Bottled Water No Safer than Municipal Water

Bottled Water No Safer than Municipal Water

RainSoft, a worldwide manufacturer of water treatment systems, reacts to FDA's inability to assure safe, quality bottled water.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) July 15, 2009

RainSoft, a worldwide manufacturer of water treatment systems, reacts to FDA's inability to assure safe, quality bottled water.

Americans pay for bottled water because they think it is cleaner and healthier than municipal water. However, according to two studies released at a Congressional hearing Tuesday, the FDA does not require bottled water companies to disclose sources, use certified labs or report failures of water quality tests. The EPA mandates that public water systems regulate all of the above, and more. In response, FDA officials have requested legislation be passed to allow them more funding and authority in order to control bottled water safety.

"Homeowners, parents and particularly mothers can act now to add one more layer of security for their families drinking water," says Mark Vance, Chief Marketing Officer at RainSoft, a worldwide manufacturer of water treatment systems. "Our research shows that when people talk about water quality they most often are referring their drinking water. They are concerned but they don't know what to do about it other than buy bottled water. Now they are learning that even bottled water might not be safe."

Municipalities responsible for providing tap water have regulations that do not apply to bottled water providers, such as reporting unhealthy contaminants within 24 hours. Companies that produce bottled water, do not have to report any positive contamination tests.

"Area municipalities do a fine job providing water," says Vance. "And RainSoft products help to make this good tap water even better. Our products filter water to levels that no municipality could ever afford to deliver, due to their current budget cuts and limited infrastructure."

In addition to questions about quality, bottled water has long been criticized due to high levels of environmental waste. According to the National Association for PET Container Resources, only about a quarter of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic bottles used for water and other products are recycled in the U. S.

Vance said, "For what the average American family spends on bottled water every year, they could easily pay for a RainSoft drinking water filtration system. Our products give homeowners 'peace of mind' by being environmentally friendly and economically wise."

Are You Ready for the Holidays? How to Avoid the Inevitable 5 Pound Weight Gain

Are You Ready for the Holidays? How to Avoid the Inevitable 5 Pound Weight Gain

In Today’s Fast-Paced World, Staying Healthy can be Challenging, but Now there is a Way People can Easily Incorporate a Regular Health and Wellness Regime into their Lives

(PRWEB) December 23, 2010

Dr. Nathalie Beauchamp, Author and Wellness Consultant announces the unveiling of a unique online health coaching program called “Roadmap to Wellness, Destination: A Healthier You in 90 Days or Less”. During the holiday season it is even harder to take time for ourselves or to even think about eating right. It isn’t about dieting or restricting calories, but more about changing lifestyle habits and making the right choices to keep everyone healthy, happy and ready for the New Year.

Here are 5 Essential Nutrition Tips for the Holidays:

1. Schedules might be different during the holiday season so try to eat 5 smaller meals per day vs. 3 large meals. This will avoid indulging in the "wrong" foods.

2. There is less work time which gives us more time to work-out! Make sure to schedule work-outs first thing in the morning so they are done!

3. Don't eat your emotions! Avoid eating when stressed, extremely tired, upset, or not truly hungry, as this inhibits digestion and creates fermentation.

4. Allow yourself 2 or 3 "cheat" meals to avoid worrying about what to eat but that’s it! Two weeks of bad eating will leave us feeling very drained and off to a bad start for the New Year.

5. The easiest tip of all - drink lots of good water to keep our bodies hydrated. Don't forget that we are 65% water, not alcohol or eggnogs!

Dr. Nathalie’s Roadmap to Wellness was created to be a simple, self-paced, on-line coaching program. “I’ve seen many, many patients over the years, and one of the biggest challenges they face in their health is not having the right information on how easily they can implement health strategies into their lives – they are tired and have no energy,” says Beauchamp.

“Being a health practitioner with a very busy practice, it is nearly impossible to spend enough time with each patient to give them all the health information and tools they need,” says Beauchamp. “I am passionate about helping people start and maintain a healthy lifestyle, and that’s why I created the Roadmap to Wellness program. It’s fast and fun to learn, and best of all, people can do it at their own pace and easily fit it into their busy schedules.”

Worldwide Technology Gap Concerns Scientists and Physicians

Worldwide Technology Gap Concerns Scientists and Physicians

Fifty-eight percent of the 2,100+ respondents to a poll by The Science Advisory Board lament that access to technology is creating an unbridgeable gap between developed and developing countries. The remaining respondents were divided between 26% who thought technology access was not widening the divide between the “haves” and “have-nots” and 16% who were not sure enough about the status of global technology access to comment on it.

ARLINGTON, VA (PRWEB) February 26, 2004 -

–Fifty-eight percent of the 2,100+ respondents to a poll by The Science Advisory Board lament that access to technology is creating an unbridgeable gap between developed and developing countries. The remaining respondents were divided between 26% who thought technology access was not widening the divide between the “haves” and “have-nots” and 16% who were not sure enough about the status of global technology access to comment on it.

It is obvious from this survey that researchers and allied health professionals are concerned about the imbalance of resources and information between developed and developing countries. To help remedy this situation, developing countries should focus on identifying the most pressing needs, building up key infrastructure, supporting local training, and providing outreach. “I believe that developing countries should concentrate on acquiring biomedical technologies that would be most valuable to them, are easily transferred and can be adapted to the realities local adoption requires,” comments Dr. Tamara Zemlo, Director of Scientific & Medical Communications for The Science Advisory Board.

