New Research Imparts Industry Expertise on How to Empower Enterprises and Customers with Knowledge

New Research Imparts Industry Expertise on How to Empower Enterprises and Customers with Knowledge

CRM Industry Thought Leader Examines How to Access and Capitalize on Corporations’ Most Overlooked and Abundant Commodity.

Indianapolis, IN (Vocus) June 5, 2009

Consona Corporation (Consona), a worldwide leader in providing customer relationship management (CRM (http://www. consona. com/CRM/home. aspx)) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software and services for companies of all sizes, today announced the general availability of two white papers entitled, “Thinking Outside the (Search) Box: Powering Enterprise Search with Knowledge” and “Do You Want to Help Customers with Knowledge? (Or Do You Just Want to Buy a Knowledgebase?)” written by Tim Hines of Consona CRM. The research shines a light on best practices for capitalizing on knowledge through collaboration, integration, proper management and technology.

Access “Powering Enterprise Search with Knowledge” now at http://www. consona. com/CRM/LearnMore/KMandSearch (http://www. consona. com/CRM/LearnMore/KMandSearch) and “Do You Want to Help Customers with Knowledge?” at http://www. consona. com/CRM/LearnMore/KMvsKB (http://www. consona. com/CRM/LearnMore/KMvsKB), or read below for further details on the contents of these papers.

The case for enterprise search is clear: enterprises are overflowing with valuable information that has the potential be used by support and service employees, as well as customers and prospects. However, in many organizations, this information is not gathered or organized into a reusable format that lends itself to search and capture. Indeed, in order to capitalize from this untapped potential, enterprise search demands effective knowledge management (http://www. consona. com/crm/Solutions/KnowledgeManagement. aspx) (KM). In “Powering Enterprise Search with Knowledge”, Hines lays out guidelines on how enterprises can build upon their own existing knowledgebase through enterprise search that is complemented by KM.

“Enterprises are drowning in unstructured information, and search can help employees collaborate, reuse existing work and get the specific facts they need to do their jobs,” wrote Hines. “To be truly valuable, enterprise search must be paired with capabilities for capturing, maintaining, and continuously improving the content that it serves. Enterprise search demands effective knowledge management. Search alone isn’t enough.”

Industry experts agree that implementing knowledge management has risen to be a top priority of leading service and support providers. However, too often organizations equate implementing KM with buying, installing and training agents on a knowledgebase tool. While technology is a critical component of success, KM is an ongoing program that comprises people, process and technology, and supports healthy practices for capturing, maintaining and improving knowledge for service and support. In “Do You Want to Help Customers with Knowledge?”, Hines unveils the holistic picture of knowledge management, summarizing the common traps to avoid when launching an initiative, and offering best practices on how to steer around these pitfalls and realize the benefits of truly effective KM.

“Knowledge is power. Service and support knowledge that’s shared with staff and customers is a uniquely powerful driver of internal efficiency and customer success,” Hines stated. “But organizations will only reap the benefits of knowledge when they go beyond thinking about implementing a knowledgebase project and truly embrace integrating knowledge into the entire service delivery process.”

“Every day, our experts at Consona CRM are in the field with enterprises seeking to maximize their return on investment from knowledge management initiatives—these organizations have the foundation of a knowledgebase and the motivation to build upon it, but often lack the proper set of tools and guidelines,” said Tom Millay, general manager of Consona CRM. “In this research, Tim Hines offers solid expertise for enterprises looking to take advantage of perhaps their greatest asset: knowledge.”

Alternative Therapies And Their Growing Popularity

Alternative Therapies And Their Growing Popularity

Alternative Therapies and Medicine Expert Genie James, M. M.Sc. Discusses the Causes of this Growing Trend

Jacksonville, Fla. (Vocus) August 19, 2009

A recent National Institute of Health and Center for Disease Control survey (http://www. usatoday. com/news/health/2009-07-30-alternative-medicine_N. htm) of 23,000 Americans has revealed results regarding the growing popularity of alternative therapies (http://www. alternative-therapies. com/) for both healthcare treatment and prevention. The study found that $34 billion is being spent annually on alternative therapies, a 25 percent growth over the previous decade. These expenditures account for 11 percent of out-of-pocket spending on personal healthcare. Medical experts, while not surprised by this study, are looking deeper into the causes of these results.

