When more than 100 people converged on the golf course on June 14 for the Armed Forces Insurance (http://www. afi. org) Hacker’s Classic sports celebrity tournament, the result was more than $27,000 raised to benefit the United Way of Leavenworth County.

“Our annual golf tournament is a fun way to give our employees and other members of the community an opportunity to support the work of the United Way,” said Col. Tom Dials (Retired, U. S. Rotational Torque Movement Revolutionizes the World of Fitness

Rotational Torque Movement Revolutionizes the World of Fitness

Welcome the Orbital 360 Fitness machine, designed to change your life by using Rotational Torque movement to exercise your body in a way that has never been used before.

(PRWEB) August 10, 2005

The commercial fitness industry has shown to be one of the most lucrative industries with 2004 annual statistics of $23 billion in revenue, and has been screaming for innovation. In answer, Orbital Fitness has come up with an innovative and new revolutionary technology utilizing Rotational Torque Movement.

The business model for the commercial fitness marketing will be the franchise concept, shown to be extremely successful with history of the Curves franchise that has built over 9,000 locations in nine years. The Curves model is extremely lucrative. The following costs associated with each individual franchise are as follows:

Each location costs between $32,000-$40,000 to set up and the franchise owner is responsible for purchasing equipment, something Curves does through a third party for about $1,700 per location. The advertising royalty is 3 percent of the gross, which ranges from $100 to $400 per month for each location and the ongoing royalty fee is 5 percent of gross, which ranges from $200 to $800 per month for each location.

The Curves model has built tremendous success with an obsolete exercise line using a circuit type version of training which dates back to the late 1970s.

We feel very confident the unique properties of Orbital make it an ideal machine for the franchise genre. The uniqueness of designing the Orbital based upon our own human mechanics is just the tip of the iceberg.

The Orbital accomplishes strengthening, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness concurrently creating a time efficient and highly effective workout in 30 minutes or less. The versatility of The Orbital continues by its ability to provide for workouts focused upon balance, agility, coordination and sports-specific training. Additionally, the functional dynamics of the Orbital and its unique effect on the individual strengthen its innovative philosophy of human biomechanical synergy and give it its own stand-alone identity in the exercise equipment realm. These factors along with the soft, flowing and highly versatile motion capabilities of The Orbital make it an ideal exercise machine for the express workout. Each center can also become a retail outlet since the Orbital is a single unit that delivers a wide array of fitness and rehab possibilities for the home.

According to the Sporting Goods Manufacturer Report published in 2005, there are a number of growing trends in the Fitness Industry that are paving the way for The Orbital's success. As an example, from 1987-2004, high impact aerobic exercise has decreased in the number of participants by 60 percent. Additionally, other aerobic style classes including low impact and step classes have decreased in participation by 28 percent.

During that same period, participation in resistance or strength training by 130 percent and home exercise has increased by 139 percent. Additionally, other forms of cardiovascular exercise such as treadmill and elliptical trainer use have increased by 526 percent. Rounding out these trends is a 506 percent increase in softer exercise such as Pilate's.

Finally, the statistics show that the greatest population seeking exercise is the baby boomers and elderly, which represent 82 percent of the active exercise population. The participants of that population are from 39-88 years old, collectively.

These trends reflect the need of that population to engage in movement activities that provide both strengthening and endurance, but without the damaging effects of a higher impact in either category.

By design, the Orbital is the consummate soft strengthening and endurance-building unit. It provides both strength and cardiovascular benefits concurrently to the user, with the added benefit of ever-changing movement patterns, which limits the cumulative stress of traditional machines that repeat the same patterns, thus creating a continued stress on the same body surfaces. The aging population already suffers from arthritis and other debilitating musculoskeletal diseases and yet they need the movement and strengthening that exercise offers. The Orbital provides the exercise without the impact, which greatly contrasts existing equipment, which causes countless injuries, due to the impact and joint-stressing nature of single-planed linear equipment.

The Orbital also provides balance training and increased bone density, which is also essential to the health of the elderly. So many of these people lose balance which result in broken hips from falls and brittle bones that could easily be prevented with the proper balance conditioning and increased bone density that is provided by the Orbital's torque-based resistance.

With the innovation and revolutionary technology of the Orbital, the elderly and baby boomers are the great recipients and they stand to reap the greatest benefits as well.

CortiDiet Plus CarboBurn XR Reveals Positive Results

The Doctors Wellness Center, the makers of CortiDiet, a new, novel weight loss supplement, have revealed positive results from a recent weight loss study. The study revealed intriguing results from patients who combined CortiDiet with CarboBurn XR.

New York, NY (PRWEB) March 8, 2007

The Doctors Wellness Center, the makers of CortiDiet, a new, novel weight loss supplement, have revealed positive results from a recent weight loss study. The study revealed intriguing results from patients who combined CortiDiet with CarboBurn XR.

A 100-subject, double-blind, placebo-controlled, 3 arm clinical trial of top rated weight loss supplements was performed. In the study more than 70% of obese patients in the CortiDiet plus CarboBurn treatment group experienced 12 percent or more total body weight loss during the latest 12-week study period. Mean weight loss in the CortiDiet plus CarboBurn XR group was 22.3 lbs., compared to 3.9 lbs in the placebo group. Importantly, the rate of weight loss for patients in the CortiDiet plus CarboBurn XR group had not plateaued by the end of the study. CortiDiet plus CarboBurn XR was well-tolerated with a study completion rate of 96 percent versus a completion rate of 68% for the placebo group and 75% for the balance of the test groups.

The study was a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study comparing the top weight loss supplements to placebo. Primary and secondary efficacy measurements in the study all showed that CortiDiet plus CarboBurn XR was significantly better than placebo and better than all other active agents in all control groups.