Developed countries can assist most directly in the transfer of biomedical technologies to their developing neighbors by directly investing in the countries themselves, fostering joint ventures and alliances, permitting licensing, providing technical service and supporting trade. Indirectly, these same countries can make valuable contributions by encouraging their talent to temporarily relocate in developing countries, offering special training opportunities, and securing access to technical information, e. g., publications, patents, etc. More controversial measures include “turning a blind eye” to reverse engineering and copying and compulsory licensing. Collectively, developed countries should also pay careful attention to international trade and other policies that might be inadvertently stymieing technology transfer from their countries to developing countries.

Inspiring Women in business in New Zealand

Inspiring Women in business in New Zealand

New Zealand has the world’s highest rate of women entrepreneurs, according to the recent Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, a study of 29 countries. This is in addition to having one of the world’s top five general level of entrepreneurship and innovation according to a recent international report and the highest level of ‘senior’ entrepreneurship (over 35). And this is reflected by the high number of women entrepreneurs taking up opportunities at the Southern Innovation Centre in Invercargill, New Zealand, a 50/50 gender balance in the land of the “Southern Man”. The Southern Innovation Centre has being launched by Southern Institute of Technology, New Zealand.

It has two activities – a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Enterprise (PGBE), that started in February 2002 and a business incubator that will shortly be set up to help innovators and entrepreneurs to launch great businesses. The PGBE is an excellent choice for people wishing to set up their own businesses. It is an 18-month programme, of which the first seven consist of intensive group learning and academic study and the final eleven of action-based research and business planning.

New Zealand is recognised as one of the worldÂ’s most entrepreneurial countries. In the past, entrepreneurs in New Zealand have received less than adequate support and their failures have been harshly criticised whilst their successes often overlooked. This is changing rapidly as the economic and social benefits of innovation and new business growth are recognised by business, society and government alike. SouthlandÂ’s zero-fee education scheme has been an entrepreneurial success in its own right, attracting students for a range of programme to come to the deep South and enjoy a healthy and innovative lifestyle. Now the spirit of creativity and growth has extended to setting up the Southern Innovation Centre as a initiative to promote the values of entrepreneurship, to celebrate and support business talent, and to help create opportunity and prosperity in the region.

The director of the centre, Jonathan Foster-Pedley says: “ This is a golden opportunity for people of all ages in New Zealand who want to set their own businesses. They can do so in a managed and guided way, benefiting from the advice and support of academic staff, experienced business people and from collaborating with others on their programme. At the end, not only will graduates have an academic qualification, but will also have made many of their start-up errors in a safe, incubated environment. Why learn in the real world with real investors’ money when so much of that learning can be replicated under supported educational conditions? They’ll come out from the programme with full business and marketing plans, and a wealth of learning that might have taken them years of hard and expensive experience to get in business. And they don’t only have to come from South – all New Zealanders and Australians can come here to benefit from the zero fee scheme and share in the optimistic Southern energy”

Each participant is provided an office, phone, business and cash planning and computer facilities. Current businesses include graphic design; educational products; filmmaking; bookshops and knowledge services; restaurant and hospitality; bio-diesel research and manufacture; import; lifestyle, health and weight products and services.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) November 2, 2006

Fifteen of the most promising technology companies from Georgia gave presentations to over 100 venture capitalists from across the nation at the ION Venture Forum (www. ionventureforum. com) on October 18.

The annual investor showcase, presented by the Atlanta CEO Council, attracted many investors who do not have active investments in local companies. According to a survey of attending venture capitalists, 44 percent said they did not have a Georgia-based company in their investment portfolio. However, 85 percent said they plan on visiting the area at least once a quarter. Sixty-eight percent come to Georgia once a month looking for potential investments.

"Now in its fifth year, the ION Venture Forum continues to be the premier event in the South that connects national investors with the best local technology companies," said Ashish Mistry, president of the Atlanta CEO Council. "The Atlanta CEO Council has stepped up its efforts to promote Georgia-based companies to VCs who have not invested in our market."

Ladies, Do You Know What is Happening to Your Body as You Age? Are you Spending More Time Researching and Maintaining a New Car than You are on Your Own Body?

Ladies, Do You Know What is Happening to Your Body as You Age? Are you Spending More Time Researching and Maintaining a New Car than You are on Your Own Body?

It's time to understand the changes that your body is going through and take action to regain your vitality, strength and health. We, as Americans, spend more time and research on buying and maintaining our car than we do our bodies.

(PRWEB) June 11, 2005

"As women age, health and wellness are obtained and maintained by balancing your hormones, says author Steven Hotze, M.D., in his new book, "Hormones, Health, and Happiness."

Female hormonal balance between the estrogen hormones and progesterone is essential. The three human estrogen hormones have numerous effects on the body which require the balance of progesterone to prevent the effects of estrogen dominance which can lead to a host of health problems.

Good health occurs when the hormones in the body are produced in adequate amounts and are in balance. "Think of this as hormonal harmony, says Hotze, "as if the hormones are a symphony orchestra. If one section of the orchestra, say the brass section, is too loud, then this will drown out the other sections of the orchestra and ruin the symphony."

As Women Age

A womanÂ’s ovaries generally function best between a few years after puberty until around age 30. As a woman ages so do her ovaries. By the time a woman reaches 35 years of age she is over halfway through her menstrual life and her ovarian function begins to falter.