One expert, Genie James, M. M.Sc. (http://www. geniejames. com/), co-founder of the Natural Hormone Institute and author of the soon to be released In the Mood Again: Use the Power of Healthy Hormones to Reboot Your Sex Life at Any Age (Simon & Schuster 2010), is a national leader in the field of natural alternative therapies. As a leading voice in recognizing what the traditional medical community has largely ignored, misdiagnosed and mistreated, James points out that both men and women are looking for science-based research that supports alternative therapies. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) (http://www. oprah. com/article/oprahshow/20090112_BHRT_FAQ), organic eating, herbal medicines and the positive affects of maintaining an active, healthy sex life are becoming increasingly recognized alternatives. These successful and proven methods, based on scientific research, have helped thousands of patients who have suffered from symptoms of hormone imbalance, like weight gain, low sex drive, fatigue, hot flashes, foggy thinking and depression.

"Today, broadly defined alternative therapies are medically proven to be safe and effective," said James. "It is interesting to note that 38 percent of the adults surveyed in this study have used these alternative methods in the past year, making them more mainstream than ever before."

The study also found that $22 billion of the total $34 billion spent is classified as "self-care", or therapies utilized before seeking the advice of a doctor. According to James, women represent a significant portion of this movement.

"Women make 80 to 90 percent of healthcare decisions and they are looking for less expensive proven alternatives to living a healthier lifestyle. With nearly 38 million women in the U. S. going through menopause, we are finding that they are not willing to simply sit tight and suffer through," says James. "They are turning to alternative methods such as BHRT, yoga, herbal medicine, organic eating (http://www. organiceating. com/), and even recognizing the health benefits of and partaking in a healthy and active sex-life."

And, women aren't the only ones moving the needle when it comes to the growth in the use of alternative therapies. James says men too are turning to alternative options. For example, two of the most popular pharmaceutical treatments for erectile dysfunction (http://www. webmd. com/erectile-dysfunction/) (E. D) are Viagra (http://www. viagra. com/) and Cialis (http://www. cialis. com/index. jsp). But even these popularly prescribed drugs are being reevaluated for their across the board effectiveness notes James.

"The use of these drugs is considered by some to be a temporary fix. Viagra, for instance, stimulates blood flow to the penis, but does not work over time to restore sexual arousal," says James. "Alternative therapies, such as herbal medicines and exercise, work to fix E. D. naturally, and over a period of time a stimulant therapy may no longer be needed."

Despite the fact that the study reveals an increase in the number of Americans utilizing alternative therapies, James maintains the belief that these therapies alone may not be the solution for everyone.

"It may be that a cancer patient can't go without chemotherapy, but it's important to educate Americans on alternative therapies, and how they may assist in the overall treatment and healing process," says James. "Hopefully this study will inspire more research and investigation into the use of alternative therapies and will continue to reveal their true capacity as part of the overall continuum of care."

About Genie James, M. M. Sc: Genie is nationally acknowledged as a change-agent for improved women's health. She is the co-founder and Executive Director of the Natural Hormone Institute of America and has co-authored From Belly Fat to Belly Flat (http://www. amazon. com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=from+fat+belly+to+flat+belly&tag=googhydr-20&index=stripbooks&hvadid=1153143581&ref=pd_sl_4qzxsvnr0k_b) and From Hormone Hell to Hormone Well (http://www. amazon. com/Hormone-Hell-Well-Straight-PossiblyTheir/dp/0757313906/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1250609831&sr=1-4), with her husband, C. Cosmetic Surgery: Choose Wisely …It’s Your Body and Your Life!

Cosmetic Surgery: Choose Wisely …It’s Your Body and Your Life!

Dr. William Hall, Scottsdale, Arizona, Cosmetic Surgeon Advises Prospective Cosmetic Surgery and Liposuction Patients to Research Surgeon Credentials and Follow Pre and Post-Surgery Rules

Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) June 26, 2010

Liposuction, otherwise known as lipoplasty is the most popular non-invasive cosmetic surgery procedure performed. But with every surgery, there are risks. After recent news reports of patient deaths who sought liposuction surgeries abroad, such as Lourdes Trinidad, the Chula Vista woman who died after getting liposuction in Tijuana, Dr. William Hall, Founder and Chief Surgeon of Infini Cosmetic Associates is reaching out to educate patients about the importance of verifying surgeon credentials and following the pre and post-surgery rules and guidelines to avoid complications.