This trial involved 100 subjects, 59 women and 41 men with an average age of 40 and a mean body mass index BMI of 36. A BMI of greater then 30.0 is classified as obese per guidelines from the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services. Each subject in the study received daily doses, consisting of CortiDiet plus CarboBurn XR, placebo, or one of the other top rated brands separately.

(PRWEB) June 17, 2005

Neaclear is launching its summer campaign to raise money for skin cancer research. Having been founded by a plastic surgeon who deals with skin cancer removal and reconstruction on a daily basis, neaclear is a physician-strength skin care company that is trying to give back to the community. neaclear, with its recent success, is trying to raise funds for charity donation while educating the public on sun exposure and promoting skin cancer awareness. neaclear is actively working with some big name retailers like WalgreenÂ’s in an effort to make this charity drive a highly successful one. neaclear will donate 50% of all charity wristband sales to skin cancer research!

Although most Americans know that the sun's rays accelerate aging and cause sunburn, lesions and skin cancer, many continue to ignore warnings and put their health at risk. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. More than 1.3 million new cases are reported each year – and the incidence is rising faster than any other type of cancer. Most people have no idea that 80% of our lifetime sun exposure occurs before the age of 18! 76% of Americans wear sunscreen, but more than one-third purposely apply sunscreen with a low sun protection factor (SPF) for the sake of getting a tan.

NeaclearÂ’s sun block is starting to create a big buzz in the medical community. Among the biggest advocates are some of the most reknown plastic surgeons, primary care physicians and dermatologists. The powerful combination of liquid oxygen, Vitamins C & E, Zinc Oxide, sweet almond oil, sage, rosemary and coconut oil is what many physicians believe distinguishes this sunblock from its competitors. This proprietary formula promotes natural healing while supplying hydration, nutrients and energy. The feedback from patients has been very positive. Of course, a cream can never replace the sometimes necessary need for medical or surgical treatments.

“People know the risks, they've heard the warnings, but it's not enough to get them to protect themselves from the sun,” says Dr. Sam Speron, plastic surgery expert and consumer advocate. “Plastic surgeons see first-hand how sun exposure destroys and ages the skin. Examine your skin regularly. Despite these problems, people still do not protect themselves. Skin cancer is the most unrecognized epidemic of our time!”

Neaclear has written a fact-filled report entitled: “What Everyone Needs To Know About Skin Cancer” to help educate your viewers and listeners. Anyone who would like a copy of this free report can call 1.888.91CLEAR or email us at info@neaclear. com. For more information, they can also visit http://www. neaclear. com.

Horizon Data Center Solutions Reaches Capacity at Dallas One Data Center and Continues Growth with New Customers

Horizon Data Center Solutions Reaches Capacity at Dallas One Data Center and Continues Growth with New Customers

Horizon Data Center Solutions, which launched in mid-2008, reached its first anniversary in business while exceeding growth projections. The company's first Dallas data center is full, while a second one is filling fast with new customers seeking more and more services. The company is actively seeking additional space in Houston, Northern Virginia and Northern California as it enters its second year of business.

Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) July 30, 2009

After just one year of operations, Horizon Data Center (http://www. horizondcs. com) Solutions says it is well ahead of initial company projections for its first year and has reached capacity in its first 25,000 square foot data center, with new customers already filling their second Dallas location, according to Lance A. Smith, CEO of Horizon.

Faster than anticipated growth was aided by growing demand for outsourced IT services (http://www. horizondcs. com/Network-Services. aspx), including colocation, the acquisition of managed services provider Mareechi (http://www. mareechi. com), a successful foray into the government sector, and the company's flexible approach to serving clients.

"Unlike many businesses, the state of the economy has actually fueled a portion of our growth. Companies are looking for more economical ways to ensure the integrity of their information systems. Today, building expensive data centers and complex computing infrastructures that require large capital expenditures is not desirable for most companies. Since both colocation (http://www. horizondcs. com) and outsourced managed services save businesses money, we are benefitting from the desire to be economically efficient while securing world-class IT services (http://www. horizondcs. com/Custom-Development. aspx)," Smith says.

Smith said that only a small amount of space for caged colocation customers remains available in the company's Dallas One data center, where Horizon will continue to provide hosting (http://www. horizondcs. com/Dedicated-Hosting. aspx) and managed services.

Rapid growth is expected to continue for Horizon as it enters its second year of operation, and revenues are anticipated to top $20 million per annum by EOY 2009, as additional customers begin moving into Dallas Two.

Already several thousand square feet of colocation space is under contract for the company's second free-standing facility. New customers include a national home builder, an 800-physician medical practice management company, a multi-state higher education institution and a Department of Defense infrastructure security installation.

According to Smith, a major factor that has spurred the company's growth is their focus on providing flexible services and flexible terms that meet client needs.

"When we established this business one of our goals was to do things differently than they'd been done before. The major data center providers in this country focus solely on serving the needs of billion dollar businesses. However, businesses of all sizes require data security and business continuity strategies that protect them from outages or data loss that can shut everything down. Our FlexSpace Program was something businesses had never seen from a data center company with such high quality data center facilities and dedicated, managed services and it's attracted a lot of attention," Smith says.

Horizon's FlexSpace Program provides customized terms that meet the needs of businesses of all sizes and removes the barriers to traditional "return-on-capital" models utilized by other colocation providers. The approach has allowed Horizon to fill a niche that had long been ignored in the data center marketplace.

Smith says businesses select Horizon because they offer commissioned, Tier III data centers that carry industry leading Tier IV attributes and SAS 70 Type II audits, which regulated businesses demand. Horizon recently completed its formal audit process with KPMG-Dallas. The audit includes a complete analysis of both the Dallas One and Dallas Two data centers.