The progesterone hormone production falls most dramatically over the last half of her menstrual life, between the ages of 35 and 50.

This decline in progesterone occurs for two reasons. Firstly, the ovaries are aging and functioning less effectively than they did earlier in life. Secondly, as a woman ages she begins to have menstrual cycles during which her ovaries do not ovulate, that is, they do not give off an egg. This is called an anovulatory cycle. When a woman does not ovulate during a menstrual cycle, her ovaries will produce no progesterone. These are the causes of what is termed “progesterone deficiency”.

In these cases, the hormones that have the greatest influence in a womanÂ’s body are the estrogen hormones. When this occurs a woman will experience estrogen dominance, meaning her female hormones are imbalanced in favor of the estrogen hormones. Many women have experienced estrogen dominance since puberty. In most women, this condition develops as they move through their menstrual lives.

The approach of menopause-

The estrogen hormones and progesterone decline as a woman ages. But progesterone declines much more rapidly than do the estrogen hormones. As a woman approaches and enters the change of life, menopause, she may begin to experience the symptoms of declining estrogen hormones manifested by hot flashes and vaginal dryness. By this time progesterone is no longer being produced by the ovaries. Even as she has symptoms of declining estrogen a woman still has estrogen dominance because there is no progesterone to balance the lower levels of estrogen. When a woman enters menopause her ovaries no longer function. Yet, she still makes estrogen hormones, primarily estrone, in her fat cells at approximately 50% of what she made premenstrually.

In his new book, "Hormones, Health, and Happiness", Dr. Hotze introduces the reader to a way to get their best life back. Dr. Hotze plots a plan using bio-identical hormones rather than the dangerous synthetic drugs that have received so much negative publicity in the past two years.

Survey Reveals Many Women Facing Menopause Settle for Poor Health as They Age

Survey Reveals Many Women Facing Menopause Settle for Poor Health as They Age

Natural Menopause Expert Says Heart Disease, Osteoporosis and Memory Loss Are Not Inevitable. The Natural Menopause Kit provides answers for women seeking better health and relief from menopausal symptoms.

Boise, ID (PRWEB) February 1, 2007

A recent survey conducted in the U. K. revealed that women are settling for poor health. Maryon Stewart, menopause (http://www. naturalmenopause. com) expert and founder of the Natural Health Advisory Service that conducted the survey, is confident those statistics hold true in the United States, and she doesn't like it.

"Women today are living into their 80s and beyond," says Stewart. "But unless they take steps to look after themselves, they may well spend those years overweight, in pain and depressed."

The survey of 1,200 women aged between 35 to 65 years revealed that those looking after themselves are happier, have more energy, less pain and a higher libido (http://www. askmaryonstewart. com).

Yet only a quarter of women surveyed said they ate at least five portions of fruit and vegetables a day. The survey also revealed that:

Women are more likely to have poor energy levels if they do not eat enough oily fish Over 70% of women who exercised less than once a week suffered migraines, bowel problems, anxiety and depression (http://www. naturalmenopause. com) Women who eat oily fish, do regular exercise and eat plenty of fruit and vegetables have a higher libido than those who don't

"We know from the increasing levels of heart disease in women that many of us are simply not putting into practice what we know are healthy habits," said Stewart. "Simple lifestyle changes can help us increase our health and live longer and happier lives," Stewart noted.

Stewart, a recognized expert in menopause and natural menopause solutions in the U. K and Australia., is bringing her services to the United States. "There are easy, natural ways to alleviate menopause symptoms, protect against osteoporosis and heart disease while improving overall health," Stewart maintained. "Yes, estrogen levels decrease. But women need not suffer from hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, low self esteem or decreased libido."

Stewart's natural menopause kit, which includes her new book Beat Menopause Naturally and a full-length film on DVD, is now available in the United States. The book and film provide detailed advice on managing menopause symptoms, including simple dietary changes and sessions on relaxation and exercise. They also include personal stories from women who have successfully managed menopause symptoms, weaned themselves from HRT (hormone replacement therapy) (http://www. askmaryonstewart. com) and "regained their lives."

About Maryon Stewart -- Maryon Stewart is the author of 24 best-selling self-help books in the UK AND AUSTRALIA, including The Phyto Factor, Cruising through the Menopause, Beat Menopause Naturally and No More PMS. Green Tags represent the environmental benefits that occur when clean, new renewable energy is substituted for power that is produced by burning fossil fuel. BEF has been the pioneer in offering this choice to customers worldwide. Revenues that are generated selling Green Tags are reinvested in new forms of renewable energy. Child Care Check Exposes Licensed Child Care Facility Violations, Infractions, and Infant Deaths in U. S

Child Care Check Exposes Licensed Child Care Facility Violations, Infractions, and Infant Deaths in U. S.

Child Care Check Inc. launches www. childcarecheck. com report service for concerned parents, researching licensed child care facilities and child care safety.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 3, 2008

Not since hidden cameras has there been such a breakthrough in child care safety. With the launch of the highly anticipated Child Care Check Inc. website www. childcarecheck. com, parents can now see behind the scenes, to find out what has really occurred at their child care facility. Where other sites simply provide a background check, Child Care Check goes beyond; to find and provide the information parents really need to know in order to make informed decisions for the care of their children.