More than a decade ago, Dr. William Hall opened his unique cosmetic specialty clinic and focused on the safest liposuction techniques to ensure patient safely. Hall has remained true to his mission – to become a lipo expert and specialist, and offer unparalleled surgical care for every patient.

Because of the refined micro-instruments and laser-assisted technologies introduced, liposuction surgeries have changed dramatically over the past ten years. Surgeries are now much safer and complication rates remain extremely low.

Regardless of the low number of incidents correlated with liposuction surgeries, recent death reports create a sense of urgency for prospective patients looking to improve their image in facilities located outside the USA.

“Let’s face it, the Internet has changed the way we seek everything from dating companions to surgeons,” Hall explains. “But you cannot always judge a mate or doctor by what you find online.”

For prospective patients who wish to save money by having a surgery done outside of the country, Hall offers some sound advice.

“When it comes to your body and your well-being, money should not be the main issue," he says. “People and patients do not only gamble with their bodies, they gamble with their lives when they decide to go to another country to save a few bucks – there is just so much more to it than that."

Hall is a disciplinarian when it comes to his practice and to the code of ethics that applies to being a surgeon. He explains that doctors have to put the capitalistic aspects aside and focus on the humanistic philosophies.

“To put it bluntly, as cosmetic surgeons, we are dealing with human vulnerabilities and their flaws, and the perceptions that come with it, and as surgeons we are supposed to offer safe solutions, while marketing physical perfection. It is so important for cosmetic surgeons to review every case as an individual surgery and to go over all of the precautionary measures, which includes pre and post-operation instructions.”

Hall disapproves of lipo assembly line operations and clinics that manufacture cosmetic procedures. He states that some clinics hire new physicians and surgeons who do not have the credentials or the experience to guide patients through the pre and post operative procedures. In addition, many larger cosmetic surgery clinics use patient care consultants to do most of the selling and closing.

Hall explains that patients must consider several crucial items before getting any cosmetic surgery procedure, including:
This is a no-brainer – money should never dictate your surgeon. You are hedging a bet on your body and your life if you cross borders to have surgery. Patients need to do their research. Make sure the surgeon has the proper credentials and experience. With travel and hotel expenses, calculate how much you are actually saving.  Typically any patient is required to have a person escort them to the surgery and pick them up after the surgery is performed. This is standard procedure and it is in the best interest of the patient. He or she should provide the name of at least one person to contact in case of an emergency and that person should be the one caring for the patient after the surgery. In addition, it is always wise to provide the assigned caregiver with the post-operative care instructions, so everyone is informed and on the same page.  Always – always inform relatives and loved ones of your intentions to have a surgery and let them know the specifics, date and location of the surgery.  Before signing the consent form, read it carefully and realize that any time you are introducing anesthesia and substances (even Lidocaine) into your body, you are taking a risk, so educate yourself on the complications.  Any time you go abroad or to another country for a surgical procedure, you should investigate laws that would apply in case of an emergency or an unexpected outcome. They vary and may not be in your best interest, depending.  Cosmetic procedures are typically elective, which means they are an out-of-pocket expense for the patient, but there are many legal implications, especially when performed out of the country. If, in fact, malpractice is an issue, the same laws and rules do not apply outside of the United States, which is very difficult and painful for family members and loved ones in the case of an emergency or wrongful death. There may be no recompense for patients or family members if there are complications after surgery.  Finally, every patient must be healthy and meet the medical criteria before having surgery. Most surgeons will be able to tell through a consultation and proper testing if a patient is in good-standing health – enough to have a surgical procedure. There are warning signs – and a good surgeon will take heed and decline the surgery if the patient is not healthy enough to endure the procedure.

Dr. Hall urges all prospective patients to consider all of the implications before any surgery, whether they decide to have the surgery locally or out of the country.

“As a care-giver, it breaks my heart to hear the bad stories, because I made my decision to go into this industry to improve lives and to make patients happier with the outcome,” Hall says. “I just ask people to apply the same principles and research with any big decision – whether deciding to by a house or a car or make improvements to your body. I mean, is there anything more important than you, your appearance and your health? The answer should be an unequivocal ‘No’!”

St. LukeÂ’s Medical Center Named One of NationÂ’s 100 Top Orthopedic Hospitals

St. LukeÂ’s Medical Center Named One of NationÂ’s 100 Top Orthopedic Hospitals

(PRWEB) February 23, 2000

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Meridell Sloterbeek

 (602) 251-8156

PHOENIX, Arizona – February 17, 2000 – St. LukeÂ’s Medical Center, Phoenix, has been recognized by HCIA Inc., a leading healthcare information company, as a recipient of the 1999 100 Top Orthopedic Hospitals Award.