Smith says that when his team launched Horizon Data Center Solutions in 2008, they anticipated having 50,000 square feet of raised floor space in the Dallas market quickly filled by clients that would be attracted to their different approach to doing business. Both the executive team and investors are now focused on continued growth in other geographic markets, as well as further market penetration in segments like oil and gas, healthcare, and government.

Horizon is actively seeking new data center real estate in markets that include Houston, Northern California, and Northern Virginia. Horizon is represented by GVA Cawley, a Dallas-based real estate broker with expertise in high tech facilities. Smith says their expanding government practice and strong quarter-by-quarter growth has accelerated their aggressive expansion plans by several months.

"We are finding that the market for data security has not faltered with the economy. If anything, more businesses are shopping their services around, looking for reliable data center services that offer more flexible terms that cater to their specific business needs. Our business proposition is different than any out there in that regard, and over the past year that's proven to be a very good thing," Smith says.

Addressing Climate Change Can Reinvent American Industry

Addressing Climate Change Can Reinvent American Industry

DuPont Chairman Calls for Legislation to Include Cap-and-Trade Program

Washington, D. C. (Vocus) April 22, 2009

Addressing climate change may be the single greatest opportunity to reinvent American industry while putting the United States on a more sustainable path forward, DuPont Chairman Charles O. Holliday, Jr. told the U. S. House of Representatives' Energy and Commerce Committee here today.

"We need sound policy that takes broad, coordinated, economically sustainable actions across the entire economy," Holliday said. "We need clear, strong and workable emission reduction goals that will show us the pathway to a low-carbon economy. And we need a cap-and-trade program that focuses our efforts on the emission reduction opportunities that offer the most environmental benefits for the lowest costs."

Holliday spoke on behalf of the U. S. Climate Action Partnership (USCAP), a group of companies and non-governmental organizations which have come together to forge a consensus view regarding the United States' actions on the challenging issue of climate change. DuPont and other USCAP members believe that there is sufficient scientific evidence on climate change to warrant prudent action.

Between 1990 and 2004, DuPont reduced greenhouse gas emissions 72 percent globally from its operations through a variety of innovative efforts. The company has further committed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 15 percent by 2015 from a base year of 2004.

"The current economic situation has served as a reminder to the importance of our resources and how efficiently and wisely they must be used, and a federal climate change program must be both environmentally effective and economically sustainable," said Holliday. "At the same time, we cannot allow the current economic conditions to slow our efforts. A federal climate change program has the potential to create real economic growth through innovation."

DuPont - one of the first companies to publicly establish environmental goals 19 years ago - has broadened its sustainability commitments beyond internal footprint reduction to include market-driven targets for both revenue and research and development investment. The goals are tied directly to business growth, specifically to the development of safer and environmentally improved new products for key global markets.

DuPont is a science-based products and services company. Founded in 1802, DuPont puts science to work by creating sustainable solutions essential to a better, safer, healthier life for people everywhere. Operating in more than 70 countries, DuPont offers a wide range of innovative products and services for markets including agriculture and food; building and construction; communications; and transportation.

Defending Champions Lleyton Hewitt Plus Mike and Bob Bryan Return for 2008 Tennis Channel Open

Defending Champions Lleyton Hewitt Plus Mike and Bob Bryan Return for 2008 Tennis Channel Open

The 2008 Tennis Channel Open -- the Las Vegas-based ATP tournament owned and operated by Tennis Channel -- announced today that 2007 defending singles champion Lleyton Hewitt and doubles champions Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan will return for the 2008 event, planned for March 3-9 at the Amanda & Stacy Darling Memorial Tennis Center. Joining these fan favorites will be top-20 players Fernando Gonzalez (World No. 7) and Marcos Baghdatis (No. 16), each in his first time playing in Las Vegas.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 11, 2008

Chile's Gonzalez reached his first Grand Slam final at the 2007 Australian Open in January, where he lost to perennial champion Roger Federer. Baghdatis, who hails from Cyprus, won a career-high 48 matches in 2007, including a championship in Zagreb, Croatia, and is one of the most popular players on the men's professional tennis tour.

"Having tennis stars of Hewitt's and the Bryans' caliber return to this event each year is an endorsement not only for the Tennis Channel Open but also for the city of Las Vegas," said David Egdes, tournament director and senior vice president, tennis industry relations, Tennis Channel. "Fans have learned to expect great competitors with this tournament, and we're excited to add two more top-ranked newcomers in 2008 with Marcos Baghdatis and Fernando Gonzalez."

After reaching the final of the inaugural Tennis Channel Open in 2006, Hewitt played his way back to the championship in 2007 and defeated Austrian Jurgen Melzer 6-4, 7-6(10). The Adelaide, Australia, native is one of the most consistent performers and recognizable stars in professional tennis, and became the youngest qualifier in Australian Open history in 1997, at 15 years and 11 months. He has since established himself as one of Australia's many tennis legends, winning the 2001 US Open, 2002 Wimbledon, and was a key component of Australia's 1999 and 2003 Davis Cup championship teams. Hewitt finished 2007 as the World No. 21 singles player.

American twins Bob and Mike Bryan will try for their third consecutive doubles championship in Las Vegas in 2008. One of the most lethal on-court tandems in the history of doubles tennis, the Bryans were favored to repeat as champions in 2007 and did not disappoint, reclaiming the title with a 7-6(6), 6-2 win over Israel's Andy Ram and Jonathan Erlich in the final. In November the Bryans gave the U. S. Davis Cup team its championship-clinching third point with a win over Russia's Igor Andreev and Nikolay Davydenko, and in doing so helped the United States to its first Davis Cup title in 12 years. That feat is just the latest on a long list of career accomplishments that includes championships at all four Grand Slams and at the year-end Tennis Masters Cup. In 2007 the Bryans won the Australian Open, reached the Wimbledon final and collected championships at five of the nine ATP Masters Series tournaments. They are currently the World No. 1 doubles team.