Child Care Check is the pride of founder, and father, William Sweeney, born from a gut feeling that told him there was more to the story of the child care facility where he intended to place his own infant. After receiving outstanding referrals for the child care facility, meeting with the facility owner and touring the facility in person, Sweeney's instincts told him to dig deeper. In fact, the story of the child care facility held much more: a child had died onsite at the facility less than six months previous, a facility that by all outward appearances and reputation had a sparkling-clean bill of health and positive referrals.

To make a tragic matter worse, the facility did not even have current CPR training at the time and continued to operate out of compliance after the incident. Following instinct, and contradictory to all outward positive appearances, only exhaustive research on behalf of Sweeney brought this information to the forefront. Child Care Check brings this type of information directly to parents, information not readily available or possibly found by even the most diligent parents. Born from the misnomer that licensed child care facilities must be safe facilities, www. childcarecheck. com specializes in research of licensed child care.

Child Care Check provides detailed information on the most important information that parents really need to know. "Parents often request our reports to find out of a facility has had any violations or complaints," says founder William Sweeney. "These can range from infractions to even accidental infant death. Our goal is to provide as much information as possible, and to educate parents in how to deal with negatives they might discover."

Www. childcarecheck. com provides parents valuable information in a simple, easy-to-read format. Parents can easily view, and then save their personal PDF reports for future reference or comparison with other reports. With just a few clicks and keystrokes, including the licensed child care facility name and address, parents can find out about their facility. "We take care of the rest," says Sweeney who has experienced the firsthand challenges of balancing family, work and a busy schedule with the complexity of locating safe and quality care.

Child Care Check reports are available for less than the price of a child's average doctor's visit, to ensure concerned parents affordable access to the most vital information in child care facility research. Each professional report includes detailed research concerning the license status of the child care facility, compliance history, capacity limits, and full contact details. Infohrm Announces Key Findings From 2009 Industry-Specific Human Capital Benchmarking Studies

Infohrm Announces Key Findings From 2009 Industry-Specific Human Capital Benchmarking Studies

Data Analysis Across Four Major Industries Illustrates Challenges in Retaining Critical Talent in Today’s Economy

Washington, DC (PRWEB) September 29, 2009

Infohrm (http://www. infohrm. com/), the global leader in workforce planning, reporting and analytics solutions, today announced key findings from its 2009 industry-focused human capital benchmarking studies (http://www. infohrm. com/services/benchmarking_report. aspx). The studies utilize benchmarking data from participants in Infohrm’s Industry Consortia, a newly designed program which enables human capital leaders to address critical and unique industry specific challenges in talent management.

“Today’s challenging economy, combined with dramatic restructuring within most industries, has placed even greater emphasis on using data to understand critical workforce trends and shape strategic talent plans for 2010 and beyond,” said Brian Kelly, President of Infohrm North America. “In response to strong demand from the market, we launched Industry Consortia focused not on traditional benchmarking data, but focused on industry-specific business issues which can analyzed through advanced industry benchmarks and analytics. The initial results have been compelling, with senior executives gaining meaningful insight into the human capital dynamics within their industries and their businesses.”

Selected findings by industry include:

Retail Industry
Early-tenure turnover of hourly/non-exempt employees remains an issue in today’s economy, with the median Voluntary Termination Rate in excess of 125% within the first three months of hire. For a retail firm hiring an average of 2,000 hourly employees per month, and using a conservative employee cost model, this represents a cost in excess of $7.5 million.

The retail industry continues to shift its labor force to more hourly workers relative to exempt staff. The median organization grew overall headcount by 1.4% but the Net Hire Ratio for exempt employees consisted of 0.79 (only 79 percent of terminations are replaced by new hires).

Energy & Utilities

Operating profit per FTE is significantly higher in this industry relative to all industries (average of 25 percent), however significant disparity exists within this industry group (upwards of $400,000 difference between similar companies).

This industry is at a higher risk of increased turnover of key personnel moving forward, as the internal mobility of key talent has lagged significantly behind comparable industries.

Financial Services

Financial Services firms have significantly reduced the age (and cost) of its workforce in light of current economic conditions, with the average workforce age at the median organization of 42 years.

Median retention rates for staff with 1-2 years of tenure (78.08 percent) are significantly lower than those of new hires (88.03 percent, for staff with less than 1 year of tenure) and more experienced employees. This suggests that investments in first year onboarding and training initiatives are not being returned to the business in the form of higher productivity.

Healthcare

Early tenure termination rates remain high (the median Termination Rate for employees with less than 1 year of tenure is 32.29%), a significant cause for concern in a highly skilled industry where organizations invest significantly in both hiring and development.

Healthcare firms are “net buyers” of talent, posting strong Net Hire Ratio results. However, health care organizations should use both acquisition and termination benchmarks to understand the true costs of talent churn. The complete findings, as well as benchmarking data for up to 100 metrics, can be found in the full Industry-Focused Benchmarking Studies (http://www. infohrm. com/services/benchmarking_report. aspx). All of Infohrm’s benchmarking reports are available for purchase at the Infohrm Bookshop (http://www. infohrm. com/services/bookshop_items. aspx).

Baptist Adds Cardiac Rehab Medical Director, Revises Program

Baptist Adds Cardiac Rehab Medical Director, Revises Program

After a successful and active career in cardiovascular surgery over the past 38 years, Dr. Kilgore has retired from the practice of surgery. But his devotion to the practice of medicine is not over. He will now lead Baptist Outpatient Cardiac Services, a program that was started 10 years ago, as its medical director.