The hospital was recognized for its excellence in hip replacement surgery. St LukeÂ’s orthopedic surgeons performed more than 200 hip replacements during the base year of the study. In addition, they performed revisions to more than 100 hip replacements which had originally been performed utilizing earlier techniques or at other facilities.

100 Top Hospitals: Orthopedic Benchmarks for Success, conducted by HCIA, is a purely objective study, based on quantitative data that are consistent and complete across the United States. This methodology ensures that the focus is on statistical, rather than anecdotal, evidence of top performance. The measures for the study stress quality of care, efficiency of operations and sustainability of overall performance.

Â“Our study shows clearly that the winners of the 100 Top Hospitals Orthopedic award are providing orthopedic care with significantly fewer complications and significantly fewer deaths than other hospitals,” said Jean Chenoweth, Senior Vice President, HCIA Inc.

“For consumers, our study also provides clear guidance: Orthopedic services, such as those in the 100 Top Orthopedic Hospitals, that treat large numbers of patients tend to produce better results than programs that treat small numbers of patients and/or which are trying to grow at a very fast pace.”

This yearÂ’s ranking is based on the following six measures of clinical quality practices, operations and financial management:

 Mortality rate, risk-adjusted for severity of illness

 Complications rate, risk-adjusted for severity of illness

 Count of unique patients receiving orthopedic services

 Average length of stay at the hospital, adjusted for illness

 Cost per patient, adjusted for illness severity and local wage differences

 Percentage of patients who came from, and were discharged to, home

“St. Luke’s performance, especially relating to our low incidence of complications, reflects the hard work and dedication of our medical staff and employees,” said Meridell Sloterbeek, COO and interim CEO of St. Luke’s Medical Center.

“St. LukeÂ’s has long been recognized by the medical community as a provider of excellent orthopedic services and it is gratifying to know we are among the select group recognized in this study for excellence in hip replacement procedures,” Sloterbeek continued.

Anthony K. Hedley, M. D., F. R.C. S. (Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons), Chairman of St. LukeÂ’s Department of Orthopedics and President of the Institute for Bone and Joint Disorders said, “I have been associated with St. LukeÂ’s Hospital for 18 years. In the course of that time, St. LukeÂ’s has maintained a constant standard of excellence in orthopedic surgery. We have consistently been leaders in the volume of elective orthopedic surgery done in the Valley.

Â“St. LukeÂ’s has developed an international reputation,” adds Hedley, “as being one of the preeminent joint replacement hospitals. Our surgeons performed more than 800 joint replacements last year. The hospital staff brings a high level of expertise and is well supported by St. LukeÂ’s administration and staff. This has been an excellent cooperative venture and continues to grow.”

Theodore P. Firestone, M. D., F. A.C. S. (Fellow of the American College of Surgeons), Vice Chairman of St. LukeÂ’s Department of Orthopedics, who, along with Hedley, performs the majority of hip procedures at St. LukeÂ’s said, Even though Dr. Hedley and I perform a large volume of complex revision surgeries, weÂ’ve kept our complication rate to a minimum.”

The other current medical staff orthopedic surgeons whose procedures contributed to St. LukeÂ’s recognition by the Top 100 study include Dr. Neal Rockowitz, Dr. Bruce Mallin, Dr. Harry Sirounian, Dr. Charles Creasman, Dr. Dana Seltzer, Dr. Alexander McLaren, Dr. Janet Whirlow, Dr. Robert White, Dr. Anthony Yeung, Dr. Karl Hamson, Dr. Jeff Martin and Dr. Charles Gauntt.

A summary version of the study, 100 Top Hospitals: Orthopedic Benchmarks for Success, can be found on HCIAÂ’s 100 Top Hospitals web site (100tophospitals. com).

HCIA Inc. collects, manages and distributes comparative health information worldwide. ItÂ’s customers manufacture, purchase and/or deliver healthcare products and services. Market America Program Uses Individual's DNA to Create Customized Nutritional Supplements

Nutri-Physical ™ Gene SNP DNA Screening Analysis program. The innovative project allows consumers, through DNA analysis, to discover opportunities for health optimization based on diet and lifestyle choices through a customized nutritional supplement program.