"Tennis Channel has always been a vocal supporter of the doubles game, and they carried that approach over to their Las Vegas tournament from the very beginning," said Mike Bryan. "Two years ago during the first Vegas event they built one of the night sessions around doubles matches, which is something unheard of in the industry. We've had a great time at the event both years and are looking forward to going back in 2008 and defending our title."

The 2008 Tennis Channel Open will continue the "Tennispalooza" tournament theme in place since the event's Las Vegas debut in 2006. Fans will again be treated to a festival atmosphere of tennis and other entertainment activities in addition to the men's tennis competition. This includes women's and juniors tournaments, collegiate tennis, unique qualifier formats, paddle tennis, platform tennis, air hockey, foosball, table tennis, live performances, and "Fabulous Las Vegas Night," among other things.

Individual tickets and ticket packages for the 2008 Tennis Channel Open are on sale now. Fans can purchase tickets at 866-641-OPEN (866-641-6736) or www. tennischannelopen. com. In the Las Vegas area, tennis fans can buy tickets at Station Casinos, Fiesta Properties, Galleria Mall and the Thomas & Mack Center at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. (UNLV Tickets handles ticket sales for the tournament.)

The American Water Works Association (AWWA) and the Water Environment Federation (WEF), two of the largest water and wastewater national associations, in conjunction with the U. S. Department of Labor and the Environmental Protection Agency, released the Water Sector Competency Model, which defines the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities, for prospective water professionals and encourages careers in the water sector.

Washington, D. C. (Vocus) November 11, 2009

The American Water Works Association (http://www. awwa. org) (AWWA) and the Water Environment Federation (http://www. wef. org), two of the largest water and wastewater national associations, in conjunction with the U. S. Department of Labor and the Environmental Protection Agency, released the Water Sector Competency Model, which defines the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities, for prospective water professionals and encourages careers in the water sector.

The Water Sector Competency Model, posted at http://careeronestop. org/CompetencyModel/pyramid. aspx? WS=Y (http://careeronestop. org/CompetencyModel/pyramid. aspx? WS=Y), is designed to increase the pool of certified and experienced water sector professionals through a variety of training and career advancement solutions.

The U. S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration (ETA), worked with AWWA, WEF, and EPA to guide and finalize the documentation required to showcase the water sector competency model as a resource for the workforce challenges facing high-growth industries. AWWA and WEF are committed to supporting the competency-based training and certification in the water sector to ensure experienced and certified water sector professionals are available to support public water systems and waste water treatment plants in the future.

AWWA is supporting the initiative by engaging in a three-year research project that supports the improvement of the water sector competency model. AWWA and WEF were both instrumental in the development of the Water Sector Competency Model.

“The release of the Water Sector Competency Model represents an important moment in assuring the water sector has enough well-trained and committed professionals in the years ahead,” said AWWA President Craig Woolard.

“The Water Sector Competency Model is just what we need to attract the new generation of professionals to green jobs necessary for the sustainability of our water infrastructure,” said Peter S. Silva, Assistant Administrator for EPA’s Office of Water.

AWWA is the authoritative resource for knowledge, information, and advocacy to improve the quality and supply of water in North America and beyond. AWWA advances public health, safety, and welfare by uniting the efforts of the full spectrum of the entire water community. Through our collective strength, we become better stewards of water for the greatest good of the people and the environment.

WEF is a non-profit association that provides technical education and training for thousands of water quality professionals who clean water and return it safely to the environment. WEF’s 36,000 individual members as well as 75 affiliated member associations have represented water quality professionals who daily proudly protect public health, serve their local communities, and support clean water worldwide since 1928.

Plymouth Pet Care - Plymouth Dog Training 'Dog Whisperer' Dog Boarding, Dog Walking & Behaviour Specialist's Take Devon by Storm

Plymouth Pet Care - Plymouth Dog Training 'Dog Whisperer' Dog Boarding, Dog Walking & Behaviour Specialist's Take Devon by Storm

Plymouth Pet Care Ltd business provides professional pet care services in Devon. Specialising in dogs, Leonie James is a award winning Plymouth dog trainer. Husband Philip James is a dog behaviour training psychologist 'Plymouth Dog Whisperer' with a combined 35 year experienced team.

(PRWEB) July 26, 2010

Plymouth Pet Care specialise in looking after pets and understand that many of you would prefer your pets to be cared for in their own environment. We recognise that it is often traumatic for an animal to be sent to a Cattery or Kennel. Many of us have difficulty giving a pet the time and attention it needs due to work commitments. Plymouth Pet Care home visits and home from home boarding will put your mind at rest, secure in the knowledge that: 'Your pet is our privilege.'

Specialist Dog Trainers

Plymouth Dog Behaviour Training (http://www. plymouthpetcare. co. uk) (R+ (CANRG) = Pack leader. People argue between Victoria Stilwell Positive Reinforcement (R+) method and Cesar Milan immersion therapy methods. At times people will label a canine issue as requiring dog training or dog behaviour rehabilitation, instead of implementing both. Also using pet care services like our Plymouth dog walking (http://www. plymouthpetcare. co. uk) for regular exercise, or home boarding; Plymouth Dog Boarding (http://www. plymouthpetcare. co. uk) or Plymouth Dog Sitting visits can be less stressful than Kennels or being home all day that lead to many behaviours.

Plymouth Dog Training (http://www. plymouthpetcare. co. uk) leadership program is a effective training approach that establishes and enhances communication, by calm assertive energy (CANRG) leadership, positive reinforcement (R+) but in the appropriate circumstances with structure, setting rules and boundaries. We personally feel long term use of treats or lures to keep a dog's attention actually demonstrates a lack of these things as nothing in life is free. That's not a healthy human/dog relationship.