Jackson, MS (PRWEB) April 8, 2006

In 1971, one of the most extraordinary feats at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Miss. was when Thomas L. Kilgore, Jr., M. D., with Cardiovascular Surgical Clinic, performed the state’s first open heart surgery in a private hospital.

Dr. Kilgore stated, “I am excited about being involved with a program that has the potential to significantly add to the quality and length of life of patients with cardiovascular disease."

“We have restructured our program starting this year,” added Kim Daniels-Speights, RN, Baptist Cardiovascular Rehabilitation nurse. “Dr. Kilgore will be actively involved on a daily basis overseeing patient assessment, providing oversight of exercise and educational sessions, reviewing patient progress, and regularly communicating with referring physicians.”

The program lasts 12 weeks, in most cases, and requires a physician referral. Changes to the program will consist of a complete medical and physical assessment by Dr. Kilgore, new monitoring and computer equipment and classroom workshops.

Dr. Kilgore noted evidence in the medical literature shows that patients going through a cardiac rehab program have a substantial reduction in mortality compared to those heart patients who do not participate in Outpatient Cardiac Rehab. Baptist Outpatient Cardiac Rehab Services will continue to build its program from a comprehensive approach based on medical literature. The five goals for the rehab program include: slowing the artery clogging process, stabilization of plaque to decrease risk of having a heart attack or stroke, decreases the risk of having to undergo further treatments such as stents or surgery, reduces need for hospitalization related to cardiovascular disease and improves quality of life.

“The program will be intense. We will take the patients through an assessment of existing medical conditions and exercise testing to evaluate their functional capabilities. After assessments, we’ll know how to prescribe exercise programs as well as present educational information on how a patient can reduce their risks and improve their quality of life. We will also keep the patient’s primary physician and their cardiologist informed of, and involved with, the patient’s progress, ” Kilgore said.

For more information call the Baptist Health Line at 601-948-6262 or 1-800-948-6262.

Catch the Women's Health Revolution of the 21st Century

Catch the Women's Health Revolution of the 21st Century

Research gynecologist Richard King, MD joins Belinda and Larry Wurn in the new book, 'Miracle Moms, Better Sex, Less Pain.' This pioneering work, endorsed by 'New York Times' best-selling author Christiane Northrup, MD (Foreword) and physicians from Harvard, Columbia, Northwestern, and more, promises to usher in a women's health revolution.

Gainesville, FL (PRWEB) September 2, 2009

Adhesions are a leading cause of female infertility, pain, and sexual dysfunction. Many women have avoided surgery for these conditions by using a 'hands-on' physical therapy, with proven scientific results.

In the upcoming book 'Miracle Moms, Better Sex, Less Pain,' research gynecologist Richard King, MD joins Belinda and Larry Wurn to share a 20-year medical journey examining a physical therapy treatment to help patients achieve goals of pregnancy, better sex, and a pain-free life. Born from Belinda's debilitating adhesion pain after cancer surgery, 'Miracle Moms' (http://www. miracle-moms. com/) is a pioneering work.

Endorsed by Christiane Northrup, MD, 'New York Times' best-selling author (who wrote the Foreword) and physicians from Harvard, Columbia, Northwestern, and other fine medical schools, this book promises to usher in a women's health revolution for the 21st century.

"A heartfelt thank you for providing women all over the world with such a safe, natural, and effective therapy to enhance fertility and pelvic health. Your work is a Godsend," says Dr. Northrup.

With over 700 pages, 'Miracle Moms' is an elegant combination of more than 80 heart-felt patient narratives, and 20 years of theory, development, treatment, and published scientific research. More than 100 original illustrations provide a visual journey into the body and help explain how adhesions cause problems for so many patients and doctors, and why the unique manual therapy (Wurn Technique) was successful for so many women who were diagnosed "beyond help" by their physicians - until this therapy fulfilled their dreams.

The authors have published studies in some of the most respected peer-reviewed medical journals in the US. Studies in 'Medscape General Medicine' (2004) and 'Fertility and Sterility' (2006) showed that the therapy improved female fertility (http://www. clearpassage. com/infertility/female-infertility. php) and decreased or eliminated endometriosis pain (http://www. clearpassage. com/pain/pelvic-abdominal/endometriosis. php) and intercourse pain (http://www. clearpassage. com/sexual_function/painful-sexual-intercourse. php) in most participants. A major study in 'Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine' (2008) showed that the therapy opened totally blocked fallopian tubes in women who had been diagnosed infertile - a feat previously thought impossible. Most had natural pregnancies after their tube(s) opened. The therapy also provides hope for people with post-surgical pain and life-threatening bowel obstructions - common occurrences after surgery.

'Miracle Moms, Better Sex, Less Pain' will be published September 15, 2009 and available in most bookstores for $29.95. www. miraclemoms. net

'Miracle Moms, Better Sex, Less Pain: A Remarkable Journey in Hands-on Healing for Infertility, Pain, Sexual Dysfunction, and Adhesions' by Belinda Wurn PT, Larry Wurn, LMT with Richard King, MD. Original edition. 6 x 9" with 704 pages, 110 illustrations. ISBN 9811868. $29.95.

Expectations for the U. S. Economy Are Worsening

Expectations for the U. S. Economy Are Worsening

Euler Hermes ACI economic analysis says the world economy engine is slowing.