Livingston, NJ (PRWEB) February 3, 2005

Market America, a leading product brokerage and Internet marketing company, today announced the introduction of the Nutri-Physical ™ Gene SNP DNA Screening Analysis program. The innovative project allows consumers, through DNA analysis, to discover opportunities for health optimization based on diet and lifestyle choices through a customized nutritional supplement program.

Since 1989, scientists worldwide have been engaged in mapping the sequence of the tens of thousands of genes that comprise human DNA. These scientists have found that slight variations in the genetic code, called single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) play an important role in maintaining health.

Because of this new understanding of the human genome, Market America has developed the Nutri-Physical Gene SNP DNA Screening Analysis program, an affordable way for the average person to manage key aspects of health and well-being before they affect their lives.

"Market America has been and will continue to lead the charge into the future," said James H. Ridinger, president and CEO, Market America, Inc. "By using this cutting-edge technology, our customers will be able to use their own DNA to create a customized supplement and lifestyle program to address potential health concerns. DNA analysis is the future of modern medicine. That future is here and we are bringing it to the public."

The Nutri-Physical Gene SNP DNA Screening Analysis consists of a DNA sample collection kit, including a cotton swab to collect the sample by rubbing it on the inside of the cheek, along with a lifestyle questionnaire. After a complex analysis of the sample and questionnaire, consumers will receive a personalized report that will suggest possible lifestyle changes and a nutraceutical regimen designed to address identified health concerns.

Tobacco Retailers Challenge News Reports on Roll-Your-Own, Pipe Tobaccos

Tobacco Retailers Challenge News Reports on Roll-Your-Own, Pipe Tobaccos

The International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers Association came out swinging today by challenging news reports regarding the labeling switch of some roll-your-own tobacco brands to pipe tobacco by their manufacturers and claims that pipe tobaccos, which have been flavored for more than five centuries, are designed to appeal to minors.

Columbus, GA (PRWEB) November 19, 2009

The International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers Association came out swinging today by challenging news reports regarding the labeling switch of some roll-your-own tobacco brands to pipe tobacco by their manufacturers and claims that pipe tobaccos, which have been flavored for more than five centuries, are designed to appeal to minors.

"The anti-smoking forces once again are getting their underwear in a twist by reaching for straws in their attempts to besmirch our mom-and-pop members," said Gary Pesh, president of the IPCPR. Pesh also is owner of a chain of retail tobacco stores in Virginia. "We the retailers didn't make the marketing switch and we never market to or sell any kind of tobacco products to children."

The Associated Press and other news sources have reported that some small producers have relabeled their RYO products as pipe tobacco to avoid having consumers pay newly increased tobacco taxes at the much higher RYO level.

Among other increases on tobacco products, the new RYO taxes jumped 2,000 percent per pound. RYO tobacco sales have plummeted while pipe tobacco sales are on the rise. Pesh believes it is due, in small part, to the label switch but mostly because many consumers who roll their own cigarettes are simply using pipe tobacco, which, because of lower taxes, is less expensive than RYO tobacco.

"The IPCPR is comprised of some 2,000 tobacconists, largely small, neighborhood businesses that maintain very high standards of ethics and professionalism. We didn't support these tax increases but, now that they are here, we abide by the letter of the law," Pesh said.

Pesh is particularly concerned with the well-funded anti-tobacco organizations claiming in the reports that his organization's membership sells any kind of tobacco products to children, including flavored pipe tobacco.

"Pipe tobacco is marketed strictly to adults - as are all of the tobacco products we sell. It's against the law to sell tobacco to minors. Period. As for pipe tobacco, it has been infused with a wide range of flavors to enhance and provide variety in its taste and aroma for the adult pipe smoker since the 1500s," he said.

The new tax increases on tobacco products went into effect earlier this year to fund SCHIP, the government's expanded children's health insurance program.

"These tobacco taxes are never going to be enough to pay for SCHIP. If more people smoked, they might be enough, but we all know that smoking overall is on the decline, largely due to these very same increased taxes. In a way, the government is throwing out the baby with the bath water by over taxing tobacco," said Pesh.

As for the news reports, Pesh emphasized that pipe tobacco and RYO tobacco are different products for different uses; that pipe tobacco has been flavored for five hundred years and has never been marketed to children; and that the IPCPR fully supports children's healthcare but believes it should be funded by sources other than tobacco.