Your dog like us is required to work for anything he/she needs or desires (food, toys, attention, access to the outdoors etc.). In effect he must "earn" all valued resources by first obeying a command, such as SIT or DOWN and NO means NO. The objective is to have the dog follow the owner's directives and correction as and when issued. If owners are consistent with this approach, the dog will learn that he must look to them to obtain anything he needs or wants, such as food, freedom, play, and social interaction. If the dog learns to respect and trust his owners in this way, he will be more likely to turn to them for direction when he's feeling challenged or fearful and will be more likely to need directions or you can also stop unwanted behaviour by command.

Dog Behaviour mostly come from a lack of exercise, and dominance from a lack of leadership calm-assertive energy (CANRG). Plymouth Pet Care will show you how you how to be pack leader with Positive Reinforcement (R+) & (CANRG). Effective rehabilitation of your dog will also require commitment and willingness from you the owner. "Dog & Owner trained " Nothing in life is free (R+ (CANRG) = Pack leader. We only use non-harsh methods "Not punitive" (no punishment) no gimmicks, specialising in all behaviours all breeds. Mitretek Healthcare National Recall Forum Stimulates Collaboration Across the Healthcare Industry

Mitretek Healthcare National Recall Forum Stimulates Collaboration Across the Healthcare Industry

Patient safety concerns drive leaders to focus on improving the medical product recall process.

Falls Church, VA (PRWEB) June 21, 2006

Mitretek Healthcare, a division of Mitretek Systems, hosted a leadership forum in which participants called for standardization, coordination, and continued dialog about healthcare product recalls. The forum, held in Washington DC, provided an environment in which manufacturers, distributors, healthcare providers, and FDA representatives could identify problems in the recall process, and work toward finding constructive ways of overcoming them.

A key problem identified was the lack of standardization? in terminology, data presentation, and processes. Recall notification processes vary among manufacturers, and hospitals have different mechanisms through which they respond. "There is no standard address or delivery method by which recall notices are sent to hospitals," said Cindy Kilgore, Assistant Vice President of Materials Management in the Virginia-based Inova Health System. These inconsistencies delay responses by healthcare providers and undermine patient safety.

Forum participants were unanimous in their support for improved coordination among stakeholders in the recall process. "We recommend that the industry work together to develop consistent notification and response processes," said Kilgore.

Participants also highlighted a need to identify best practices. They suggested that stakeholder groups contribute ideas about what has worked for them in managing recall issues and suggested they incorporate those ideas into a repository of best practices. For example, Cardinal Health puts a hold on product shipments when a potential problem arises. "If we get a report about a possible problem," noted Claude Grant, Senior VP for Quality and Regulatory Affairs at Cardinal Health, "we take the product out of the pipeline until the question is resolved, rather than continuing to ship."

"Part of closing the loop means closing the knowledge gap," said Lydia Thomas, President and CEO of Mitretek Systems. "We’ve made a good start today, but it will take the full suite of people to solve this." Forum participants agreed that future interactive meetings focused on the recall process would be fruitful, and voiced their intent to follow up.

About Mitretek Systems :

Mitretek Systems is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3), scientific research and engineering corporation that operates in the public interest. Our expertise in conjunction with our objectivity and independence allows us to effectively address challenges of national significance.

Jean Pierre Cosmetics, Inc. Launches Strong with Premium Towelette

As single-step products are one of the fastest growing consumer segments, Jean Pierre Cosmetics is poised to become a leader in the field. Having released its first product, the Eye and Make-Up Remover Cleansing Towelette, the company is laying a strong retail foundation for offering national brand equivalents at lower costs to the consumer.

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 21, 2004

As single-step products are one of the fastest growing consumer segments, Jean Pierre Cosmetics is poised to become a leader in the field. Having released its first product, the Eye and Make-Up Remover Cleansing Towelette, the company is laying a strong retail foundation for offering national brand equivalents at lower costs to the consumer.

Founded in September 2003, Jean Pierre is a family-owned company headquartered in New York. Allan Savdie, President, made a name for himself with more than 20 years in apparel manufacturing in New York. He currently has independent real estate development projects in the city while helming the cosmetics firm. Albert Savdie, Allan’s son, is Vice President of Sales and in charge of the daily operations of the company. Albert’s career in sales began at the age of 13, and by 17, he planned and implemented a successful Internet perfume site that sold more than 800 different products. “The last job I had working for someone else introduced me to the health and beauty market, and I really got excited about taking high quality products and making them more consumer-friendly. I needed to be able to make decisions to ensure standards, so I formed Jean Pierre,” recalled Albert.

With laboratories that maintain the highest standards in research, testing and development, all Jean Pierre products are suitable for all skin types, pH balanced and hypoallergenic. They are richly formulated with rare flowers, herbs and natural plant extracts such as aloe vera, chamomile, green tea, cucumber and ginseng. With a delicate fragrance and no oily residue, they gently clean deep down into pores removing dirt, impurities and make-up (including waterproof formulas). “Our production and packaging process utilizes the most advanced equipment. All our processes are equivalent to famous labels, but we’re not charging our customers as such,” explained Albert.

The popular Cleansing Towelettes are washcloth sized and made of thick spun lace for strength and delicacy. Both the Pop-up Tubs and refill packs contain a generous 30 towelettes, premoistened with the exceptional cleansing formula.

On August 1, 2004, Jean Pierre will offer Foaming Facial Cleansing Pillows and Foaming Facial Cleansing Cloths, both dual-sided (textured for deep cleaning and smooth for conditioning) and enriched with vitamins and moisturizers. The foaming lather is activated by adding water.

“The new dry products complement the moist towelettes and really round out a cleansing system for nearly anyone’s particular needs. And all offer the convenience of performing several tasks in one easy step,” said Albert.