(PRWEB) March 14, 2006

U. S. business profits are continuing to slow steadily and some industry sectors are in a weakened condition, according to economic analysis by global trade credit insurer Euler Hermes ACI. As a result, expectations for the future of the economy are worsening, and a rise in business insolvencies is expected for 2006.

Business profits as measured by operating earnings per share of the S&P 500 companies rose by a sharp 24% in 2004. But when the results for all of 2005 are tallied, expectations are that S&P 500 earnings will have grown only about 15%, and consensus forecasts for earnings growth in 2006 and 2007 are only about 8% and 5% respectively. Meanwhile, several industry sectors are currently in a ‘crisis’ state, most notably the automotive and airline sectors.

“The automotive industry is being affected by rising labor, pension, and healthcare costs, and a poorly conceived product range,” said Euler Hermes ACI Chief Economist Dan North. “Also, the airlines are being besieged by labor and fuel costs, and a price war among the top carriers.”

In 2005, however, the U. S. economy was more resilient than expected in the face of higher oil prices and interest rate hikes, according to Euler Hermes economic data tracking. This pleasant surprise was attributed to a very accommodating budget policy in response to hurricane damage, a strong housing market, low interest rates, and a strong consumer. In 2006, U. S. growth should fall below 3% in the wake of greater budgetary restraint, a tightening monetary policy, and higher material and labor costs. Analysis from Euler Hermes predicts U. S. GDP could fall to 2.5% in 2007.

By continuing to raise interest rates, the Federal Reserve has migrated from an accommodative to a restrictive monetary policy. “The outlook is more questionable since the tightening monetary policy will certainly influence the economy for several more quarters to come,” North said. “Furthermore, the Fed is expected to continue raising rates through March and perhaps even May, so the economy could be facing this headwind until well into 2007.” He added that the Fed raising short-term rates has also inverted the U. S. Treasury yield curve, a very strong predictor of a future slowdown.

The economic analysis suggests that now might be a good time to look at what the future could hold for the business environment, North concluded. “An examination of the risks on the horizon might well be sobering, but it’s best done now while the environment is robust, and before those risks have a chance to emerge.”

State-of-the-Art Residents' Club, Gymnasium, Information Center Debuted at Amberly

State-of-the-Art Residents' Club, Gymnasium, Information Center Debuted at Amberly

Developers of Amberly, a new home community in Cary, North Carolina, unveil the first residents' club of its kind in the Triangle area. The Residents' Club at Amberly includes an Information center, 10,000 sq. ft. club, and 9,000 sq. ft. gymnasium.

Cary, N. C. (PRWEB) October 5, 2007

The Residents' Club at Amberly has officially opened at the Triangle area's best selling new home community.

Developers of the master-planned Amberly community hosted a luncheon on Thursday, Aug. 16 with community homebuilders, development partners and Town of Cary officials to celebrate the grand opening of the 19,000 sq. ft. residents' club.

"We have all been looking forward to this day since we first began planning Amberly," said David Guy, principal/partner of GS Carolina, Amberly's developer.

The celebration was capped off with the unveiling of The Essence of Amberly, a one-of-a-kind bronze statue design by renowned Cary sculptor Carl Regutti.

The Residents' Club at Amberly, designed by Basham & Lucas Design Group, Inc. of Jacksonville, Fla., provides a host of amenities that have never been available before in a Triangle area master-planned community.

Construction on the facility began in July of 2006. The two-story resident's club features two pools, a children's activity center, playground, sand volleyball court and large event lawn.

"This is one of the most dynamic amenity centers we have ever designed, the timeless architecture and recreational activities for the residents will set Amberly apart from anything else in the Triangle market," said Paul Basham, president of Basham & Lucas.

The Residents' Club includes a full-size, state-of-the-art gymnasium with six basketball hoops, a fitness room, aerobics room and locker rooms.

"The idea of a gymnasium was very appropriate considering the rich basketball heritage of the area," Basham said.

Amberly residents are also provided a one-of-a-kind opportunity through a partnership with UNC Health Care. Residents will now be able to participate in health and wellness activities designed and administered by an onsite UNC Health Care staff.

"The Residents' Club represents the core values that the community is centered around: environment, technology, wellness and education," said Guy. "The Club was built to enhance the lives of residents and become the center of activity at the community."

The Residents' Club at Amberly also features: An aquatics facility containing a 9,600 sq. ft. fun pool with a two-story slide tower, an island in the center of the pool for sunbathing and a wading area for children with a large tipping bucket and spray feature; A six-lane Jr. Olympic lap pool over 4,900 sq. ft. with an adult leisure area nearby; a 20,000 sq. ft pool deck surrounding both pools with lounge chairs and six shade structures; an event lawn for parties and activities with two large shade structures.

About Amberly:
Amberly is situated on the western edge of Cary, NC, one and a half miles southwest of the Research Triangle Park, and is located just off Highway 55. The community spans 1,100 acres and includes approximately 5,000 homesites. The Residents' Club at Amberly features programming and staffing provided by UNC Health Care, and the community will also feature UNC Health Care's UNC Wellness Center at Amberly. Amberly is the first North Carolina development to contain an Active Adult neighborhood integrated within a mixed-use community. Amberly is an L. M. Sandler & Sons Inc. development, and is managed by GS Carolina. For more information, call 1-877-4AMBERLY (1-877-426-2375) or visit www. Amberly. com.