"Taxes aimed at modifying behavior have a way of backfiring. And the last thing we need is for government to further intrude on our businesses and personal lives," he said.

At-Risk Teens Get Help From Theatre Company

At-Risk Teens Get Help From Theatre Company

A non-profit organization of professional artists, the Unusual Suspects Theatre Group, gives at-risk kids across Los Angeles life-saving theatre experience.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 26, 2006

Every year, the Suspects guide 100 young people, ages 12 – 21, from various backgrounds including: gangs, foster homes, juvenile halls and mental-health facilities, through a 12-week intensive theatre program where the teens are taught how to release their destructive, violent behavior, through plays written and performed by the teens themselves. To get more information about the Unusual Suspects Theatre Group, visit www. theunusualsuspects. org.

The program was launched in 1993 and has had remarkable success. “It’s not like a hierarchy where we’re the teachers and they’re the kids. It’s their play. We’re guiding them so it gives them a sense of their own value and importance,” said Sally Fairman, executive director of the Unusual Suspects. The program introduces the teens to acting games and improvisation exercises through which story lines are developed. After the teens have compiled enough material for a story, a professional script supervisor hammers out a draft based on the teens’ own words.

“A lot of our kids are excellent readers and writers, and a lot are illiterate,” Fairman said. But illiteracy doesn’t prevent anyone from participating. One student was unable to read and a volunteer took it upon herself to record the text and play it back for the teen. The teen has since learned to read and write and is now studying theatre in college.

Volunteers must be flexible, interested in working with kids, and able to follow instructions. It is also very important for all volunteers to stay committed for the entire 12-week program. Most of the kids come from difficult environments and are very tentative. Once a child opens up – and most of them do – it’s very important to keep the support system in place. WHITE CENTER COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION

HIRES STAFF & OPENS OFFICE IN DOWNTOWN WHITE CENTER

Seattle, Washington, June 7th, 2002 ---  page 1 of 2

The White Center Community Development Association has hired David Schraer as Executive Director and Lisa Phounsavath as Summer Program Manager. The new nonprofit has opened a temporary office at 1725 Southwest Roxbury in downtown White Center. “I am exceptionally pleased and excited to be working in a community that has so many superb leaders and strong external support,” said David Schraer, new Executive Director of the WCCDA. “White Center has two amazing assets – a richness and vitality generated by cultural diversity and a climate in which everyone wants the community to succeed.”

After nearly two years of community planning, the White Center Community Development Association is open for business and ready to launch its first programs. The organization is initially charged with revitalizing downtown White Center and improving the quantity and quality of affordable housing in the neighborhood.

White Center is the most diverse community in metropolitan Seattle and its large refugee and immigrant population brings a vital, entrepreneurial and cosmopolitan feel to a relatively small, unincorporated community of 22,000 people. The population includes people from Latin America, Southeast Asia, East Africa and Eastern Europe who speak dozens of languages. Among the challenges White Center residents face are crime, poverty, health, and education. Relative to King County as a whole, White Center has twice the rate of violent crime, twice the number of families living in poverty, twice the number of mothers who fail to receive timely prenatal care and almost twice the number of seniors who drop out of High School. The isolation and financial insecurity of refugee and immigrant groups contributes to these challenges. WCCDA’s community and economic development efforts will address the underlying physical and social factors that constrain residents and businesses from thriving. For instance, WCCDA will work to revitalize the downtown business district by conventional means – and may also work to help business owners overcome obstacles unique to people who are not native English speakers and who don’t understand U. S. business practice.

The WCCDA begins its operations in the midst of a flurry of positive activity in diverse White Center. Park Lake Homes, a King County Housing Authority project east of downtown White Center, is being redeveloped with 769 new housing units, many for market rate rental or sale, and King County has commissioned a major retail market study of the downtown core. The Highline School District recently passed a bond issue that will result in the essential reconstruction of the abandoned White Center Heights Elementary School and other schools in White Center.

WCCDA has received $105,000 in start-up funding from the Annie E. Casey Foundation, the Seattle Foundation and Impact Capital. Many additional government and nonprofit agencies are providing indirect support.

Impact Capital is a non-profit organization that provides below-market housing and community development loan products and grants, as well as technical and leadership training to Community Development Corporations in Washington State. In addition to a cash grant, Impact Capital is also supporting WCCDA with technical assistance.