Just this month, Albert solidified a relationship with online retailer www. cosmeticamerica. com to carry all Jean Pierre products. The web consumer-friendly site will take secure orders and ship to the general public beginning June 28, 2004. The products are also available at more than 1000 select stores nationwide.

Francisan Sisters Feature “Mirror of Eternity” as the August “Song of the Month” Free Download

The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity feature Composer Claire Rivero’s “Mirror of Eternity” as the August “Song of the Month” free download at www. fscc-calledtobe. org/living. asp.

Green Bay, WI (PRWEB) August 1, 2006

The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity l feature Composer Claire Rivero’s “Mirror of Eternity” as the August “Song of the Month” free download at www. fscc-calledtobe. org/living. asp (http://www. fscc-calledtobe. org/living. asp).

Each month, specially selected songs and images are chosen to invite spiritual reflection, in particular young women discerning their call in life.

Composer Rivero explained “Mirror of Eternity,” drawn from St. Clare of Assisi’s phrase “Place your mind before the mirror of eternity”, was inspired by research into written works of women in religious communities from around the world. “I literally stumbled across this text in that process. I was stunned that I had never heard it set to music before, and from that point absolutely couldn’t get the text out of my mind until I began the composing process.”

As a composer, Ms. Rivero is influenced by Debussy, Benjamin Britten, Ralph Vaughan Williams. Her compositions include fifty original works for individual artists and choirs, four of which she has founded.

The “Franciscanized World” page is designed to help visitors see the world as Saints Francis and Clare did - realistically, compassionately, finding good and holy possibility in the substance and culture of everyday life.

"We’ve talked with our current and prospective candidates in their 20’s to learn the best way to reach young women interested in knowing more about us, and possibly joining us,” Sr. Julie Ann Sheahan, OSF, Directress of Vocations said. “We want to present our life as a viable option for them. Personal invitation is always best; however, we became convinced that real conversations can begin by using the language of images and music.”

Established in 1869, the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity serve in Catholic health care, education and parish ministries in 11 U. S. dioceses (Green Bay, Milwaukee, Phoenix, Tucson, Honolulu, Chicago, Marquette, Jackson, Omaha, Columbus and Steubenville).

Class is back and so is Audrey Hepburn: A new book, How to be Lovely, presents Audrey Hepburn as a role model for the ages

Class is back and so is Audrey Hepburn: A new book, How to be Lovely, presents Audrey Hepburn as a role model for the ages

Audrey Hepburn is in fashion, as always. Published to celebrate her would-be 75th birthday, a new book, How to be Lovely: The Audrey Hepburn Way of Life makes clear that it is her character that will stand the test of time.

(PRWEB) August 18, 2004

“Living is like tearing through a museum. Not until later do you really start absorbing what you saw, thinking about it, looking it up in a book and remembering – because you can’t take it all in at once.”

Audrey Hepburn

How To Be Lovely

The Audrey Hepburn Way of Life

By Melissa Hellstern

While she is best remembered as a screen legend and a fashion icon, Audrey Hepburn was also a woman who survived an absent father, Nazi occupation, public divorce and miscarriages. Not to mention the pressures of fame.

Published to coincide with her would be 75th birthday, HOW TO BE LOVELY: The Audrey Hepburn Way of Life, (New York: Dutton, June, 2004) makes clear that through it all, it is her character that is sure to stand the test of time. Audrey Hepburn perfected the art of gracious living.

Based on five years of research, HOW TO BE LOVELY revisits the many interviews of Hepburn so that readers can hear her voice directly on universal topics of concern to women the world over – careers, love lives, motherhood, and relationships. More philosophy than biography, HOW TO BE LOVELY uncovers the real Audrey, in her own words, providing a rare glimpse into the women behind the mystique and illuminating her as a relevant role model for women today.

Hellstern showcases AudreyÂ’s thoughts on:

The importance of attitude

The meaning of success

The subtle art of flirting

The challenges of family and love relationships

The balance between career and motherhood

The beauty and health tips that kept Audrey “lovely”

The appeal of laughter

And the meaning of life according to Audrey

An award-winning writer, Chicago author Hellstern has shared her thoughts on Audrey Hepburn in Ocean Drive magazine, Pages Magazine, CS Magazine, The Chicago Sun Times, The Chicago Tribune and on WTTW-TV (PBS), WLS-TV (ABC-7), WGN Radio and Radio New Zealand, among others.

While she would be the last to say so, Audrey Hepburn was an expert in the art of being a woman. Through Melissa Hellstern, HOW TO BE LOVELY imparts whatever wisdom and insights Hepburn found along the way to the millions who grew up, or will grow up, wanting to be just like her.

Enhanced by rarely seen photographs, behind the scenes stories and the friends who knew her well, HOW TO BE LOVELY offers a rare glimpse into the woman behind the mystique and the definitive guide to living genuinely with glamour and grace.

Veggies, Yarns & Tails: A New Eclectic Blog of Interest

Veggies, Yarns & Tails: A New Eclectic Blog of Interest

Announcing the launch of a brand new blog of vegetarian recipes, yarn and cat tales, book reviews and much more.

Regina, SK (PRWEB) March 7, 2006

Announcing the launch of a brand new blog: Veggies, Yarns & Tails (www. veggiesyarnsandtails. wordpress. com), featuring vegetarian and vegan recipes, yarn tips and pattern suggestions, poetry, general and health-related articles. A unique blend of informative stories, good food and fun.

Geraldine Hartman, author of "Not Just for Vegetarians, Delicious Homestyle Cooking, the Meatless Way", has expanded from her original recipe website, www. notjustforveg. com to reach a whole new group of readers. In addition to great new vegetarian recipes and cooking tips, Hartman now shares her love of yarn crafts, all things feline, poetry and prose. Timely articles, book reviews, health-related topics and product reviews add to the interesting mix. Daily updates will keep the content fresh and entertaining.

