1. Clear your house of poisonous items: Has the house been cleared of all poisonous items? Have they been taken them out of your pup's reach? If not yet done, now's the time to put away cleaners, laundry detergents, bleach, disinfectants, insecticides, cleaning fluid, fertilizers, mothballs and antifreeze in cabinets or high up on shelves. An adventurous growing pup will be sure to jump high on to your shelves to find out what's there.

2. Uproot all life-threatening plants: Does your home have life-threatening plants? Apricot pits, spinach and tomato vines are dangerous to your puppy. Ask your vet to identify more such plants that could affect your pet's health and life. 4. Supervise the puppy: Don't let your pup be unsupervised whether inside or outside the house. Remember to keep the puppy away from balconies, upper porches and high decks or they may just slip through the openings and fall.

5. Keep your toilet covered: Puppies sometimes like to play in the toilet bowl water. This is harmful for the pup as they may swallow the toilet cleanser.

6. Get sharp objects out of the way: Put away all sharp objects such as sewing needles and pins far away from your puppy's reach. If swallowed, these objects can harm their mouth and internal organs.

7. Don't tie ribbons round the pup's neck: They may chew it and this can lead to digestive problems or choke them if the ribbon gets caught in something.

8. For plant nibblers: If the puppy tends to nibble on grass, don't worry, this is natural. But if they expand this habit and nibble on certain other plants, this could affect your pet's health and life.

Hayti School District (http://www. hayti. k12.mo. us) in Hyati, Mo., has been awarded $2 million over a three-year period in School Improvement Grant funds provided to the Missouri Department of Education under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. As part of the district’s reform efforts, its schools will be implementing Ready, Set, Go!, a customized program of professional development, research-based strategies, and data-driven decision-making designed for school improvement. To determine School Improvement Grant eligibility, the state department of education, with guidance from the U. S. Department of Education, categorized eligible schools into three tiers. Ready, Set, Go! will be implemented in the 2010-11 school year for a one-year contract consisting of 45 days of on-going, personalized professional development. The STIAchievement Services team will develop customized plans for the Middle/High School (which serves grades 7-12) that will engage stakeholders in preparing, evaluating and acting on “Multiple Measures of Data” to support student achievement throughout their communities. The team will develop a plan of action after evaluating current school data and programs to identify trends and barriers to improvement. The team will then work collaboratively with school leaders to set the stage for the improvement process by transforming the school’s culture and educational practices. Findings from the data analysis and school evaluation are used to: inform curriculum alignment and pacing, create an instructional framework aligned to standards and the curriculum, develop a formative assessment program that addresses individual student needs, and engage teachers in job-embedded professional development on effective instructional strategies. This process also enables schools to establish a powerful response-to-intervention system for students at risk. Finally, the team will help the school build a foundation for continuous improvement—centered on sound data-driven decision-making—by monitoring progress, mentoring teachers, modeling best practices, and fostering supportive professional learning communities.

The School Improvement Grant award announcement comes on the heels of another exciting announcement within the district. After the elementary schools implemented STIAchievement Services in 2009, grades 3-6 made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) this year due to the significant gains in their MAP test scores. Tests results indicated an increase of over 45 percent in Math, and an increase in all subgroups in both subject areas, Communication Arts and Math, in grades 4-6. Educators were exceptionally enthusiastic about the news, as grades 4-6 have not made AYP in seven years.

At 73, and living with emphysema, Bob Prosser is an example of the indomitable spirit that characterized his hard-working generation, the one that beat Hitler, took on the war in Korea, and then came home to raise a new generation they called “the Baby Boom.”

Like others of his generation, Prosser just refuses to give up. The way he looks at it, “If this week can be better than last, and last week better than the one before it, that's all I ask."

Prosser is hardly the type of guy who would fall for just another “get rich quick” scheme, but he is proud to be one of the newest members of Prosperity Automated Systems. PAS was founded 12 years ago by Bill Osterhout and is fast becoming an Internet marketing phenomenon.

"Prosperity Automated Systems is a good way for a retiree to make a living,” Prosser believes. “Even if my health was great, it’s impossible to live on Social Security. What I get from Social Security barely pays the rent."

An option for the elderly with good health is to keep on working, even if that means pushing shopping carts around a supermarket parking lot. Prosser says, “What I needed was a job where I could take things fairly easy and still make enough to live decently. That’s when Jay Trevorrow, my sponsor in Prosperity Automated Systems, came to my help.”

Prosser and Trevorrow were old friends from their days in the automobile business, when Prosser was a mechanic and Trevorrow ran a body shop.

Prosser recalls, “Jay had been in PAS for about a year, and he simply showed me how it worked for him. The beauty of it is the team spirit that is generated because your sponsor has a stake in seeing you succeed. Jay is my trainer and mentor. The relationships in PAS are wonderful.”

He adds, “Even more important, it’s a system that really works for you. I don’t have to make sales calls or show up at 8 o’clock in the morning and work until 6. The system does the hard work for me. Frankly, I don’t what else in the world I could do to make a living if PAS wasn’t there.”

Prosser does not look on PAS as a “get rich quick” scheme. “At this stage of my life, I'm not greedy," says Prosser. "All I want to do is make a decent living. If I can make one or two sales a month, I will be very happy.”

“To be honest,” Prosser says, “PAS is not totally effortless. You do have to plan on putting a certain amount of what you make back into marketing. But that’s true of any other business. It is all the rest that is easy.”

Prosser isn’t new to making good money. He spent 40 years in construction and 10 more as an auto mechanic. “With six kids to feed and educate, I had to make money. They are all grown now with lives and families of their own, and my wife passed away some time ago. But life moves on."

Asked about today’s economy, Prosser says, “There is no question about it. Good jobs are hard to come by. Some days, I wonder what all those guys in Washington and Wall Street are smoking. They don’t think about the impact of their decisions on the little guy.”

Prosser is thrilled to be able to participate in the new world of global Internet marketing. "I am new to the Internet, but I’m eager to learn to learn all about it. Alan and Francine Yurko's baby boy was killed by a series of events that started with a vaccination from the most deadly batch of DTaP of the 1990's (according to government records) and ended with hospital overdoses of heparin and bicarbonate. The doctor who administered these overdoses covered up his mistakes by blaming Alan of shaking his son.