About Community Development Organizations

The White Center Community Development Association (WCCDA) is a nonprofit organization run by a professional staff and a volunteer Board of Directors from neighborhood residents, business and property owners, service groups and human service providers. Like other Community Development Corporations around the country, the WCCDA will address pressing social, political and economic needs in the community. Unlike a for-profit business, the WCCDA will maintain a different “bottom line.” Rather than focusing on profits as the primary motive, the WCCDA will seek to develop a flourishing community – economically, politically, and socially. Unlike a for-profit business that answers to shareholders, the WCCDA will answer to the community.

A State-of-the-Art Naperville Dentist Takes Illinois Back to Yesteryear: dentalroots Practice Opens

A State-of-the-Art Naperville Dentist Takes Illinois Back to Yesteryear: dentalroots Practice Opens

Relaxing Comforts, Flat Screen TVs, Bose© Headphones, WiFi and personalized attention offer patients of Dr. Nitu Singh the best of modern dentistry…with old fashioned service.

Naperville, IL (PRWEB) August 25, 2010

Dr. Nitu Singh, a general and cosmetic dentist in Naperville, Illinois, invites patients to experience something different with the grand opening of her modern practice called dentalroots. Following an outstanding reception by Plainfield and Naperville dental patients, Dr. Nitu Singh now announces the latest feature of her five-star patient experience with the launch of a brand new dental practice website.

After receiving her DMD degree, Dr. Singh pursued world-class restorative training from around the country. She has completed Aesthetic Continuum courses at UCLA, occlusion (or TMJ) courses from the Hornbrook Group in Chicago, and hands-on courses from the prestigious American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD). After providing services beside other Naperville area dentists, she went on to open her new practice founded on a unique concept.

“The philosophy of dentalroots is to take dentistry back to the roots of treatment and patient care. It’s bringing modern comforts and techniques together with excellent service, without cutting corners or cutting short the time we take to provide the proper care. It’s offering each person the same level of quality that we provide to our own families,” explains Dr. Nitu Singh.

This dedicated dentist envisioned a different kind of practice website as well. She personally oversaw the development of each original page to realize her vision of an interactive online experience, and to address the exact concerns of Naperville and Plainfield dental patients.

Readers can access a number of new features designed to save time, cost, eliminate anxiety, and increase their level of oral education. “Our custom website combines modern tools with the latest in knowledge and genuine communication. It’s easy to use, and easy to find what you’re looking for. Patients can get to know me and my team so they feel comfortable when they arrive. They can also see a checklist of what to expect with our personalized new patient experience, and learn about the high-tech amenities we have on hand for them when they get here,” says Dr. Singh.

Readers can review testimonials, see high quality before and after cases, make financial arrangements and even fill out health history forms at their convenience. Original articles have also been provided to empower her readers from Plainfield and beyond, with topics like “Effective Oral Health Hygiene Habits,” and “Make Sure Your Dentistry is Pain-Free & Affordable.”

A fresh, up-close look at her actual approach is provided on each service page, and pre and post-operative instructions are provided where helpful. Those considering cosmetic solutions will be interested to see more than 20 different factors are considered in her smile design process, to bring out the best of each patient’s appearance naturally. Readers can also become experts on periodontal treatment, porcelain veneers, teeth whitening, crowns, dentures, night guards and other solutions.

The dentalroots website was created by dental-industry experts at Roadside Multimedia, the leading custom website and dental marketing firm known for ‘beautiful, living, breathing websites.’ For nearly a decade, they have helped top cosmetic dentists, dental labs, and specialists including Hollywood makeover dentists, to help patients overcome anxiety and find the most qualified services available to them.

“Dr. Singh wanted a high end dental website that met the budget and created the best online experience possible. We are very excited to see it completed, with new Web 2.0 functionality and a beautiful Flash design that brings the dentalroots concept to life. It also offers some of the best dental information available anywhere,” says Shannon Mackey, Roadside Multimedia’s marketing director.

With an advanced Content Management System, readers can also expect to see the website updated frequently. New topics will cover over-the-counter products, affordable dental options, the immune system, children’s dentistry and more. This Naperville dentist and her team encourage everyone to stop by for a virtual visit today.

Doe Run Supports CDC Recommendations For La Oroya

Doe Run Supports CDC Recommendations For La Oroya

The Doe Run Company said Thursday it was encouraged by findings of a Centers for Disease Control report on health conditions in La Oroya, Peru, where Doe Run subsidiary Doe Run Peru operates a metallurgical plant.