"Life has taken many twists and turns since my days at Ryerson," Geraldine writes in Veggies, Yarns & Tails. "Writing has always been a part of my life, sometimes more, sometimes too little, since my first trek to Toronto. Many places, loves and losses have come and gone. But what always remains, and what this blog again brings to mind, is my love for writing and for reading."

Here is more from the blog:

Book Review: The Spice and Herb Bible Ian (aka Herbie) Hemphill has written a must-have book for every cook’s collection. Not only is this a great reference guide explaining the growing, storage and suggested usage of a long list of herbs and spices; it is also a fascinating read from start to finish. The attractive, full-color book includes personal stories, suggestions for combining herbs and spices and even some recipes. Truly de-mystifies the subject and makes experimenting with new spice and food combinations fun and rewarding. I highly recommend this book, my favorite herb/spice reference guide.

Savory Cheddar-Cheese Muffins These muffins have received rave reviews from so many of my cookbook readers. Easy to make, always delicious. Adding crushed, dried herbs makes these muffins ideal to accompany any soup. Leave the herbs out, add your favorite jam or preserves and you have a satisfying breakfast to go. (Check out www. veggiesyarnsandtails. wordpress. com for the recipe)

Just as her cookbook was NOT just for vegetarians; Veggies, Yarns & Tails is NOT just another blog.

777 Health VS. Depression

777 Health VS. Depression

God's Word and Spiritual Science provide the solution to the greatest emotional void known to humanity. The recent discovery of the superconductive nature of a cellular structure in our bodies proves how we are truly part of God and control our own destinies.

(PRWEB) June 30, 2001

We should see it coming like a dreaded ghost ship coming off the misty horizon. Most of us don't see it coming. Most of us don't want to see it coming; it grows and spreads not much different than a malignant cancer. Once depression is rooted and takes hold it has, in it's own way, replaced the person that we knew.

Fortunately, fantastic and mysterious properties discovered in our own bodies demonstrate beyond a shadow of a doubt that we ARE spiritual beings wrought from the mind of God, Who put us in the physical world to learn. Suffice it to say that whatever we think, feel, and believe reflects in the 'physical' world: "As A Man Thinketh In His Heart, So He Is" (Proverbs 27:19).

There is even greater truth than what has been presented to you at school, television, the newspaper or your family doctor. You will find out how to deal with depression and its servants. You will discover how weak depression really is since it is a tool of Satan. You will find out how to rise above depression and its weak-willed servants. Most of all you will learn to recognize the seeds of depression and keep the evil from taking root.

Please visit http://www.777-health. com/depression. htm (http://www.777-health. com/depression. htm) and discover for yourself!

HealthTrain Manifesto kicks off a grassroots awareness campaign for transforming the healthcare system by empowering individual consumers and professionals through blogs and social media.

Sunnyvale, CA (PRWEB) October 31, 2006

HealthTrain Manifesto has kicked off a grassroots awareness campaign for transforming the healthcare system by empowering individual consumers and professionals through blogs and social

The impact of Open Publishing Media is only beginning to be felt in healthcare. Fundamental transformation of politics, news, entertainment and technology sectors shows the shape of things to come.

HealthTrain Manifesto is the first attempt to outline a set of principles to safeguard open health media, while preserving and promoting its unique benefits. The stakes of integrity are high in healthcare, but the risks can be overcome, raising the credibility bar even higher.

Version 0.1 is the First Public Draft, designed to engage all healthcare stakeholders in a dialog. The intent is eventual update of the eHealth integrity standards (think "HONcode 2.0") to reflect the opportunities and risks presented by the open health media.

Supporters of the Manifesto represent a broad cross-section of healthcare stakeholders, already extending beyond bloggers.

A Grassroots Campaign is launched to disseminate the vision, build public support and advocate for greater openness by all healthcare stakeholders. Visit Manifesto website to view the list of supporters and provide your input (www. healthvoices. com/manifesto (http://www. healthvoices. com/manifesto)).

Healthcare Blogging Summit 2006 taking place in Washington, D. C. on December 11 (www. healthvoices. com/conference (http://www. healthvoices. com/conference)) will feature in depth discussions of HealthTrain implications for the healthcare industry.

QUOTES

F. Nicholas Jacobs, CEO, Windber Medical Center & Research Institute

The American Health System must begin to demystify itself. We need to be transparent, honest and supportive. How does one achieve this in an environment that is completely litigious? We need to treat our patients as partners in every way. We need to openly share our challenges with them and manage their expectations through honest communication. It is amazing how tolerant and supportive human beings can be when they are being treated as respected peers.

Paul Costello, Executive Director, Communications & Public Affairs, Stanford University School of Medicine

Sophisticated questions of biology will confront each and every American in the 21st Century. Social media has the potential to change the paradigm by empowering the health care consumer with vast amounts of knowledge about breakthrough cutting edge biomedical research. Everyone will benefit when the impenetrable walls protecting health care knowledge come tumbling down.

Dmitriy Kruglyak, Publisher, The Medical Blog Network

Rapid rise of the blogs and social media leaves healthcare consumers, professionals and institutions no choice but to pay attention. The new forms of media are steadily gaining credibility and shaping reputations of healthcare leaders, vendors, providers and other industry players. HealthTrain Manifesto will help grow and cultivate this online ecosystem.

A Comparative Overview of the U. S. and European Phytosterols Market

A Comparative Overview of the U. S. and European Phytosterols Market

The Food & Beverage Ingredients Group at Frost & Sullivan is pleased to announce its 2006 Quarterly Analyst Briefing Presentation on the U. S. and European Phytosterols Markets to be held on May 4, 2006 at 11:00 am EST.