– What started as a mostly grass-roots movement has grown into a major sector within the Food & Beverage Industry. A few years ago, a handful of successful low-carb dieters, with fiery entrepreneurial spirits, launched a number of manufacturing companies to provide products they wished were available while they were losing weight with a low-carb diet. These days, everyone from investors to farmers and analysts to major retailers watch intently as low-carb dieting continues to capture the popular imagination across the United States as at least 29 million people "low-carb their way thin."

“Back in 2001, just a small number of manufacturers were in the business,” said David Martinez, COO, Director of Sales & Marketing at Low Carb Success, a manufacturer of flaxseed-based food products. “We entered the market confident that low-carb would not only catch on, but grow in leaps and bounds quickly. So we positioned ourselves to enable growth in the long-term as more manufacturers were bound to emerge.”

Emerge, they have. Today, less than three years later, not only is there more competition, there is fierce competition. The small companies offering low/controlled-carb selections now compete not only amongst themselves but also with the major manufacturers who are also entering the market at a brisk pace. In 2004, according to Mintel’s Global New Products Database, more than 660 new ‘low-carb’ products were released into the US market January through April, about as many released in all of 2003.

Remarkably, those manufacturers who have been in the sector for years are embracing the increased competition. “We keep moving forward,” said Mr. Martinez, “remaining focused on the fact that foods that don't offer the consumer an ability to lose weight while enjoying great taste will not be purchased again. As we have done since our start -- rather than roll-out dozens of new products -- we create, test and release a limited number of products that continue to be well received by the consumer and allow us to continue to build our brand.”

CarbSense President, Jim Haun, weighed in that the explosion in popularity in the low-carb diets and products is, for his company, “an opportunity to evaluate and refine our message to position ourselves well in the marketplace for the long-term. Finally seeing how the large, established companies have chosen to address low-carb has helped us tremendously by bringing the segment to a level of maturity that enables us, and companies like ours, to focus on specific opportunities that we are best suited to fulfill. The segment is rapidly transitioning from prospecting and pioneering to becoming more of a typical niche, where the field is more stable and companies can operate with more predictability."

“The large companies have created product lines that are very well suited for main grocery isles, and will cater primarily to the broad expanse of carb-conscience consumers." remarked Mr. Haun. "Active low-carb dieters will defer to diet and nutritional sections of the store, as well as independent specialty stores. This represents a smaller, yet very attractive sub-segment, which can be well served by quality specialty manufacturers.”

Even those start-ups just getting ready to enter the market are using the increased competition to their advantage. “Consumers are well-educated about carbohydrates when they follow a low-carb diet. At Luscious Living we've taken our time and rather than rush to market, we've been carefully evaluating how to position our products and be sure our message to consumers consistently conveys the long-term lifestyle of controlled-carb eating. We want our customers to enjoy our cheesecakes occasionally while they lose weight, and continue to enjoy them when they've reached their goals,” said Jason Wachob, CEO of Luscious Living, a manufacturer readying the launch of its ‘SophistiCake’ Cheesecakes.

“While growth continues in the sector, some issues remain to be resolved,” cautioned Regina Schumann, COO of the Carbohydrate Awareness Council (CAC). “Industry guidelines still are not in place from the FDA to define ‘low-carb’ for the consumer on labels. Some manufacturers continue to use ingredients that are questionable for health, and consumers are barraged with confusing messages about what a low-carb diet is from the media. It isn't just meat, eggs and cheese; all of these foods are allowed, but that isn’t all you eat.”

“Slowly but surely, as our nation battles an obesity epidemic, the message is reaching the consumer about the healthful benefits of losing weight with a low-carb diet and the long-term controlled-carb approach,” said Dr. Gil Wilshire, MD, President and CSO of the CAC. “Overall the long-term outlook is bright for the industry and the consumer as the scientific evidence continues to emerge and support both low-carb diets and controlled-carb nutrition."

Linda Langdon, CEO of Low-Carb Creations concurred, “As continued modifications and labeling regulations occur within our industry, risk of losing consumer confidence increases. It is the responsibility of both manufacturers and retailers of controlled-carb food products to assure consumer perception is influenced primarily by documented studies and medical data. We have a profound opportunity to influence the continued growth and success of an industry that is making a definite impression in the battle against obesity and diabetes."

Leading US Credit Unions Standardize on Proactive Anti-Phishing Protection from Cyveillance

The number of credit unions using Cyveillance Anti-Phishing grew by 450% in 2006.

Arlington, Va. (PRWEB) January 10, 2007 –

Cyveillance, the leading provider of online risk monitoring and management solutions, today announced demand for its Cyveillance Anti-PhishingTM (http://www. cyveillance. com/web/solutions/modules/anti-phishing. htm) solution grew by 450% among credit unions and regional banks in 2006, validating a growing trend in phishing attacks targeting small to medium sized organizations. Phishers are becoming more sophisticated in their attacks and targeting what they perceive as more vulnerable consumers – credit unions account for over 30% of all targeted phishing attacks against businesses regardless of size or industry.

