a problem that has been strengthening its grip on this country, one the politicians tend to shy away from; affordable medical care for everyone. We are anxiously waiting to see where AmeriPlan’s efforts will lead us.