PALO ALTO, CA (PRWEB) April 30, 2006 -–

The Food & Beverage Ingredients Group at Frost & Sullivan is pleased to announce its 2006 Quarterly Analyst Briefing Presentation on the U. S. and European Phytosterols Markets to be held on May 4, 2006 at 11:00 am EST.

Heart diseases account for approximately 50% of all deaths in the industrialized world. One of the major risk factors contributing to the development of heart diseases is the elevated levels of cholesterol, especially low-density lipoproteins (LDL). Phytosterols are structurally similar to cholesterol and when ingested they compete with regular cholesterol for absorption into the body. This competition leads to reduction in the absorption of regular cholesterol and hence a reduction in overall cholesterol levels.

Since 2000, there has been a steady rise in new products incorporating phytosterols including yogurts, beverages and bakery products. Examples of some of the key factors contributing to the increased availability of sterol-containing products include increased number of regulatory approvals in the EU and the U. S. FDA approved cholesterol-reduction claim.

To participate, please email Trisha Bradley with the following information: your full name, company name, title, telephone number, e-mail address, city, state, and country. Upon receipt of the above information, a registration link will be emailed to you.

Highlights of the briefing include: Market forecast analysis, discussion of regional variations for the U. S. and European Phytosterols market, together with the main trends and challenges facing the industry.

This briefing will benefit food and beverage manufacturers, food ingredient suppliers and distributors by discussing emerging trends and providing forward projections for both the U. S. and European Phytosterol Industries.

“Shifting consumers’ attitude from awareness to understanding to overall acceptance is one of the major challenges faced by the manufacturers of phytosterol ingredients globally. Consumer awareness of phytosterol products is increasing, however they still lack knowledge and understanding of such products. It is only when consumers have this basic understanding that manufacturers can create a differential awareness between the benefits associated with phytosterols and other food ingredients such as oat beta glucan, that can lower cholesterol and improve heart health,” observes Kaye Cheung, Research Analyst for Frost & Sullivan’s Food & Beverage team.

Interviews following the briefing are available for media.

Frost & Sullivan, a global growth consulting company, has been partnering with clients to support the development of innovative strategies for more than 40 years. The company's industry expertise integrates growth consulting, growth partnership services, and corporate management training to identify and develop opportunities. Research and Markets : See These Comprehensive Strategies And Tactics That Improve Patient Recruitment and Retention In Clinical Studies Today

Research and Markets : See These Comprehensive Strategies And Tactics That Improve Patient Recruitment and Retention In Clinical Studies Today

Research and Markets (researchandmarkets. com/reports/c13595) has announced the addition of Strategies And Tactics That Improve Patient Recruitment and Retention in Clinical Studies to their offering.

(PRWEB) March 9, 2005

Patient recruitment and retention currently represents a critical bottleneck in clinical research and drug development. For example, in some cases, (e. g. breast cancer in the USA) the 'supply' of patients may be inadequate to fully assess all the drugs currently in the pipeline. Furthermore, clinical studies account for around half of the billion-dollar cost of drug development. Clinical studies are also becoming larger, longer and more complex. Therefore, there is a pressing need to reduce costs and get drugs to market more rapidly. But many clinical studies are both ineffective and inefficient. Some 70% of sites miss their recruitment target, for example. The report covers the 'scientific' aspects that contribute to the bottleneck, including enrolling of an appropriate race, age and pharmacogenomic profile to represent patients likely to receive the drug in clinical practice and access to naive patient populations.

Research and Markets (http://www. researchandmarkets. com/reports/c13595 (http://www. researchandmarkets. com/reports/c13595)) has announced the addition of Strategies And Tactics That Improve Patient Recruitment and Retention in Clinical Studies to their offering.

This Report considers strategies and tactics that enhance clinical studies' efficacy and efficient by ensuring that appropriate patients enroll in clinical studies in the most cost-effective manner. The Report begins with an analysis of barriers that hinder effective patient recruitment and then considers some solutions. In addition, the Report focuses on the role played by IT, advertising and accessing different patient populations, such as volunteers from Central and Eastern Europe as well as South America.

Key Reasons to Buy this Report.

Learn why sponsors need to improve patient recruitment and retention through an overview of the numerous factors that drive the increasing length, size, and complexity of clinical studies. Identify patient recruitment barriers through an extensive review of the factors that hinder recruitment and retention (eg. complicated protocols, over-rigorous inclusion and exclusion criteria, etc.).

Identify solutions that work - illustrated by extensive review and numerous case histories of strategies and tactics that have been shown to improve recruitment and retention. Obtain a thorough understanding of the circumstances in which advertising can still offer a highly cost-effective means to recruit patients and improve the quality and quantity of patients enrolled.

Get an in-depth look at the technological and other innovations introduced by CROs and IT companies to improve dramatically the conduct and management of clinical trials generally and recruitment and retention more specifically. Understand why a growing number of clinical trials are performed in emerging countries, including cost benefits, large populations, pharmacogenetic profiling, etc., as well as the issues that sponsors to consider. Gain reliable and thought-provoking insights into key factors influencing patient recruitment through in-depth interviews with 11 world authorities. Look inside 21 companies offering skills and services in the patient retention and recruitment area including their strategic alliances, products and pipelines, financial status, and more.

Market Opportunities

Move studies to low cost countries could save between US$10,000 and US$15,000 per enrolled patient. Effective and efficient patient recruitment can help drugs reach the market more quickly. Every extra day that a drug remains in clinical studies costs the sponsor at least US$ 600 000 in lost sales, for example. For a potential blockbuster, the daily lost revenue could reach US$ 8 million. Educate the public to help overcome bad press and pervasive historical influence (for example. The Tuskegee study) that undermines the sector's credibility and contributes to poor health outcomes as well as poor recruitment and retention. Develop child-friendly protocols that allow the sponsor to collect high quality data as regulatory authorities increasingly focus on this population.