Selected for its ability to provide continuous Internet monitoring and comprehensive protection against online fraud scams, in 2006 Cyveillance signed numerous new credit union and credit union association customers, such as the National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) (http://www. cyveillance. com/web/newsroom/press_rel/2006/2006-11-27.htm), National Institutes of Health Federal Credit Union (NIHFCU) (http://www. cyveillance. com/web/newsroom/press_rel/2006/2006-11-20.htm), American Eagle Federal Credit Union (AEFCU) (http://www. cyveillance. com/web/newsroom/press_rel/2006/2006-12-18.htm), COCC (http://www. cyveillance. com/web/newsroom/press_rel/2006/2006-03-06.htm) and Schools Financial Credit Union (http://www. cyveillance. com/web/newsroom/press_rel/2006/2006-11-13.htm).

“As more phishing attacks begin targeting credit unions, our members are constantly looking for aggressive solutions to protect against potential customer fraud,” said NAFCU Services Corporation President David C. Frankil. “What distinguished Cyveillance from other providers is their proactive approach. Cyveillance helps us quickly eliminate fraudulent sites and its ability to constantly monitor movement of compromised credit/debit cards and personal information – which is unique – was a major factor in selecting Cyveillance as a Preferred Partner (http://www. nafcu. org/Content/NavigationMenu/NAFCU_Services_Corp/Preferred_Partners/Preferred_Partners. htm). ”

Cyveillance Anti-Phishing provides advanced warning of potential phishing attacks through comprehensive Internet monitoring and real-time logging of fraudulent phishing sites. As counterfeit sites are identified, Cyveillance instantly delivers the intelligence about each attack to the targeted organization, enabling credit unions to take the appropriate security measures to take down the fraudulent site, eliminating the threat of identity theft and fraud to unsuspecting online customers. The service includes the industry’s first and only Service Level Agreement (SLAs) (http://www. cyveillance. com/web/newsroom/press_rel/2006/2006-03-20.htm) for phishing site take-down in 5 hours or less. In addition, Cyveillance can provide credit/debit card monitoring services for credit unions to proactively identify stolen card and personal information being openly sold or traded on the Internet, minimizing losses due to credit card fraud.

“As the largest federal credit union in Connecticut, we take the safety of our members’ identities and personal information very seriously,” said Eric J. Snyder, head of Network Security at AEFCU. “After an extensive review of anti-phishing offerings, Cyveillance with its comprehensive Internet monitoring technology, stood out for its ability to effectively identify phishing sites and take immediate corrective action to take them down. This unique approach allows us to proactively protect our customers from online scams that target their identities and accounts.”

Panos Anastassiadis, CEO of Cyveillance added, “2006 clearly demonstrated the ability of criminals to rapidly change and perfect their phishing techniques to defraud consumers and organizations and businesses. As such, organizations need to be able to quickly adapt to these evolving, targeted and blended attacks. Our comprehensive real-time anti-phishing services enable companies to enhance existing security solutions by quickly and accurately identifying Web sites where suspicious and anomalous behaviors have been detected, categorized and confirmed as a threat.”

Columbus, Ohio Mother Launches Breastfeeding Advocacy Product Line

Columbus, Ohio Mother Launches Breastfeeding Advocacy Product Line

A Columbus, Ohio mother of two has created a new product line enabling moms, dads, babies, and kids – and anyone else who is passionate about breastfeeding – to promote and support this important healthy start to a baby’s life.

Columbus, OH (PRWEB) December 30, 2004

A Columbus, Ohio mother of two has created a new product line enabling moms, dads, babies, and kids – and anyone else who is passionate about breastfeeding – to promote and support this important healthy start to a baby’s life. Mama’s Milk Tees, found at http://www. mamasmilktees. com (http://www. mamasmilktees. com) on the World Wide Web, provides a wide range of designs on everything from t-shirts, sweatshirts, and baby bibs to mugs, prints, and calendars.

The designs by store owner Anna Swank range from somewhat subtle to in-your-face. Says Swank, “I realize that not everyone is as brazen about breastfeeding as I am, but there are also those who are even more outspoken than I am. My line includes products that cater to both ends of the spectrum.” Swank goes on to say she created the line primarily out of frustration. “After my son was born, I scoured the internet and retail stores for fun shirts that promoted breastfeeding. By the time I had my daughter, I realized that if I wanted to wear such items, I was going to have to create them myself.”

Although the initial designs were primarily text and cartoon images, new designs display images of real babies breastfeeding. Many of the photographs used were contributed by women around the world who share SwankÂ’s passion for breastfeeding, and believe that breastmilk is the healthiest food a mother can give her baby.

The US Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women’s Health recently launched a National Breastfeeding Awareness Campaign to promote breastfeeding. The overall goal of the campaign is to increase the proportion of breastfed newborn babies to 75%, and the proportion of six month old babies to 50% by the year 2010. Swank believes that raising awareness about breastfeeding among the general public is an important step in reaching these goals. “For years, bottle-feeding has been the perceived norm among the general population,” says Swank. “Sadly, many breastfeeding mothers have been relegated to backrooms and dirty bathrooms to feed their babies. I hope that the fun and encouraging messages of my designs will help these mothers feel comfortable feeding their babies wherever they happen to be. After all, it’s not really about a mother’s right to breastfeed. It’s about a baby’s right to eat.”

About MamaÂ’s Milk Tees

MamaÂ’s Milk Tees was founded in December of 2004 by Anna Swank. Anna is the proud mother of two year old Jonny, and 13 month old Gracie, who is currently breastfed. When Anna came up empty-handed in her search for fun breastfeeding advocacy apparel, she decided to create her own, and MamaÂ’s Milk Tees was born.