St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) August 11, 2005

The Doe Run Company said Thursday it was encouraged by findings of a Centers for Disease Control report on health conditions in La Oroya, Peru, where Doe Run subsidiary Doe Run Peru operates a metallurgical plant.

In the report the CDC said the top health-related priority was reducing lead emissions and called on all parties involved to work together to address current lead exposure issues as well as the historical contamination that predates Doe Run's 1997 purchase of the 80-year-old smelter.

A PowerPoint presentation on the agency's findings is available at http://www. doerun. com/uploadfile/La_Oroya_appendix_g. pdf (http://www. doerun. com/uploadfile/La_Oroya_appendix_g. pdf). The full report can be viewed at http://www. cdc. gov/nceh/ehs/ (http://www. cdc. gov/nceh/ehs/).

“We believe that the findings of the CDC's report validate our efforts to reduce emissions and address the concerns of our neighbors,” said Barbara Shepard, The Doe Run Company's vice president of human resources and community relations.

Shepard also noted that, in cooperation with the Peruvian government and the La Oroya community, Doe Run Peru has made significant progress on addressing health and environmental conditions in the Andean town. Much of it has been completed since the CDC's 2004 visit to La Oroya.

Advancements include reducing lead emissions from the main stack by more than 35 percent since 1998 and reducing total lead released into the nearby Mantaro River by more than 90 percent compared to 1994. In addition, she said, the company is working to complete eight of nine environmental projects on time, including a wastewater treatment plant and solid waste repositories.

Updates on Doe Run Peru's ongoing environmental progress are available at: http://www. doerun. com/uploadfile/peruprogressupdate-env. pdf (http://www. doerun. com/uploadfile/peruprogressupdate-env. pdf).

“We support the CDC's recommendation that 'building the environmental public health infrastructure needed to develop and implement a comprehensive and integrated plan' is the first step in finding solutions,” Shepard added. “We also support the Peruvian Government's authority and expertise in making health policy and decisions, while acknowledging the government's responsibility for historical contamination. At the same time, more needs to be done and we are committed to doing so.”

The Doe Run Company, along with its subsidiaries, is a privately held natural resource company focused on environmentally sound mineral production, recycling and metals fabrication. Based in St. Louis, the company and its subsidiaries serve as North America's largest integrated lead producer and third-largest total lead producer worldwide, employing more than 4,000 people. The company and its employees are committed to practicing environmental stewardship while producing essential raw materials – lead, zinc, copper, gold and silver – that are needed for everyday life. Doe Run and its subsidiaries have U. S. operations in Missouri, Washington and Arizona, and South American operations in Peru.

Insight Psychotherapy Group (IPG) welcomes Dr. Lesley Davis, Ben Quitarte, MFT and Dawn Beechner, LCSW to its staff roster to help provide continuing quick access to services for the surrounding community. The addition of more staff and the accompanying infrastructure ensures IPG can field requests for consultations (counseling, testing/assessment and business consultations) with a "same business day" response goal. Additionally, IPG has added career counseling services and increased its business consultation capabilities to meet local demand.

Los Alamitos, CA (PRWEB) April 26, 2010

Insight Psychotherapy Group (IPG) is a multidisciplinary counseling and assessment group in Los Alamitos, CA, providing services to families, couples, children, adolescents and adult/geriatric individual clients from the surrounding communities and school districts. Recently, in addition to adding neuropsychological testing services with Dr. Charlotte Modahl, IPG has added to their staff roster and product lines to be able to continue providing quick access to services. The addition of more staff and the accompanying infrastructure ensures IPG can field requests for consultations (counseling, testing/assessment and business consultations) with a "same business day" response goal.

Dr. Nicole Stelter, PhD, MFT (Founder and CEO of IPG) coordinates the business consulting product lines. This includes employee assistance programming, organizational development and assessment projects and career counseling and assessment for individual clients and as a part of business outplacement activities secondary to a layoff or reorganization. We're fortunate in that we can include workplace and individual career assessment and intervention in our clinically oriented treatment planning as counselors and psychotherapists" says Dr. Stelter. "Being able to offer these services in addition to adding to our wonderfully talented and diverse clinical staff can only improve our ability to serve our community's mental health and business support needs."

In addition to offering more workplace and business focused services, IPG is adding three experienced clinicians to its clinical staff roster:
